Freakish occurrences highlight the gala premiere of FRIGHT NIGHT at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro Mysterious power outages and a woman possessed by spirits from beyond
LOS ANGELES, CA—The bustling crowd that flocked to FRIGHT NIGHT for a $13 package of thrills and chills got more than they bargained for on opening night, as the Warner Grand demonstrated its haunted nature for one and all. A bizarre, unexplained power outage interrupted the show, and rocking band The Coffin Draggers were brought to a sudden halt by a woman shouting strange messages to the audience… apparently moved by spirits!
“I guess two great bad horror movies, a hot band, sizzling burlesque, and great vendors just weren’t enough for one night,” said Fright Night producer Noah Korda. “Apparently the Warner Grand decided to get into the act and give everybody a few extra scares!”
The audience loved watching creepy classics like HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE, but nobody expected the weird occurrences that helped underscore the macabre energy of the evening. “We still don’t know what exactly happened with the sound system power outage,” said Korda, “but we know one thing: It’s never happened before!”
At an event punctuated by fright nurses rescuing fainting patrons, monsters running through the aisles, raffles to win dead bodies, and other ghoulish fun, it ratcheted things up that extra notch to become a night no one would ever forget. “We may not be sure what the haunted Warner Grand Theater has planned next,” said co-producer Richard Becker, “but we’ve got even more surprises and shocks in the works next month and every month this year; including deals for groups and birthday parties.”

Its beautiful art deco design is lovely from the outside and astounding on the inside. Built by the Pantages chain, the theater was in decline for some years until historians, preservationists and the city of Los Angeles worked together to preserve it. Monster protest against FRIGHT NIGHT at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro: “WE SHALL OVERCOME!”
Fright Night producers undaunted by picketing from a legion of Hell’s monsters

LOS ANGELES, CA—“Don’t listen to a bunch of worm-eaten ghouls!” shouted Fright Night producer Noah Korda. “Come to FRIGHT NIGHT this Friday and have a spine-chilling good time for only thirteen dollars!” But Korda was not alone in the streets of San Pedro on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31, as the glorious Warner Grand Theater was picketed by ghastly specters and goblins from the ASPCM — the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters.
The diabolical creatures shambled back and forth in front of the beautiful art deco theater, waving claws and signs with slogans such as, “BOOOO TO FRIGHT NIGHT” and “UNFAIR TO UNDEAD.” Their protest was timed to inform the public about alleged “bad working conditions for monsters” at the monthly live shows that combine hilariously bad horror movies, great bands, sexy burlesque and big surprises.

Korda persisted, despite the occasional attempt to devour his brain and other vital organs. “What these monsters don’t understand is that we’re doing them a favor. Mad Marionettes, plus pulse-pounding burlesque from Miss Bonnie Delight. Not to mention a terrific selection of vendors. With a lineup like this, the monsters will be busier than they’ve been in years… and they’ll love it!”
Co-producer Richard Becker added, “And don’t forget, we give discounts for groups and birthday parties. The monsters will have a party like they’ve never had before. How can they complain?
But somehow ASPCM members say they can. “Korda and Becker aren’t listening to us yet, but they will. We’ll be back to protest again… and again… and AGAIN! We won’t give up until the public KNOWS how we’re being treated at FRIGHT NIGHT!”

