My mom usually makes this for Valentine's Day. I can't remember why we only make it once a year. Possibly because it's not low-calorie in any way whatso ever. lol Oreos, cream cheese, cool whip and pudding.

Dirt Cake )

It's not exactly cooking from scratch, but it is chocolatey porny goodness.

Back to them Baby Backs!

Gotta love baby back ribs. Put these in a salt and brown sugar brine, very juicy!!

UPDATE HERE:

For the recipe: I don't really have a recipe but I used a side of ribs and put them in a roasting pan. Covered them with room temp water. Then I poured the Kosher Salt into the pan (All over the ribs, it will desolve) about 1/4 cup. Then I added about 1/8 cup (You can add more, it's ok) brown sugar. Leave it soaking for about 1 hour. Be carefull not to over soak or they will get salty.

Cookin:
I pre-heated the oven to 350, after the ribs were in the over for 1 hour I turned it down to 200 for at least another hour. You can adjust the temp more if you want but don't get to high or all the fat will disolve and you will have dry meat.
When your happy with the doneness turn it up to 350 and lather on the bbq sauce and cook it till you like the sauce consistency.

So many vanilla beans

  • Feb. 24th, 2008 at 8:34 PM
Sorry for the lack of photos but I thought you guys would be the people to ask.

I bought 1/4 pound of vanilla beans from the Organic Vanilla Bean people on ebay - 27 beans for $7.00. Great deal! But now what do I do with them?!

I gave 5 away to a friend, and I put 2 in a bag of sugar. Now I have the rest sitting in a ziploc bag in the fridge taunting me.

I'm not a huge fan of sweets but I really want to make vanilla bean cheesecake squares... anyone have a good recipe?

Aside from that I really don't know what to make... Any help? Or any ideas for long-term storage solutions?

Thanks!
