Hey Ladies!

I want to give my husband an amazing anniversay and Christmas this year! (Our anniversay is in mid December.)

Anyone know where I can get some tickets for the Packers/Lions game at Lambeu in December? We have a tradtion of going to one Pack game a year, and this we really want to go to Lambeu!

Any help you could give would be great! We live in Michigan, and are eagerly looking forward to getting into Green Bay! We went to the Lions/Pack game at Ford last year, and it just wasn't the same. (Although by the end of the game, the stands were made up of mostly green, and a clear, "Go Pack Go" was heard.) My husband is originally from Wisconsin (Milwaukee area), and hasn't lost his roots. Thank God for NFL Sunday Ticket!

I can be reached at cchristman2006@hotmail.com with any ticket information.

Thank you!!

Go Packers! Go Rodgers!

(I think my favorite sign from Monday: Welcome to Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood!)

AFL teams in Germany

Well, not so much news for you, but kinda interesting for me.
2Plus (a German company) made an exclusive contract with the AFL and together they're planning on expanding to Germany. These teams are to be integrated into the AFL.
Personally I don't know what to think of it because after the NFL took the NFLE from us I'm afraid that will happen again only with the AFL. Once bitten, twice shy - I think.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Whether or not I agree with Brett Favre's decision to come back and play after retiring ( I don't) , I am still angry and disappointed in Ted Thompson's decision to treat Brett like an ex-spouse, who's face and family are no longer welcome around here. Brett was one of us- by proxy. He may have been born and raised in the south, but he was a Wisconsinite and beloved Packer for 14 years. I had accepted our fate and planned to move on with A-Rod, but when I heard HE was coming out of retirement, I admit, I became giddy with hopes of another Super Bowl run. Watching and following Brett with the Packers, has always been a great source of joy and pride for not only me, but every Packer fan. Now the bubble has been burst- exploded really. And Ted Thompson has left us all with gum all over our faces. Ted Thompson SUCKS!.

New rules for the season -

Not sure if you gals have seen these yet:

- The force-out rule on catches will no longer be enforced. It's an incomplete pass unless the receiver gets both feet inbounds first or is ruled to be carried out after making the catch clearly inbounds.

-No more 5-yard facemask penalties. All are 15 yards.

-The defense can now have a player wear a speaker in his helmet, just like a quarterback, to hear signals. One starter and one backup can do so but cannot be on the field at the same time and must report themselves to the referee.

-A snap untouched is ruled as a backward pass and can be advanced as a fumble. All muffed handoffs and forward handoffs that are fumbled can be advanced by the defense if it recovers.

-Teams who win the opening coin toss can now choose to defer their option to kick or receive to the start of the second half, just like in college.

-An offensive player who sticks his arm out can make contact with a defender's facemask, but if he grabs it it is a 15-yard penalty.

Hawks vs Vikings on Friday! Can't wait :) Happy Monday all

Favre -Has He Lost His Mind?

I am shocked and disappointed in his announcement that he wants to come back. My respect for him as certainly dropped. he has taken a perfect career and a moving good bye and turned them into a circus. I can't believe how needy he is. Sure we all loved to watch him plat- but he said he was moving on, and so have the Packers, and Aaron Rogers and most of the Packer fans I have spoken to personally. This is Genereral Hospital and As The World Turns rolled into a really bad reality TV show. Stay home Brett- you've done enough good and bad top last a lifetime.

Is anyone of you playing football in a team?
I attended a training-session of our local women's team (Düsseldorf Pantherladies) last Wednesday and it was really, really fun. Although I had sore muscles until Sunday. (Who would've thought that being a CB is THAT exhausting and THAT much work?)
So, tell me about it. Whether you play occasionally or regularly or just if you want to, but haven't had the heart to do it yet. :)

I just found this community, and I'm so happy!

Anyone watch the draft tonight? I can't believe it ended 2 hours early....though the commentators trying to find something to talk about and sportscenter having to come on 1.5 hours early was pretty freaking funny.

Anyway, any draft thoughts? The colts were pretty hum-hum, a backup to Saturday? And the Browns not even having a pick...

Some Trivia

Draft Disasters, Bad Trades and Forgettable Debuts

Quarterbacks Dan McGwire and Todd Marinovich were both selected ahead of Brett Favre in the 1991 NFL Draft.

Giving up on him after one season, the Atlanta Falcons traded the NFL's eventual all-time winningest quarterback for the rights to rookie running back Tony Smith, who played just three seasons in the NFL.

Brett Favre's first pass in an official NFL game was intercepted for a touchdown. Favre went on to become the NFL's all-time career recordholder for both interceptions and touchdowns.

So the inevitable finally happened- Brett has retired. I know football fans eveywhere are going to miss the gun slinger. He put on a show like no other, while taking down every record there was. Add to that, he was a genuinely nice, good ol' boy and well, the combination was unforgetable, and quite lovable.

Hello fellow football girls!

The culmination of my mass culture class is a paper with the subject of my choosing. Of course I chose women and football. I would like to ask all of you just a few questions. I will credit your LJ handle. If you don't want to post, feel free to email me at rowansterling at aol dot com.

The first question is dependant on a male/female relationship.

1. If you are in a relationship, who is the bigger football fan? What are your opinions on why either one of you is the bigger fan?

This question is open to all female football fans.

2. Why do you love football?

You can be as long or as short as you would like. I thank each and every one of you!!!

And from AOL News:

--AOLNews--
The New York Giants' thrilling win over New England was the most-watched Super Bowl ever with 97.5 million viewers, a total that is second only to the "M-A-S-H" finale audience, Nielsen Media Research said Monday.
