[info]forbiddenawards is a judged site for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series fanfiction and fanart. We will screen nominations for basic skills in style, plotting, and characterization; elements such as proper grammar and spelling are also applicable. All nominees will be contacted and asked if they accept the nomination prior to being added to our nominees page. Please make sure you enter the author or artist's contact information with your nomination(s).

Dates for Round Eight of the Forbidden Awards:

Nominations: February 14 - March 17, 2008
Announcements: April 1, 2008

Please note the moderators reserve the right to change these dates at any time for any reason.

Rules

  • Nominated stories can be works-in-progress. Obviously, the more that is written, the better, as it will provide our judges better opportunity to assess the merits of the story.

  • Self-nominations, as well as the nominationing of another's work is welcome. However, beginning with Round Six, we are requiring nominated authors to accept their nomination via email. If we do not receive an explicit acceptance, the nomination will be tabled and those already in the queue will advance. Only ten nominations are allowed per category, and they do fill up fairly quickly. Be sure to friend the community so that you can be apprised of updates.

  • Please note that if a story has previously won in any category in any round, it is NEVER eligible for additional nominations. If a writer wins for Best Author, they will not be eligible again. We want to make sure as many stories and writers are recognized as possible. Previous winners from rounds 1-4 were compiled in this post by [info]virtualpersonal and [info]mygothangel.



    • Fanfic Categories:

    Real Person Fiction or Real Person Slash (RPF/RPS) are allowed in the appropriate categories. For example, James Marsters/David Boreanaz RPS should be nominated in the Blood and Brood Category (Best Spangel). A more obscure pairing, such as Nicholas Brendon/Christian Kane, should be nominated in the Boys and Their Toys Category (Best General Slash)

    Special Categories/Awards for Round Eight

    * The Cockpit Award focuses on a specific character established in canon who is not often at the forefront of the fandom. The nominations for this category must feature the spotlighted character in a leading role. For Round Eight, the character is Lindsey McDonald. All stories starring Lindsey are eligible, regardless of length, status of completion (though, if the story is a WIP, it must be updated regularly; that is, not abandoned), or genre; het and slash are both welcome. The Cockpit Award for this round will be known as The Immoral Conduct Award.

    * There will also be a holiday-themed category for Round Eight, The Madonna Award (holiday, a celebration, come together in every nation). All entries may feature any character or pairing, and be of any length, but should be completed, and must focus around one of the three following holidays: Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, or April Fool's Day.


    Fanart Categories:

    The Eye Candy Award (Best Fanfic Art): For art created for a specific fanfiction, e.g. a banner.

    The Eyegasm Award (Best LJ Layout)

    The Le Petit Mort Award (Best Icon)

    The Overexposed Award (Best Fandom Art): Fandom art created not for a specific story, but for general use.

    *When nominating a piece of art, please advise if the piece is worksafe (WS) or non-worksafe (NWS).


    Special Awards

    *Note: The following awards are given by the moderators and judges and are not eligible for nominations:

    The Cream of the Cock Award (Moderator's Choice)
    The Ecstasy Award (Judge’s Choice)
    The Gangbang Award (For Outstanding Cheerleading and Support in the Fandom)
    The Wicked Award (Best Author)


    Plagiarism

    The moderators of the [info]forbiddenawards have a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. Any story or art conclusively found to have been plagiarized will be reported to the appropriate communities ([info]stop_plagiarism and [info]award_warning), and the offender will be banned from this community. Additionally, [info]xanzpet will notify all affiliates of such activity. If it is determined that a past winner has plagiarized their winning story or art, all applicable awards will be rescinded and the offender banned from this community. Plagiarism in any form will absolutely not be tolerated. Thank you.
