Hello FWA LJ. =) I am trying to get my business in order, and so I am looking to try to secure a ride kind of early. I am located in a small town called Swainsboro, Georgia with access to the bipass and intersate. I am about 1:45 mins from Savannah, 20 from Statesboro, 45 - 1 hour from Augusta, and 30min from Dublin. I am able to meet part way or all the way depending on where (Such as Dublin or Statesboro).
I am able to tolerate smoking or non-smoking. I will provide my share in gas money and some snack food for the trip. I will have, most likely, a bag or two, a messenger back, and possibly 2 fursuit heads, that's a big 'possible' though.
I am easy going, friendly, and have no qualms listening to whatever kind of music you are into.
I would like to leave either very early Friday morning, or Late Thursday. If we arrive on Thursday I would need crash space for the night, as my room is not available for check in until Friday.
I'm also more than willing to trade art for car space, along with gas money, or whatever works for you.

Hey!
I just joined the group. I'm located in South Carolina and this will be my first official con :3 I used to live in Auburn, AL and be around furs there but have been lacking after the move to SC. Anywhoo, I comissioned a head from Beastcub and she says she can have it done in time for FWA. Me and my fella are working on the body and hooves. Yes, I'm an Equine :3 the suit will be for a Unicorn ^^ I'll also be comissioning Dont Hug Cacti for a wolf head of my first created character (made her in 97, woo!)
But yey! New Con! New Suiter! Fun Stuff!
I think I know Mr. Lightpaw from the Auburn Fur group.
I look forward to heading out that way this March! *flails*

Does anyfur know what special things sponsors take part in at FWA this year if they are sponsors? My mate and I are curious because while we do wanna support the charity, we don't know if, economically speaking from our perspective, it is worth it to get a sponsor level attendance or not.

I've been having a hard time trying to figure out the theme of FWA. I'm trying to prepare myself for the con itself and thinking of some ideas for the theme.
Carnival. When I look it up all I get is the darn cruse. Is it Mardi Gras, old timey carnivals (the ones with the freak shows). I'm sort of stumped. I'd love to do theme badges but if I can't pinpoint the theme I'm screwed.
Does anyone know?? D:>

Aloha!
Some of you may have heard this past week that Furry Weekend Atlanta 2010 was mentioned on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom radio show. It was obvious that the talk show commentators were a bit in the dark about what furry is all about. So much so that one of the speakers on that show indicated that they will be attending with a "bear suit" of some sorts, to see first hand to see what we are all about. I suspect that this may not be purely for personal interests but for additional subject matter for the talk show. Personally I don't care either way if that person attends or not , however FWA staff "might" be interested in this matter.

I live in atlanta. i have been to dragon con before but this will be my first time going to a furry convention. i will be in my wolf suit and this will be my first time dressing up also at a convention. always something i wanted to do though. i have two fur suits so far a wolf i had made and a white tiger haha. i'll post pics later but anyway,
a friend told me about it, so i thought i would go and try it out and meet some people who share the same interests. so if anyone wants to meet up or show me around then let me know.

Hey guys. First of all, if this is allowed here I am sorry! But, I'm looking for people to room with for FWA this year. Last year I roomed with friends, but they aren't rooming together this year (they are brothers) and one is rooming with a girl he intends on sleeping with, and the other with some Canadian friends...ssoo, I'm roomless. ^^ I can't afford to book a room myself right now and put down the money to hold it as I have a hotel being held for Anime South in December, so I was wondering if anyone know they had room in their room for someone else. I'm 22, a female. I like to party and have fun and drink and whatnot, but I do kinda like sleeping at some point. xD Ooh, and, I'm a blue russian kitten, fyi.

Sorry guys, We actually did have a problem with the room rates. We called today and got everything all fixed.
Go ahead and book your rooms, and check your reservations to make sure everything is A-ok.
We still have lots of rooms, but we won't for long. It's already October - March will be here before you know it!

Well I've signed up for FWA '10. It's going to be the first con I've done in a year or two. It's going to be great to see folks again. I'll have a table in the dealer's den of course, selling sketches, commissions, prints and more.

So I was chatting with ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) frocta last night and we were discussing my latest mind splosion of ideas for con shit.
Weeeeelll we were talking and we started chatting about our little passing by idea we had at FWA this year because of the food in the lobby being like 10 Kagillion dollars for a sandwich.
SO I got to thinking and a light bulb popped on in my mind brains. I could make this work.
So I started sporting around the idea that maybe at a con, taking some of the soda and little foods (or some unique stuffs like popcorn or something) out of the con suite and having a traveling vendor (think baseball) walking around selling small food items, and soda to the con goers.
This initially worked in my head because the con wouldn't be spending any money that they weren't already going to be putting into the con suit anyway. And I also took into the account of the laziness of con goers. People like convenience, if they want something and it is right there for them to get, they well pay that dollar for a soda just so they dont have to travel to get it.
Also I was thinking, this would especially work well for when the con suit is closed, to have drinks and snack noms floating around the con for a price would definitely rake in some serious cash.
Oh and I did forget to mention that the money gained would be used toward the con charity, which in turn would sell the little foods and drinks also.
Plus I was like I could totally have fun with this...so I started looking up female 50's car hop outfits, with the skirts and the hats and stuff...I was like I could TOTALLY have fun with this, go around and sell stuff in a little girly outfit with ears and a tail...oh yea I could make this work :D
But that was the basic construction of my idea,

I just wanted to make sure that the charge when you reserve a room had been resolved before I book my hotel room. Maybe something official can be posted on your hotel FAQ, I checked there and didn't see where it had been mentioned or resolved. I also have an additional question. If I reserve with a debit card, but pay with cash upon arrival, will they still put a hold on my account for the amount of the room? I don't have a credit card, so I have to use my debit card....
