my favorite find, found in a usf dumpster, san francisco
Here's the story of E and L. E and L dated in high school. L went off to college. E missed him very much, so she started to write him letters. Frequently. She loved him more than anything. Things didn't go so well with their relationship, and at the end of the school year L threw all the love letters in the trash.

I found these and other cards from his family and friends. I found birthday cards from his family for his 18th birthday, so keep in mind that his girlfriend is probably only 18 at the oldest. She might have been 16 with two more years left of high school when he went away. These aren't the only cards I found. I'm just providing a sampling. I found 13 cards from her in all. Four of them were Valentine's cards (for ONE Valentine's Day!) Most of the cards that I'm not posting just say she loves him and misses him. Make sure you read the printed text of the cards too.

This is the first one, in which she states she decided to start writing him. She mentions a "stepping stone" that they've gotten over. She says maybe they should "start over".

In this one she starts to lay it on kind of heavy: "I can't wait til the day I say I do and promise my life to you!" Notice that she also signs it "E/your wife".

Ooh, she talks about sex in this one. She also says, "We are not yet married but one day we will be!" Also note the difference in how she signed the left and right sides of the card. The left is signed E.D. and the right is signed E.M. Her last name starts with an M, but his last name starts with a D. So on the left she signed her first name with his last name.

Trouble brews. He's been going through a "tuff time", and she wants to help.

More trouble. They are back to one of their stepping stones. He's been pushing her away. She is resolute though. "Be my husband!" she says. She also signs her name with his last name, with an arrow pointing to his surname with the note, "Maybe one day".

I hope you guys understand why I blurred out the names. They would have been too identifiable. I googled the guy and now I know where he went to high school, what sport he plays and what he looks like. Their first names are pretty uncommon too, so the combination of their two names and the location where I found them would have all been giveaways. Anyways, I hope E is doing okay.

JPEG!! JPEG!!
You.... DID bring a camera, didn't you?
Hopefully it's one of those cameras that are easy to use with one one hand and your pants down around your ankles.
