I use CS2 and have no knowledge whatsoever of PSP or Gimp, but assume that these steps are easily transferable.The trick to tiling patterns of course is to make them large and then resize. I have demonstrated this at 150px size but as you can see from the steps it is best to make it 450px. Making this tiling pattern;

A new layout for the February 1st reveal on the_lj_reboot and its out with the blue (for the time being anyway) and in with the gold. The layout is Bloggish - I did intend to try to learn how to code another style - Smooth Sailing or Tranquility - or go back to The Boxer for this one, but in the end, didn't! The header and footer were made from two stock images by xymonau that I found on stock.xchng and the background is a simple repeat pattern made in CS2 using the texturiser filter (this is sandstone). The layout uses 4 colours all picked up from the finished header - a dark and a light gold, a cream and a dark brown. Like my personal LJ, this layout uses a 'faux' sidebar created by using a 1px deep journal wide wrap image that repeats down the page; I wanted something that worked in both Firefox and IE, and this does - although it just looks better in Firefox of course ;)

I have been in awe of grrliz and her fabulous layouts posted over at thefulcrum for some time now, and have more recently been inspired by the creative talents of seleneheart and thought I'd have a go at creating one. It's far from perfect but I loved the photographs and it's bright and cheerful so you are most welcome to take and try it. If you do take it, I'd be grateful if you would a) save all the images and upload them to your own server or hosting space and b) credit the layout to liars_dance @ fraoch_icons. The layout has been tested inboth free and paid accounts (I don't know about plus). l've tested it in firefox2 and IE6 & 7. Comments are most welcome!
