Amaterasu debut at MCM expo

last weekend I attended the MCM expo at Telford with my new cosplay fursuit, Amaterasu from the video game Okami. Had a really great time and she went down a treat. My first time cosplaying at a genuinely family friendly event, I could barely take 2 steps without small children wanting a photo and a hug. Lack of full vision meant I nearly tripped over a few, they're so small and when they get within about 6 feet, completely invisible to someone with a full mask.
so anyway, onto the pics. as a disclaimer, none of these were taken by me, so if you see your photo here and want it taken down, just gimme a shout.

This costume is a bit different than my previous work, as I'm far more restricted in my actions by the non articulated hands (they're solid carved foam). Still, at least there are no 5 foot wings to knock into things.

this is the first full suit I've done where I think the digitigrade really worked, I'll be re using the foam inserts and pattern in several more costumes. I'm also really happy with the way the carved tail and shoulder fins turned out, worth the considerable time and effort.

for completists, yes I DID make the flaming shield, though not many people wanted photos from the back so this is the best image I could find.
special LJ bonus, my impropmtu dance off with the cosplay MC; unplanned on my part, I happened to be in the wings when he was calling for cosplayers to dance.

overall, I think this is by far my best full suit so far. In all the others there have been niggles; the Mana beast's arms were a bit short, kiba and buckbeak had weird legs and cheap fur, WereGarurumon was hunched and had high shoulders. All these issues were ironed out with Amaterasu, leaving me with a costume I'm genuinely proud of. So much so that my next full uses the same body pattern (tweaked for markings) and recycles the padding and both sets of paws.
Oh, and I won the contest too :D
