A Little Dissapointed...
Hey again. So I finally got to the point where I could try on my head today and was vastly disappointed to find out that my movable jaw had become static. I didn't glue anything except the lower jaw to the elastic band and I avoided getting any more glue than absolutely necessary on the elastic, however, when I open my mouth the whole face pulls downward. Did the face of the balaclava become too stiff after I glued the foam to it? After looking around at some progress pictures from other people, I noticed that some of you cut the balaclava around the mouth area. Is that the only thing I'm not doing right? Or might it be something else?
Here's the head in question.

Oh, another thing I noticed...REALLY crooked when I put it on. =/ I forgot I goofed a bit and bunched up one side when sewing the elastic on. I might just go in and take some off one side and add on the other to even it out. If anyone knows a quicker fix...? (doubt it)
Trying it on! CRAZY LOPSIDED!
Good from the side at least...

Another question. Will it be a problem when furring if there are areas where the foam doesn't come flush to face, like around the eyes in my head? I'm just wondering if it will cause there to be a weird shape there.

i dont think its lopsided, i think you might just have the nose over to the left alittle. idk i might be wrong but you can try it if you would like :]

It's not really bad, but just enough to be noticeable and worry me. There's a little difference in the cheeks and eyes, but the muzzle is off, as well as the bottom jaw. Shouldn't be too hard to fix, just frustrating when I thought it was looking good on the head form. Oh wells.

I have to agree with the above poster about the nose, it seems a bit off center. So maybe if you centered it more, it just might help fix the funny lopsided appearence you are noticing. :)

Good luck!

Hmm, I may have to make the final nose and try it then since two people agree. If that's all it takes then yay! Whole lot easier than going through again.

I third!

If the truffle was centered, it wouldn't look so twisted. The cheeks seem ok to me, the chops aren't bad (I'm not 100% sure there because of the off-centerdd truffle messing with my mind) and you could probably easily fix the eyebrows by lowering the one that is higher to match the other.

After that, all you really need to fix is the lower jaw which is, indeed crooked... I suggest to try messing with it in non-"absolutely no going back" ways until you find a solution that works. Sadly I can offer no advice there, I usually just play with it until I'm satisfied, pinching the elastic, re-glueing the foam, etc. : /

I don't think having the fur float in the air will be that much of a problem, only remember that it will not sink in, it'll drape over. So you won't really have so much as eye-sockets because there's nothing to anker the fur to stay curved inwards there. See what I mean? That COULD cause a weird face shape, depending on what you're going for.

If you're intending on filling that space over your nose to have the fur go around it inside the socket a bit more, I suggest you make it more even ; one side is a bit "squarier" than the other. :)

I made the final nose and stuck it on center and yep, everything looked a lot better. I think I have everything symmetrical now (except my ears! doh!) and I think it's ready to fur now. Thanks a lot for your help!

Yeah, slice a bit open and the jaw *should* work-I don't know, I've always just opened the mouth anyway for breathing ease. :B
