My first attempt at pretzel-making:



I tried a recipe that doesn't involve cooking the dough on the stove. The results were pretty decent. :)  However, I'm still looking for one that has a 'finer' dough.

Do you have a pretzel recipe that have results close to the pretzels from Wetzel's or Auntie Anne's?

In retrospect, saltines would be good to replace pretzels. And, it is rich but delicious!

Next installment will be after St. Patricks when I make soda bread and shepherd's pie! I made Colcannon on New Year's.

So not only was today a friend's birthday, but it was also the big U of M/OSU game, so of course there was a big party.

Not being a particularly big football fan (despite being a stone's throw away from U of M's campus), I viewed it as an opportunity to make some yummy party food. I've been wanting to use my apartment's small kitchen for making something other than burgers on the Foreman, so I dug out this recipe from the community to make soft pretzels!

I had my first experiment with soft pretzels last night. Though they turned out OK, they weren't quite up to food_porn quality. On that note, I would like to make some that would be. I think I've figured out a trick or two for the salt pretzels, but I would like to make some cinnamon sugar ones as well. Any ideas/input?

This is a little odd, so where else would I go but here?

A former co-worker of mine came by the bookstore where I work nights and was cruising cookbooks. She was looking for a dessert she said involved "cream cheese, strawberries, or strawberry jam and pretzels." She was served this once and never got a name for it.

I tried the cream cheese recipes on the Kraft site and found nothing similar, so I come to you, pornistas, anyone ever have/try/see anything that involves the above?
