Cooking Time
Hi guys, I bought some stuffed bell peppers at Ralphs today (they were half price) and I don't know how long I should cook them for. They've got a meat filling which looks pretty raw to me and no instructions. Help, I have no desire to get food poisoning!

America's Test Kitchen says to bake them for 30 minutes, but that's after the filling is browned and the peppers are blanched.

to hazard a guess, 400F, cover it with aluminum foil for 30 minutes and then uncovered for 10?

Best guess here. :\

It doesn't say. It's too light to be beef though, pork maybe? I'll try that method and see what happens, thanks.

I'd say after the 10 minutes of cooking uncovered, stick two knives in, pull in opposite directions and peek at the center - if it's still pink, toss 'er back in! >.>;;;

I've just taken the foil off, so we'll see how it goes from here.

In the end it took almost an hour at 400! I think next time I will take the filling out and brown it separetly first.

I thought it was a bit odd too, but it's definatly raw, all pink and squishy.

Oof yeah, you know you could also take the filling out of them and fry it up in a pan and then put it back in and bake it more, that way you KNOW everything is cooked :)

Yeah I'll have to do that next time, it took almost an hour to cook in total!

Get a meat thermometer. Preferably a probe style one. best invention ever. Set it for the temp you want and let it go, so you don't have to worry about time.
