haha...well king cakes are essentially a huge cinnamon roll...sometimes with fillings. then they have the purple, green, and yellow icing for mardi gras...and typically they would have the plastic baby in them. rather just make one huge cinnamon roll i did a bunch (so now we don't have to cut the cake). it's really just two cans of the big cinnamon rolls, then i put on the white icing they come with...then i added the extra icing in colors.

I had to do a double take on this as I thought they were some kind of squash at first ..

The remind me of one particular birthday cake I made for my dad 15yrs ago - I used black icing and he was completely repulsed - lol

But I'm sure your cakes like the one I made all those years ago taste great :D

Although on my monitor the purple icing looks pretty blue instead ;).

There's a good business going in purple-green-gold colored sprinkles during The Season.

haha...king cakes are a mardi gras thing. they're essentially a big cinnamon roll, and they are decorated in mardi gras colors, and there's a little plastic baby inside, and whoever gets the baby has to buy the next king cake.
