I actually laughed at this one.
I was kind of hoping it was the last of the shoot and he had "died" or something.

I like it, but I can understand why other people might get creeped out. However, I like the images on their own. I don't really get it as a set. I think they overdid the guy in the speedo thing, and I'd probably like it (or get it) more if the pictures varied a little more.

But the whole adding random famous people was cool.

I dont see the creepy. What I do see is a big mess.

SOme of the shots are fun. this belongs in the MOMA with people pretending to get it.

Because no one could ever understand anything in MOMA... this is completely transparent, it features celebrities because it is about celebrity culture in LA. There is a storyboard narrative about a boy who is preened hanging around people who are celebrities who are sometimes in LA, they like to look at him in small amounts of clothing and some of them like to touch him. There's even a reference to religion as a function of celebrity in there. It's called LA Portfolio so that you know where it's happening and can grasp the narrative more easily and it's creepy because it is creepy. What's hard to get, what's messy?

You know those "dead models" fashion shoots that many of us find offensive because all the women look sorta like they've been raped? This photo shoot has that exact same vibe to me. There's more than a couple where he looks like he's been raped and left for dead.

What creeps me out here is that in some of the photos the model is actually interacting with the people he's posing with (in a sensual way), but in others of them, the people in the photos are totally unaware that he's there. For me, it adds to the feeling that he's there only to be a tool for these people's pleasure (and ignored like an inanimate object at all other times).

Setting that aside, some of the people chosen to be in this photo shoot have me scratching my head. What do Peggy Lipton, the Stewarts, Marilyn Manson, Gore Vidal , (etc.) all have in common????

Maybe its that they have nothing in common. I think this shoot is supposed to have a displaced sensibility. Which is why I completely agree with you. Although, I have to say (and I may be the only one on here) THAT I LOVE THIS. some of these images are so compelling and I love the contrast of the male model to the celebrities.
