At least they interviewed someone who KNOWS about furries; the guy's actually an ex-manager and good friend of mine.
De Vito says the Furry lifestyle is not about sex at all. He says Furries are harmless, gentle, good-natured people who like to get together to share their common interest.

Now I don't think we'll have thousands of furs at this year's Rocky Mountain Fur Con, but hey, free publicity!

Furry foam mask making on HGTV

On July 6 at 6:30 a.m. Eastern, HGTV's Craft Lab program will show how to make a furry foam mask from a mattress and faux fur. Just in time for you to miss it while packing up from Anthrocon. You may want to miss it if this is the mask they're making.

In case you've been living under a rock the past week, some pop star died.

One of his music videos involved him putting on a rabbit costume, turning him into an anthropomorphic rabbit!

Hijinks ensue.

A Furry Mystery Novel?
My mate just picked up a trashy chick detective novel at the library. I was intrigued by the description found on the back cover:

"Suddenly plunged into a crazy world of campaign mudslinging, dirt-digging, and cover-ups, Sophie begins to uncover some pretty dirty secrets indeed...involving a conservative congressional hopeful's involvement in the Furry community, a group of people who dress up in mascot-size stuffed animal costumes. Sex and politics, wouldn't you know."

The book is "Obsession, Deceit, and Really Dark Chocolate" by Kyra Davis

I'll have to give it a read to see just how bad it is.

Humans vs. Hamsters Dance Off
Apparently happened on June 19th. Humans vs. virtual furries in a dance-off competition on Home (a Playstation online gaming thingy).

Johnny Depp in Wonderland

Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter in a dark and twisted version of Alice in Wonderland coming out from Disney in March 2010. The movie also stars Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. No mention of other characters such as the Dodo, Mock Turtle, etc.
