I know this community might be a little dead or not being noticed on LJ.
I've found this community when I was searching for any community named to the japanese horror game called Siren, or Forbidden Siren.

But I've discovered the new game that will be part of the siren series.
Named: Siren: Blood Curse

A trailer can be viewed from Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/381321/siren-trailer-creeps-the-hell-out-of-my-ps3

DEMO video (YouTube):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ktDN3jqEKlU

Tags:
http://kotaku.com/search/siren%203/ - Siren 3 tags
http://kotaku.com/search/Siren/ - Siren tags
http://kotaku.com/search/siren%203/Siren:%20Blood%20Curse/ - Siren: Blood Curse tags

You can also find more screens from the game. Possibly even make some 100x100 avatars from them? :D

I recently purchased Siren, the first game in the series as a birthday present for me. I'm somewhat disappointed because of the level of difficulty in the game, and possibly because the shibito don't die. I don't understand why the shibito can't die. I'm also disappointed in which if someone is playing a character and they have a partner with them, they have to protect that partner, even IF they don't have a weapon.

I've read previous entries in this community and it seems that this village in Japan is real? Confused a little about that.

But this game really interests me. I find it more fascinating than Silent Hill.
I hope this community will be more active when the next game in the series will be released.

Has anyone got scans of Eternal Siren, the Japanese comic? I'm trying to put together a Siren fansite at the moment, and thought it would be rather awesome to do a translation/scanlation of the comic as part of it.

Similarly, has anyone got scans of the Japanese manuals and guides for the same reason? I know Felix M.C. Li had them at one stage, but his Siren site no longer seems to exist. :)

If I'm feeling ambitious, I may attempt the novel too, though I've never translated anything of that length.

Arigatou ne! :)

I thought I'd not be rude and introduce myself. I got the game on a whim (we had went into the store to get a new surround sound system, and it was hanging on a rack). Whoever said don't judge anything by it's cover....Well, they were at least partially full of crap. Seeing, as that's what I went by when I put it in our cart. My 71 year old grandfather has finished the game before me, though...(With aid of a game Genie).

ANYHOW! I hope I get to make some new friends, and I'll be making icons galore. So be expecting to see me around ^.^

Lisa

<strike>noidoNOThaveacrushontampon!</strike>

I'm new to this community. I'm glad there's a Forbidden Siren community here!

Anyway, my first experience with the game was when my best called me and informed me he wasn't going to his grad ceremony because he wanted to stay home and he wanted me to rent Siren for him. We turned off the lights and had one hell of a time playing it! A month later we each purchased the game. I beat it, he still hasn't.

Do any of you guys have any funny stories about playing Siren? You know, being scared horribly or playing with friends or anything like that? One that sticks out in my mind is when it took my best friend and I an hour to bet the very first level. I guess getting in the truck was a difficult task for us. Also, we were at a really intense moment in the game and a poster fell off my wall and we nearly died from fright.

Anyway, I guess that's all for my introduction!

I have a question about the midnight pimpernel. I'll put it under a cut just cause..yeah.

Okay. Does the mana cross medallion come from the midnight pimpernel? Because in that drawing of the flower, there are mana cross medallions at the roots. And what are those medallions for anyway? Anything special? And could those gardening shibito maybe be planting the midnight pimpernel (even there is like...no proof of that XD;;)? Just some thoughts that popped into my head just now.

[EDIT]: Oh, and by the way, does anyone happen to have the movie cutscenes from Siren on their compi? I'd really like to get my hands on them. x.x I'd rip them off the game CD myself if I knew how. >.> (and had the equipment...that is if you need any new equipment...)

RELEASE DATE AND ARTICLE!

Theres an article up about Siren 2 on IGN :D!
I'll post it up for all of you.

First Look: Siren 2
The sequel is still on for PS2. New details from the developers.
by Anoop Gantayat

April 19, 2005 - With 2005 set to be the last full year before the PlayStation 2 sees its successor, one has to start wondering if some of the games announced for the system will end up being pushed back for next generation release. One title we were worrying would fall into this category was Siren 2, the sequel to one of the most original survival horror experiences since the very first Resident Evil. Thankfully, our fears were misplaced -- Siren 2 is still coming to the PS2, for Japanese release some time this year.

