08:42 pm - Raise Your Hand If You C.A.R.E.
C.A.R.E., our charity, is hurting. Like everyone else, their funds are drying up as the businesses and people that support them tighten their belts.

Myself, and most of the Con Staff, have been out the the Sanctuary west of Fort Worth; we visited them anonymously before asking them to be our charity. It is a great place, and the animals are cared for with lots of dedication and love. You can see, up-close and personal, Big Cats far clearer than in any zoo. Many of these animals have been abused, and few have any place else to go.

February and Furry Fiesta 2010 is a long ways off, and they could use our help now.

So, we're asking our Con attendees (or anyone with a soft spot for these Cats) to reach into their pockets, and maybe find $5, $10 or more to give to these big cats; if you live in the DFW area, you can swing by the Sanctuary most weekends and see your Kitties in person. Because, believe me, in person they are breathtaking... pictures and TV do them no justice.

Alternatively, volunteering ideas and/or time to help raise funds for them would be helpful, as well.

Some of our benefactors, the exact Cats you'll be helping:

Hey everyone!

We've already started planning for 2010, and I had a couple of panel ideas that I'd like some feedback on. The panels I have in mind are:

--Sewing 101: sewing by hand, sewing by machine, how to read and use a pattern, and tools of the trade. This wouldn't be specific to fursuits, but general techniques that could be used for anything from fursuits to clothing and cosplay.

--Emergency Fursuit Repair: what to do when s#^t actually does happen. Various stitches to repair tears, which adhesives to use, and supplies to keep on hand.

Would these prove useful?

06:43 am - Pre-Registration is LIVE!
All righty! Pre-Registration has gone online and appears to be working just fine.

I do ask people to be patient while I catch up with emails and issues--I've been out of town for essentially the last week and am starting an overtime schedule at work, so I'm doing my best to catch up on everything a little at a time.

Any questions, feel free to send me a message at the Furry Fiesta website.

Thanks, and happy registering!

09:30 pm - Registration Input!
Howdy folks! This is your friendly Registration staff asking a favor. We would like input as to what you would like to see as far as getting registered for the convention goes. What went well? What could be done better?

We are slowly getting pre-registration ready for Furry Fiesta 2010, and we'd like to make it the best experience possible. Comments, questions, concerns?

11:26 pm - Art Show?
Hey Furry Fiesta!

Once again, thanks for putting on such a great show this year. I'm already looking forward to next year's con.

Now, here's a question:

Do we know when the checks for the art show artists will be in the mail? It's getting close to a month and I'm just curious when to expect my check. Thanks!

10:41 am - Furry Fiesta website outage...
To anyone who's curious about what happened to our website, we've just become aware the outage ourselves. We're working with our ISP to figure out what happened. More info as it becomes available.

EDIT: Whew! Problem resolved. We're working to ensure that doesn't happen again. Please pardon me while I go sit in a corner and let my heart rate slow down again...

02:34 pm - Convention Report --> Furry Fiesta = FUN!!!
I know this convention report is coming very late… I’ve just been so busy with getting ready to move and stuff. The short and sweet version is it was an awesome convention. It was tons of fun and was great seeing a lot of friends I’ve known for a while there, and also met a lot of new people that I think are awesome and hope to hang with again soon. Now… the finer details are behind the cut… I bet I missed a few names and if I did please forgive me and my bad memory. Read more... )

It was an awesome con, and an awesome weekend long birthday party!!! Thanks one and all for making it quite memorable!

11:58 am - Looking for someone!
Hi there!
I'm trying to find two people who commissioned me at Furry Fiesta! One commissioned a neon pink fox tail and ears, the other a blue wolf tail and handpaws. If you know these folks, please direct em my way, I can be reached through here, through FurAffinity (Zim-Gekko), or through AIM (zim g3kko). I've somehow misplaced their info and really want to send them their stuff :)

Thanks!

06:39 pm - Furry Fiesta = YAY!
K so FF was such a frickin blast that I don't think I could put it into words....but I'll try.

FF was such a great time. I mean it was only my second con and it felt just like FC, and it was a first year con too.

They actually broke records for

First year attendance: 500 something furs
Fursuiters in the parade: 92
Fur con coming back another year in TX

I got to meet a lot of great people for the first time ever and IRL such as Pensive (AKA:[info]merle_dog) and her mate don [info]donyates. It was awesome to finally meet the both of you and to causing mischief while suiting was a blast.

Other shoutouts go out to:

[info]takumori for letting me borrow Agthorn to wear and bring to life.
[info]romani123,[info]wolf2tails and his mate "Kitsune" for letting say in the room you guys are awesome and hope to room with ya next year.
[info]loup_garou_wolf It was great meeting you for the first time. We will defiantly have to hang out more next time.
[info]khyle and [info]dook "give me my blue balls back" ROFL!!
[info]celyddon for helping me with the poi panel. Too bad we didn't get to hang out more.
[info]bucktowntiger for just being an awesome guy *hugs*
[info]hbruton It was great to finally be able to talk to you.

that's about all I can think about right now. If I'm missing anybody just feel free to smack me upside the head X3

Defiantly going next year....if a deployment doesn't spring up on me or something.

