Antique Bakery licensed by Nozomi

  • Jul. 2nd, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Nozomi entertainment has just announced their license to the Antique Bakery anime! It's set to be released in a box set sometime next year, probably sub-only.

Let's hope this will lead to a licensed version of the movie.. Sadly, I live in Indiana so if they plan on showing it in Chicago... That would be the closest I could go to see it.

Has anyone ever tried any of her recipes?

Hi everyone! Has anyone ever tried any of the recipes found in Fumi Yoshinaga's manga? They all sound really delicious. I'm trying out a few recipes found in chapter 5 of 'Kinou' today. I posted the recipe in my journal and if anyone's curious, I'll be happy to post the results. :D

News From Tokyograph

Live action adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga manga "Ooku."

"Ooku" is a historical fiction, set in an alternate version of Edo-era Japan where society has become matriarchal due to an unusual disease that affects males. The story should not be confused with previous works by the same name in television, film, and theater, which have all focused on the actual historical "ooku," a section of Edo Castle that housed the shogun's women.

The movie is being directed by Fuminori Kaneko, known for handling the "Kisarazu Cat's Eye"drama series and its two films. The script is written by NatsukoTakahashi, whose credits include writing for the "Antique Bakery" animeseries, also based on a Fumi Yoshinaga series.

No release date has been set, though filming isn't planned to start until spring 2010. The cast is also currently unknown.

I'm surprised that this is a science fiction in a medieval Japan timeline. I have never read it and hope to when Viz puts it out.

Antique Bakery fanfic, help please.

  • Jan. 3rd, 2009 at 8:04 PM
This is my first fanfiction attempt (Antique Bakery, surprise surprise) and it's definitely not complete yet. So all feedback and beta'ing would be really great. It's written for sequinedfairy for no particular reason at all.

title: No idea. That's also something to work on.
rating: Somewhere in PG-13 limbo
Disclaimer: Characters all belong to Fumi Yoshinaga, Digital Manga Publishing
Pairing: TachibanaXOno, nothing new
Summary: Confused Tachibana, exposition
Warnings: Ono exercising his Demonic Charm to the fullest. (haven't written that bit yet)

Yuletide!

  • Dec. 25th, 2008 at 1:43 PM
I'm nearly incoherent with glee over the marvelous Antique Bakery story I received for Yuletide--it was exactly what I asked for: Omikuji. It's perfectly Tachibana, self-aware but fighting it, sarcastic and caring at the same time. *happy, happy sigh* You should all go read it right now. *vbg*

(There's another delightful AB story up, too, but I'm still completely inarticulate from receiving exactly the story I wanted for [info]yuletide to be coherent about any other stories, sorry. *vbg*)

Ooku v4 due Dec 24

  • Dec. 21st, 2008 at 6:52 PM
Haven't found a cover image, but here's the Amazon Japan listing: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4592143043/
Due 24 December according to AmJ. I couldn't find it listed at BK1 at all, but JBook and Junkudo do list it for 12-2008.

I'm even more excited about v4 since [info]passivesoul brought the welcome news of the English license. 'Tis the season to treat myself to some Ooku!

12-25 edit - AmJ shipped my copy today, so it's out and available.

Viz licenses OOKU! (updated)

No official announcement, but the title has popped up on Simon & Schuster's (distributor of Viz books) website here.

Cross another one off the list!

EDIT: Here's the cover that's on SimonSays now!

Found accidentally today. They seem to have almost all recignizble scenes. Even the one with Ono out in the rain, seducing Chi.

Well, watch and enjoy.

Fic: Bad Omens

  • Nov. 4th, 2008 at 6:54 PM
Title: Bad Omens
Author: Calex
Rating: G
Fandom: Antique Bakery
Summary: The staff of Antique spend Halloween together... much to Ono's dismay.
Notes: Written for [info]misura for the Halloween Fic or Treat meme.
I found two pretty long TV previews of the upcoming Korean movie adaptation Antique containing lots of clips.

KBS2:

SBS:

The scenes are all recognizable for those of us who're familiar with the manga...there're obvious tweaks but in general it seems surprisingly faithful (even kept in the little jokes)? Seems like the 'rejection' scene they have Tachibana stuffed Ono in the face with a cake.

Antique bakery fan art - is there any?

  • Oct. 31st, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Hi people!
I am pretty new to Yoshinaga-sama's world and Antique Bakery in particular.
And here I was wondering, is there any fan art on the web? I mean the manga is great, the characters are so appealing, so it seemssomebody would love to make some fan art.
In fact I wanted to draw my own, but I was not able to make them all look just as they are. >_<
