Three obscurities! Who else remembers these? [02 Oct 2008|01:11pm]

1. Rude Dog and the Dweebs -  It was this show about this bad boy black-and-white dog called Rude that ran an autoshop, and his gang which were called the Dweebs. When I was a kid I remember it being one of my favorite shows, I totally forgot about it until I ran across a battered old copy in my local video store.

2. Strike! / All I Wanna Do / The Hairy Bird - This is one of my favorite movies and no-one seems to know anything about it, even though I think it's only from the late 90s and it stars Kirsten Dunst and Gaby Hoffmann. It should be heaps more common than it is.

3. A Goofy Movie - This movie absolutely terrified me when I was a kid! It was because of the opening sequence where the main character Max turned into his dad. I had nightmares about turning into Goofy for months.

Has anyone ever seen "Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story?" While it is credited as a Jim Henson movie, his son Brian is actually responsible for the story. Unlike almost every other Jim Henson creation, this movie is not populated by muppets of any kind, in fact, I think there is only one puppet in the entire film. Since I'm not very good at summerizing things, here's the one from IMDb:

Jack Robinson (Matthew Modine) is a wealthy business man with no time for anything but work. However, a family curse is looming over him - no man in the Robinson line ever lives past the age of thirty. With his upcoming birthday appears the remains of literally giant skeleton and a mysterious woman (Mia Sara) who claims to have once known the gaint. Jack decides to go with her to another world where all is revealed to him along with the story of his ancestor, the orginal Jack and the Beanstalk. In order to save his own life and the world of the giants, Jack must right the wrongs of the past and return the magical harp and goose that lays the golden eggs to their rightful home.

It's a really good movie, and while the special effects are just so-so the storyline more than makes up for it.

YESS!!! I am ecstatic to have found this community, and likeminded movie lovers :D

here's a movie for you all to remember: Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas

I also have a question, I am in search of an old animated movie, I remember seeing it in 2nd grade (I am about 23), and it seems this movie has the animted movie style of perhaps the 70's, 80's, its not likely it was an early 90's vhs.

Anyhow...I remember there being this little red robin (it was a bird, i remember that) going on some sort of adventure. he was either picked on or discriminated against being able to have an education, or something? I know that is such an obscure description, but some of you guys are amazing in your flashbacks. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm looking for the title to atleast quell my nostalgic thirst :)

thanks!

Has anyone seen the movie When Good Ghouls Go Bad? Last weekend I remembered it, but couldn't remember the name. So I asked about it on Yahoo answers, and someone immediately told me the name. It was from 2001, from the 13 days of halloween. Then amazingly this weekend I found that we had taped it onto a VHS! So, anyone seen it? I just figured it was a forgotten movie, since I forgot it, and everyone I know that I asked about it had absolutely no clue what I was talking about.

Is anyone here a fan of the film Gay Purr-ee? It's really good. :)

One of my faves. I used to love this movie so much when I was little. Gay Purr-ee was released in 1962, and I believe it was the first film to ever have cats as the leading characters. It has very colorful animation and beautiful songs! Many people compare this movie to The Aristocats since it takes place in France, but Gay Purr-ee has a completely different storyline and came 8 years before that.

Anyway, I find this classic to be very under-rated so I was just wondering if anyone here remembers it. :)

Does anyone remember the 1978 version of Swan Lake directed by Kimio Yabuki? Everyone I've talked to haven't seen or don't remember it. This makes me sad 'cause its really an excellent film.

Anyone remember this version of Snow White? [16 Aug 2008|09:55am]

awritersfantasy

I grew up watching this version of Snow White, which was made in 1987. I recently watched it on Youtube (x.x and then I just found my VHS copy of it and it's still watchable) and remembered my love for the different songs in it.

I was just wondering if anyone else here had ever seen it. I would love to be able to have the songs in it if possible, though I don't know if anyone's ever ripped the songs from the movie and posted them on LJ or anything.

Anyway, I was just wondering. XD

Hi there, this is my first post in this place! ^_^
I actually joined just a few minutes ago (I stumbled across this place by chance while searching for Swan Princess stuff) But wow- just reading the interest list on the community's profile page brought so many happy childhood memories! <3 Aw, just about all the movies listed were my favorites when I was a kid, expecially those non-Disney animated movies like An American Tail and The Land Before Time

Also hey, does anyone remember Rover Dangerfield? It was basically Rodney Dangerfield as a dog who goes to live on a farm x) I had a video of this as a kid and used to watch it non-stop @_@ oh god that movie amused me to no end x)) expecially the song "never do it on a christmas tree" lol

Hello.  I wanted to see how many people on this forum actually saw the movies on my list that are some of my favorites that are rarely known today...I find myself talking about them in conversation about movies and many of my newer friends tell me they've never seen them...so I guess they are rarer than I thought.  At first, I wouldn't have considered them so. I'm new here, and I was actually looking for Sandlot communities, and I found this one! I love movies that seem to never be mentioned anymore! My favorites are probably Anastasia, Thumbelina,  and The Quest for Camelot! All of my friends seem to never have seen Quest for Camolot, and that really bothers me. I'll have to show it to them.

Once Upon a Forest [17 Jul 2008|08:20pm]

over_the_moon89
looking for this RANDOM song from the old kids movie Once Upon a Forest.

it's a lovely lullaby sung by a badger-looking creature to his sick niece. surprisingly beautiful.

voice actor: Michael Crawford?

"please wake up, it's your morning
golden day to find
once i had a morning too
i was young once, just like you
it's evening in my life
all i have is the night
but it's still early morning for you
for you..."

if ANYONE has this song, i'd love love love to have it! it's potentially written by James Horner, i know he wrote the rest of the soundtrack/score. (If you have more from the soundtrack, that'd be awesome as well. ^_^ )

returns: more music composed by James Horner!
