These are copied from dedicated to [info]fiercekitty and her icing recipe (I took a break and chilled it a bit before I iced the rest of these and it worked a lot better for me)!

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 10:38 AM
So I had this brilliant [insert sarcasm] idea of replacing the stemless strawberry bushes with wooden picks because I wanted to insist on having "stems":

GAH...What was I thinking?!?

[Chocolate used: Callebaut milk chocolate]

Have you had any not-so-brilliant food ideas lately? Please share...

What are your favorite things to make and then freeze for later use?

Breads? Pierogies? Gnocchi? Cookies? Meatballs?

Brownies!

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 8:25 PM
I'm very new to baking and cooking in general. My friends keep making jokes because I've also started to be more interested in clothing and hair and whatnot and they say that I'm "Finally becoming a woman" :-P

Anyways, today I made brownies from scratch for the first time and I thought I'd share with you the fruits of my labor. I have to admit that I didn't actually like them that much but my folks did so perhaps it's just me.

Asparagus

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 9:21 PM
Mmmmm, I love asparagus...

I finally allowed myself to splurge on a bundle. I usually steam my asparagus and serve it with white or brown rice and a sauce made of garlic, lemon, butter, and olive oil.

The problem is, in my new apartment, I do not have a steaming basket. Is there any other way I could steam these beautiful puppies?

Thanks!
