Even mods mess up once in a while, I reckon. ;)
This is for
lilpix33 who had written a post about a cake they had made with penguins on it (I'm sorry I can't remember your user name and I can't pull up the information):
I rejected your post by accident, the second time. I am SO sorry. Can you please submit it again?
Again, so SO sorry!

I hope this is okay, as I didn't make this, but I wanted to share because I thought it was really lovely.
My daughter had her first birthday a few weeks ago. This was the cake we got.

The cake was layered with two vanilla layers and a chocolate layer, and fresh Strawberry icing (which was soooooo good) in between. The Icing was buttercream, and the penguins and snowflakes are fondant. It was the first time I've ever gotten a cake like that, and it was really worth it!

I ordered some whole dried ancho and guajillo chilis from Penzeys Spices. Each of them has a beautiful and complex smell. The packets for both chili peppers say that these can be used in making chili, and I was looking forward to replacing ordinary chili powder with these lovelies. The few chili recipes with these peppers that I was able to find talk about using ancho chili powder. I wonder what I should do with the whole dried ones, short of sticking them in the blender and pulverizing them to a sticky semi-powder thing. Does anyone have any other ideas or know how this is properly done? The current plan is to soak these guys, then mince them and put them in the chili, but I am not sure if this is a good idea.
In return, here's a recipe for a really good tomato-white-bean-prosciutto soup. Perfectly warm and satisfying, but pretty light on calories. Sorry, I don't have pictures.

I'm finally getting around to posting this:
( Pillsbury's Ham and Veggie Crescent Wreath and Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce )
Somehow I lost my picture of the 2nd dish. *cries*
I ended up with a lot of leftover sauce and stuffing, so I cooked up some more bacon and mushrooms and served them over toasted French Bread as "Inside out Stuffed Mushrooms with Peppercorn Whiskey Sauce". The recipe did take quite a bit of prep, but it was SO worth it! At the Allrecipes site, one woman complained that it took 3 hours to get it from start to table. I think it took me about an hour and a half. I'd recommend chopping veggies way ahead of time, and doing the peppercorn reduction ahead of time, also.
For the first dish, I was a little nervous about the pineapple cream cheese with veggies, but it tasted great! The biggest problem with this dish is that it's so pretty people are afraid to cut into it themselves.

Easy recipe, takes about 15 minutes and needs no real direction.
Brown garlic in olive oil with ginger, cook chunks of chicken breast, add veggies(I used an oriental stir fry mix, but whatever floats your boat, really), and sauce. Cook until you're happy with your veggies. Sauce is mango chunks and a pinch of sea salt blended with a splash of apple cider vinegar and pineapple juice. Beverage is cane sugar root beer. :9

When a friend of mine came over for a baking and movie play date, she chose this as the recipe that we would be making for dessert...despite my not having a HUGE love of brownies, with a dollop of freshly whipped cream, these went down an absolute treat!
Recipe and more photos can be seen here :)
