Idea Tree Contest

  • Feb. 25th, 2008 at 8:30 PM
Hey guys! We've had a BUNCH more entries for the Idea Tree Studio guest designer contest. Thank you to everyone for contributing! We plan on starting the vote on Wednesday and running it through Saturday, so if there are any last minute layouts you would like to submit, now is the time to do it!

Contest

  • Feb. 13th, 2008 at 8:05 PM
In regards to the Idea Tree Studio guest designer contest - are there any more entries? So far we only have a couple of people interested. If that is the case, I may just put them up as guest designers without voting :( That makes me sad because voting is always fun!

So, if you want to enter but the deadline was too short just let me know when you can have something in. Remember, you guys CAN use old layouts that you've made, too!

Layout Contest for Idea Tree Studio

  • Feb. 2nd, 2008 at 12:23 PM
I mentioned it before and now the time is here! Our first ever layout contest for Idea Tree Studio (the collaborative site for [info]freelayouts and [info]premade_ljs).

To make things fun, we decided to make a contest where all the members of both communities get to pick the winners. Idea Tree Studio is a joint collaboration between myself and [info]tasha of [info]premade_ljs, so to keep things from being redundant, we will have the contest held here at [info]freelayouts (since we have so many talented creators) and hold the voting at her community on a public vote. (She will also encourage people to be entering from her community so watch out, there may be some more compeitition!)

The rules break down like this:

1. You have one week to submit up to FIVE layouts. (You CAN use old layouts of yours if you would like to.) We would like the people voting to see a few different sides to your talent. If you can only submit one though that's fine. Just submit the link(s) in a comment to this post, or as an entry in the community. (Make sure we know it's for the contest if you post in the community!)

2. You can enter myspace layouts or website templates, too, if LiveJournal isn't your area of expertise.

3. All designs must be live, working previews.

4. At the end of the week, Tasha will post a public post with a poll of all the contestants and their entries.

5. Voting will be open for everyone!

6. At the end of the voting, the top 5 will create zip files for downloads of the layouts they entered, (images, instructions, codes) and a preview. We will upload them to the website on the downloads page.

7. You will be featured in our newsletter along with the other winners. You can include a short bio or just a website or community of yours.

8. You will ALSO be featured in our sidebar as a guest designer. Again, you can have a short bio or link to your site. (We get plenty of traffic so you should see an increase in yours as well!)

9. All Designers may submit more layouts after winning the contest if they should like to do so. Otherwise, however many you entered in the contest is enough.

So - get going! What are you waiting for?!

My 3 column review

  • Apr. 7th, 2007 at 11:37 AM
While we are conducting the style contest, I've decided to write a review on each of the styles to let other people know how easy/difficult each style is to work with.

Those of you that entered your 3 Column layouts last week, or if you've created a 3 Column layout in the past, please comment with your own opinions and/or reviews! I will change this review based on what you say before I post it in [info]s2styles.

Please answer the following on a basis of 1-10:
• How easy was this style to work with?
(1=hardest, 10=easiest)

• How customizable was this style?
(1=not customizable, 10=tons of options)

And "yes", "no" or "not sure":
• Would you work with this style again?

Contest

[info]freelayouts is posing a challenge to all of you layout makers! Every other week we are taking a new style and working with it. Each layout that is submitted using the contest style is entered into the contest. All members are welcome to join. The members vote on the layouts every other Sunday. The winning layout will be displayed on the community info page and on the community layout.

At the end of the contest, each winning layout will be voted on. That winner will recieve a prize (not sure what that will be yet... depends on my finances).

We will be taking a new S2 layout to work on each week. There will be a few that are not done but most of them will be. I will provide the default stylesheet for you guys to look at and use as a reference.

This week's layout is "[S2] Expressive".
The due date is Saturday, July 7th.
Here is the Default CSS.

LLS

I just haven't had the energy to start another LLS contest. We need to raise 25 bucks for the prize money and I really really need someone to help me run it. I basically want to sit back and judge the next season.

So... anyone that wants to help out, I need a mod and someone to raise donations.

edit: Thank you Jacki!

Season six auditions are underway for the LLS contest. If you want to become part of the contest, submit your layout audition to [info]lls_auditions on or before April 1st. You may submit any type of layout you choose, as long as it's not obscene or offensive.

The prize (donated by the members of this community) for winning the contest is a one year paid LJ account. All auditions will be accepted.