Here are the photos I took

08:43 am - Dealer's Den & Artist Alley Report
I have to say, I'm absolutely tickled pink by all the positive feedback I've been hearing here and on the forums. I just get this little 'squee' inside every time I read one, and I'm still riding high on the 'We did it!' sense of accomplishment.

As the dealers were leaving I talked to them... most had a fairly good selling weekend, and I got a pretty universal 'We'll be back next year!' from everyone. With a bigger Den slated for next year, I hope to have a larger variety of vendors to offer to our attendees. So from the retail side of things, there was plenty to buy and plenty sold.

Artist Alley likewise seemed to be doing brisk business. I saw lots of sketching going on, and the artists I talked to seemed to be making good sales. Our Alley will be the same size next year, and more than likely the same system (TaxIDs by person, rather than cashier system).

I enjoyed doing the Fastest Pen in the West, and I hope to do it again next year.

Whew. :)

08:20 am - Con Report - Fursuit Track Lead
I have to say I was very impressed by this con. For one thing, the staff worked together well. Everyone could adapt to changes and get the job done. I liked that! I also got some great help on my track panels.
Another thing - the attendees were great! Thank you all so much for coming and making this con a success.

On the fursuit track: I hope I had enough events to keep you all interested. I also did my best to keep the lounge stocked with water and towels. The AC going out once was an issue and we got that corrected as quickly as we could. I learned a few things that I will change for next year.

Things for next year:

1) Straws for Fursuit Lounge - This was my bad. Next year I will have some long straws for those that do not want to take their heads off.
2) Mirror & Clock for Lounge - It was mentioned that these are two items you'd like. You've got it.
3) Splitting Fursuit Performance into Beginner and Advanced - It was asked that I have a couple panels on fursuit performance. One for those that are new to suiting and ones that have been at it for a while.
4) Backstage Fursuit Room - It was asked that we have a small fursuit area next to the stage for the dances. If there is room, I will set this up.
5) Furry Talent Show - I really thought there would not be enough suits to do this. With 92+ suits attending this year, I will work to get this on the schedule for next year, but I will need acts!

To sum up: Great con. Great staff. Great attendees. See you at Fiesta 2010!

09:25 pm - Con report from your every awesone Art Track chick

Alrighties guys! :3 This Hybrid's back from furry fiesta with a little more rest! :3

I did a total of about 6 panels i believe. :3

I assisted with two fursuiting panels and did four of my own.

Overall a very successful first year! :3 We did fun things, had amazing panels, went through with some awesome fursuiting activities.

So here's the report:

Day One:

Friday

- Woke up rather early (for me) and brought Portzebie, Corsi, Skylor, Merlot and Orim all to the con.  We traveled on over, driving like a bat out of hell XD. In getting to the con we tossed Port into Artist alley and then we jumped up on the idea of running around in suit. Skylor's suit was finished on thursday (I had only had 20 minutes of sleep by this time) and I'll post pictures of that later. Sky and I ran around for a bit, I had a panel at about 4 or so... don't remember exactly... and it went well! :3 We had the amazing dueling artists, Hazard and I had some fun doodling and fighting over the board to teach people basics of shapes. :3  The day was amazing, hung out with lots of people. :3 Went back to Corsi's and then I passed out about 10:30 pm.  (everyone else had a nice drunken party of awesome. :3

Day Two:

Saturday

- I woke up about 11 and hauled ass to the con, helped instruct the Fursuit construction panel. :3 Had a blast there, learned a lot myself thanks to the very talented Taku! :3 After this panel was over i had to run to another panel in fursuit to help show people how to act! :3 then from there i had a small break and then had to run in for my Inking panel, which took the hour it was supposed to. From there I could breath for a bit. I ran around in suit and played about for a bit before the dreaded and most looked forward to panel of the con. The Adult Art Panel. The room was so full that half the audience was standing! Portzebie, Windpaw and I had the crowd in tears laughing and rolling on the floor. It lasted for a lot longer than planned, but... a two hour panel that you're laughing the whole time, but haha. One hour of jubblies, and about 30 minutes of man parts, and about 10 minutes of lady bits and back doors. XD It was overall successful :3

Throughout the night I was security. We had a few problems, a noisy room party that was settled happily, a few Addison police officers that were quite amused with us and took photos.  We had a few other things, but I'm not gunna go into that. I finally went to sleep at about 3 am! :3

Day three:

Sunday

- Woke up to skylor nuzzling me awake and I freaked... Had a panel at like... 2 or so. XD So I woke up and got all nice and dressed, went out and walked about before doing the panel. :3 After the panel was over I taught a few more things to some people and i also said good bye to a whole lot of others. At about 7 I went to the ever loverly Scritch and bitch (How'd we do) panel and volunterred myself for staff again next year! :3

Well, overall a FANTASTIC con.

Thanks to all of those who went, thanks to the staff, thanks to the volunteers!!!!!! See you all again next year! :3
