Hello!
I've just joined this community, I'm Anna from Hungary, 22 years old, and my old-time favorite was "The Girl From Tomorrow" the Aussie serie from the very early 90's. I used to be a fan as a kid and it's a pity I can't get the serie on DVD, though I've seen that it was released in Australia... If I could ever take my hands on it... It's just a dream, but still, I have good memories of being a fan:) Anyone here who used to be a fan, too?

Does anyone remember an Australian TVs how, made probably mid 90s that was set in a children/teenagers sports academy? Opening credits were mainly blue in colour... for some reason it popped into my head whilst sitting in the bath and it's bugging me to know what it is!

x-posted

Hello all. I found this community through an interest search for 'Press Gang' hoping to find others interested in the TV show and not those who used to force men into service on various ships.

Anyway, I was hoping someone here could help me, though it doesn't seem like a busy community, in my search for the name of a show I used to watch. I don't remember much about it, except there was a boy named 'Tea Bag' who worked for some kind of evil lady, presumably a witch or sorceress, and there was also a girl with a satchel, who could possibly travel through dimensions. The only other thing I remember is there seemed to be some kind of signifance to pearls or a pearl. I'm fairly certain it was British (mainly because I vaguely remember the boy having a British accent and it was on ABC which shows a lot of British programmes) and that it would've been made in the late '80s or early '90s as I watched it as a small child.

I'm afraid that's really all I can remember, but hopefully someone here knows which show I'm talking about.

It was certainly fun to look through the interests and remember all the shows I used to watch (and remember the theme songs, too!).

new

Hi, I'm new here. I grew up with a lot of great TV shows (wish they were back on again) and it's been great to see some of them released on DVD. Some of the many TV shows I like and have seen previously are: The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Star Trek (all series), Quantum Leap, Lassie, Kelly, The Littlest Hobo, The Addams Family, The Munsters, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Brady Bunch, The Campbells (Canadian TV series), Family Ties, Punky Brewster, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, Small Wonder, MASH, The Girl From Tomorrow, Tomorrow's End, Land of the Giants, Early Edition, Full House, Little House on the Prairie, Road to Avonlea, Deepwater Haven, Ship to Shore, Round the Twist, Mirror Mirror, Elly & Jools, Spellbinder, The Care Bears, Snoopy and Peanuts cartoons, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, and more.

The Girl From Tomorrow has been released on DVD in Australia, and Tomorrow's End should be out next year. There's two books on the series that I have had since it first aired on TV. I've seen the telemovies of the series recently on DVD and they're a great summary of both, but don't explain some things which the TV series does in its entirety.

There used to be a live action and puppetry combined TV series in Australia on Blinky Bill, which in my opnion was way better than the current animated series. Wish they'd release it on DVD! It was called The New Adventures of Blinky Bill, and I haven't yet found anyone who remembers it. Can't find much online about it, except a puppeteer's site.

I used to watch Degrassi Junior High on TV, just rewatched that earlier this year thanks to the library having the DVDs. It was great to see again! Also used to watch You Can't Do That On Television, that was a funny series.

It wasn't until I saw the name in the interests that it reminded me I had seen The Mysterious Cities of Gold when I was young. The only thing I remember vaguely from it that there's a flying condor, and I also recall a little of the theme tune. Not on DVD here sadly. Did anyone ever see Kimba The White Lion? That's another cartoon I used to watch. I saw a couple videos recently of the series. The whole series is on DVD now, though I haven't gotten it as it's kind of expensive.

The other day i switched on tv and saw that the Storykeepers was on this religious channel. Don't know if anyone remembers the animation?

http://www.storykeepers.com/

The Storykeepers is an animated Christian series. It takes place in Rome around 64 AD, and tells the story of a group of Christians attempting to survive Nero's persecution of Christians and spread the stories of Jesus Christ. It began in 1997, think its still around now..

Childhood memories

I have been trying to track down a film i saw when i was a kid. It was got out of the local video shop, which is no longer there.
It was a live action fantasy film about a princess that lived in a castle with her father the king and an evil step mother, I know what your thinking 'snow white' but no. I remeber she played with a golden ball and had a friend in her room that talked and lived on the half moon hanging in the window (similar to the dreamworks character- the thing at the start of dreamworks films, on the moon with the fishing rod).
Please help if you can.
Thanks
S xxx

Hiya :) I just found this community from searching for Knightmare in LJ. Absolutely fantastic show and a crying shame in my opinion that they changed it to all the outdoor scenes and the Magic Eye shield. But anyway... other programmes I'd like to give a heads up to:

Degrassi Junior High
Prince Valiant
Cockleshell Bay
Button Moon
California Dreams - looks crap in hindsight :P
Fraggle Rock

It's another one of those.

This is totally oen of those "do you remember this movie/special from when we were kids?!" pleas.

The first one was a special (I think) of nursery rhymes that were done with puppets and were generally kind of creepy. I know there was one with the Man on the Moon, Little Miss Muffet, and a lot more.

The second was a live-action version of Alice in Wonderland that had the Jabberwocky in it and actually utilized the "looking glass" mirror in her parents (?) house.

I think they were both from the 80's but I could be wrong.
Thanks.

Found another one!

Lemme nominate another 'forgotten' program, The Crystal Maze!

Okay, maybe not so forgotten because I'm sure we all remember it. I recently caught a repeat on some obscure cable station.

Essentially, if you haven't seen it, it was a big-budget gameshow where contestants run around in themed areas, each of the four areas are themed after a period in time (futuristic, aztec, medievil, and either industrial or ocean), the last of which always felt a bit of a stretch.

The host really made the show, and the first half of it would feature Richard O'Brian, of Rocky Horror fame. When he left, he was replaced by Edward Tudor-Pole, known for replacing Johnny Rotten in the Sex Pistols. The host would ham up the performance, play around during the games, and generally have fun while the contestants suffered.

The contestants are, I realised when I watched the repeat, complete idiots who are utterly unable to do the slightest thing right. They would, on a regular basis, run around the room screaming that they don't know what to do, despite having the instructions painted in big letters on the walls AND having the rest of the team shouting it at them through the windows.

If I remember, the show was pretty big in it's day. And the reason I remember it is because I'm cleaning out all my stuff now, and came across an old certificate me and my sister once won for completing a 'cyberdome' Crystal Maze (which was like a small version of the game, kind of like laser tag but with puzzles on computer screens) from Blackpool.

Last time I was in Blackpool, it had been turned into something else entirely.

I keep wondering if I'll ever stumble across another one of those Cyberdome theme rides somewhere. It's unlikely. But I still hope for it. I hear that there's one in Wales...

I was looking for the Raccoons based LJ communities but I could only find like 2 or something? o_O I checked this one out and I found out afew more cartoons I liked as a child on the interest list but the Raccoons, the moomins and Ghostbusters being my favourite out of them all. I have the Moomins on DVD which was a real shocker to find and it was a decent price too. ^-^

Hope to hear more from this community. ^-^

~Washu~

Hey guys.

I stumbled across this group while searching for Knightmare related items (I think it was to find links to torrents, no luck there), and didn't really post.

But last night, I had a strange dream, and remembered a show I used to watch, Mike And Angelo. That one was very strange.

Anyways, have a great weekend :)

I made a couple of textless icon bases from the animals of farthing wood series and thought it was appropriate to post them here seeing as this is a community for old programmes but if its not allowed let me know and I'll delete the post

~ Feel free to customise
~ No need to credit but comments/feedback would be nice
~ And NO hotlinking

If you cant see the icons let me know, photobucket has been a pain recently