Show producers “Unfair to the Undead,” say ghosts, vampires, zombies and other fiends from beyond the grave — protest planned for Sunday, May 31st, 2009 from 1:30pm to 3pm. LOS ANGELES, CA—“We already work hard enough,” said a “spooksperson” for the ASPCM — the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters. “Now FRIGHT NIGHT wants us to work even harder! We’ve got rights, too.” But the producers of Fright Night are adamant about keeping ghouls working round-the-clock for their new series of live shows that combine hilariously bad horror movies, great bands, sexy burlesque and big surprises. “I’m really sorry,” said Fright Night founder Noah Korda, “but you just can’t get this kind of thrills, fun, and excitement without keeping monsters really busy. We’ve got an audience coming June 5 that we need to shock, scare, and horrify. It’s one great show for a low price, and we have to ask a lot from all the creeps we’re bringing in to scare people.” Standing outside the beautiful art deco Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro in the foggy dead of night, the ghastly representative from ASPCM disagreed. The monsters have decided to show up outside the Warner Grand Theater on Sunday, May 31st, 2009 from 1:30pm until 3pm to make their feelings known. “We wake up at the crack of night, have a fast cup of blood to get us moving, and before we can so much as terrorize a neighborhood, there’s these Fright Night guys putting us through our paces at the theater. We need breaks! We need better crypts! We need a retirement plan! I mean, I know we never retire, but still! You know what I’m sayin’!” The creatures from beyond the grave did admit they received some perks from Fright Night. “Well, okay, we do like seeing all the great bands, like The Coffin Draggers, Frankenstein, Rosemary’s Billygoat, and the Mad Marionettes. Plus, the sexy red-hot burlesque from Miss Bonnie Delight gets us jumping out of our coffins. And the vendors are fun, too. But it’s the principle of the thing!” Co-producer Richard Becker said, adding, “I don’t think the monsters are keeping our low ticket prices in mind. It’s $13 to get in, with discounts for groups and birthday parties. I just don’t think we can install a Jacuzzi in every mausoleum when we’re giving the public a deal like that.” The ASPCM rep was adamant. “We’re going to march. Vending Spots left for Fright Night June 5th Just to let you know, we have some spots left for my Fright Night event, Friday June 5th. We are going to be sending out the final information about the event this Saturday to the people that wish to vend. The location is @ the Warner Grand Theater 478 West 6th Street in San Pedro, CA The doors to the event will open @ 7:30pm and will run til about 2am. You can pack up when you feel like you want to. up unitl 2am. Fright Night ran from 2004 until Oct of 2007 and was very popular. Now that we are back and at a much bigger location we know this will be just as popular if not more. And it’s about to come true in a beautiful art deco theater in San Pedro, CA, starting this June 5, which also happens to be Korda’s birthday. “We love the idea of the great old spookshows of the past,” said Fright Night founder Noah Korda. “They had monster movies, gimmicks, giveaways and guys in monster masks running up and down the aisles waving cardboard axes at you. It’s time to bring that back, with a few modern twists.” Co-producer Richard Becker agreed, adding, “We’re modeling our shows on the wonderful old midnight monsteramas from years ago, but we’ve added burlesque (with burlesque queen Miss Bonnie Delight), cool bands, fun vendors and more.” Fright Night has an impressive lineup of bands, including local favorites The Coffin Draggers, Frankenstein, Rosemary’s Billygoat, and the Mad Marionettes. It also has a hilariously scary lineup of bad old monster movies, including THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION, THEY SAVED HITLER’S BRAIN, HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS. And it’s all served up with a bar available for 21-and-older “boils and ghouls” with ID, as well as an affordable ticket. "I think one of the best parts of our shows is that we’re keeping ticket prices down so that everybody can have a good time,” Korda continued. “It’s only $13 to see two movies, a band, burlesque and vendors. Plus, we’ve got surprises at every show,” he laughed. “You could win a dead body! Looking for Vendors for Fright Night Starting June 5th.
Looking for Vendors for Fright Night Starting June 5th. I am currently looking for vendors for my event Fright Night, which is starting June 5th. Fright Night is an event that I ran for 3 1/2 years, that ended in 2007. Each month there will be spots for 10 vendors. The event will be located at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, CA. 478 West 6th Street San Pedro, CA. The dates for the events are June 5th, July 24th, August 28th, September 11th, October 2nd, and December 4th. Each of these dates are Fridays. You can check out the event website @ http://www.frightnightla.com . Each vendor spot will be only $60. The event will run from 7:30pm to about 2am. If this is something that you would like to part take in please send us an email to frightnight@batsday.net and let us know what months you would like partake in. Fright Night is coming back this June......I hope.
Fright Night is coming back this June......I hope. Ok. So I have been itching about bringing it back and it looks like it is coming back after all. Tonight I had a meeting and got some details worked out. I will have a better idea in about 2 weeks if this thing is an actual go or not. If it is a go, it will only be for once a month for 6 months.