Sony Computer Entertainment is, in fact, becoming a bit more open in discussing the game. While screenshots still haven't been released, a set of developer interviews posted at the official Siren 2 website offers hints at what's in store. The interviews feature comments from game director Keiichiro Toyama, art director Isao Takahashi and writer/character designer Naoko Sato.

It seems that we can expect a title that resembles the first game. Sato comments that Siren 2 carries the atmosphere of "Japanese Horror" that made the first title so memorable, complete with Japanese locals and items inspired by real objects. According to Takahashi, the development staff once again traveled throughout Japan for materials, and even had to gain permission to enter some forbidden areas. Throughout the course of taking over 30,000 pictures, it seems that there weren't any major injuries (although everyone wore hardhats just in case).

Included in those 30,000 pictures are shots of abandoned facilities, machines that no one knows how to use (that's creepy in its own right), tools that have been overused (also creepy) and wooden structures. You can take a look at some of the shots that the team grabbed by viewing the Siren 2 website under the "Materials" section. Weathered concrete and metal objects will form the key visual points for the sequel, according to Takahashi.

As with part one, the setting and objects aren't the only areas of the game based on reality. In-game characters are all made in the likeness of they actors that portray them for voice recording and motion capture sessions. It's unknown if SCE will make use of the real-life portraits that gave the original an added sense of creepiness, but the 3D models will have a more realistic look thanks to the use of facial models scanned in 3D directly from the actors. A number of real animals were also captured, with Takahashi revealing that the game will pair players up with a dog at some points.

A number of major changes are being planned for the sequel. Toyama reveals that the complicated scenario system from the original has been simplified somewhat, but in its place is a new mystery component to the storyline.

The main villain for the sequel, the Yamibito, should add some new dimensions to gameplay. Unlike the Shibito of the original, the Yamibito have a clear weakness in the form of the red light that serves as a center point of the Siren 2 storyline. In exchange, they're more clever than the Shibito. Takahashi, incidentally, describes the Yambito as being human-like, but at the same time nothing like humans.

Sato provides only one hint at what we can expect from the characters in Siren 2. One character (we're not sure if he's playable or not) will be a soldier in the Japanese Self Defense Force. Sato comments that researching the Self Defense Force in order to create this character was one of her favorite parts of the game's development.

To accurately represent the Yambito and the world of Siren 2, the development staff has had to do a bit of work on the game's graphics engine. Toyama reveals that a new lighting engine has been created in order to properly show off the world -- a good thing, since red light plays such an important role. In addition, the team has created new wave effects in order to show water. Toyama felt it unfortunate that players couldn't walk along the shore of the red sea from the original. That won't be a problem for part 2.

Closing off this brief update on the title, Toyama states that while the first Siren was full of experimentation, Siren 2 will be on more solid ground, and will be more refined as a result. We loved the original, so if SCE can deliver an improved sequel on the current generation PlayStation, we'll take it!

Also, theres a very large image gallery with 59 pictures. Found Here
Oh my... I am SO EXCITED!

And I have the Japanese release date we've all been clamoring for!

Yes, thats right. Siren 2 will be released on December 31st of this year. So we can except to get our hands on it sometime in the new year.

Hello, all. I just joined this community the other day. Obviously, I am a huge fan of Forbidden Siren - I only bought it the other week. From the moment I started to play it, I was completely and utterly hooked. Definetely one of the most original and challenging games I have ever played.

I also come asking for help. I'm nearly at the end of the game (only have three more mission objectives to complete). However:

I'm having a bit of trouble with Jun Kajiro, during the Inferno stage. Okay, a lot of trouble. Shooting him is hard enough, but then I get to the part where I have to activate Uryen to defeat him. I have consulted a walkthrough, and, all it tells me is to just keep running to get a good distance away, then activate Uryen.

However, this is not helping at all. I keep finding that Jun is just too fast, so I can't hit him. >< Naturally, this is causing me a lot of aggravation.

In other words, does anyone here have any better tips on how to defeat him? Any help is greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks. =)

EDIT: No worries, I've got the hang of it now, so just feel free to ignore what lies behind that LJ-cut........ =)
