I am making Pasta Putanesca, but I can't use anchovies because one of the people I am cooking for is allergic to fish. They have some vegetarian worcheshire. I was wondering if I can use that to substitute the anchovies. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Try substituting brine packed capers, instead. They're vegetarian and so not fishy at all :)

Good luck!

That's a great idea! Try experimenting with anything to enhance the strong, briny-garlicky nature of the sauce...adding more garlic/olives/pepperoncinis, etc. will do wonders to compensate for the anchovies.

I'm sorry, I can't help myself....

About your icon.... the sky did fall in the connector tunnel.... :-) I'm sorry I've been hearing all week on the radio on my way to work on how the sky was falling in on the Big Dig.

I don't have a good suggestion, but I do love your icon.

I didn't like anchovies for a long time, so I just used to leave them out. The olives, capers, garlic, and chili in the sauce are plenty flavour anyway.

Also, icon love. :-)
