I don't quite understand the question... you want to use what is normally a meat substitute instead of rice?
Could we see the recipe please?

Ah, that makes a lot more sense.
I'm not sure how well that would work... since they cook at difference times so you couldn't just sub one in for the other, y'know? What you could do is just leave the TVP out (or put something else in like fake grounds by Quorn or Boca or Morning Star etc...) and cook brown rice on the side and either just have the chili over it or mix the rice in right before you eat.

the sub wouldn't work. however, you can get a close tvp analogue by buying a block of tofu, freezing it, thawing it (this changes the texture), and then crumbling it.

tvp is some great stuff, though.

I'm not sure about the substitution but doesn't sound like something I would try. The recipes on there look good however, and interesting new uses for pomegranate(which I love).

TVP is some great stuff. But if you can't get it and plan to sub tofu, other veggie meat, or actual meat (if you go that way), cut the water by at least half or you'll end up with soup.

also , noting it started out as diabetic recipe - switching from a protein to a carbohydrate is going to change the effect it has on a diabetic.
