About EP
The loneliness is the pianist every night playing the same melody during an all-the-year-round snow blizzard. But one day a tropical downpour of stars start to flow down from the sky. One star appears near the pianist. It doesn’t go out. The pianist stopped playing: he has halted his breath, it has been light, peacefully and OK. He closed a piano cover and opened his heart. Space – it’s here, on a separately taken planet. Everyone WALL-E always has his own Eve.
About JeanBaptist – young, not indifferent, in love, from Chelyabinsk.

"Recorded in a church in upstate New York this album takes on the quiet, somber aura of the place it was created... gentle, folksy, Americana, recorded with interesting acoustics. This is late night listening. "

1. That People Don't Know They Are Monsters (4:12)
2. Bow Heavier My Lord (4:45)

Until 2009, the music of Yonlu lived only in the virtual world on MySpace and on Luaka Bop's Three Inches of Music series. Yonlu was born Vinicius Gageiro Marques, and he hailed from Porto Alegre, Brazil. The difficult part of the story is that Yonlu was a very serious and sensitive young man who found life in this realm unbearable. He took his own life via carbon monoxide poisoning while signed on to a suicide forum on the internet, and remained online to the end, just 36 days before his 17th birthday, and after writing a long letter absolving his parents of any responsibility whatsoever. He left his parents a CD of his music before he died, but it was later, while going through his computer, that his father found most of the songs on A Society in Which No Tear Is Shed Is Inconceivably Mediocre. To his astonishment, he also discovered that Yonlu's music had made its way to many corners of the world and had been commented upon by various friends, DJs, and critics.
That's the myth, sad though it may be. The 14 songs that make up this collection are something else, however. They're infused with a freshness, innocence, and musical vision that is singular in scope and breadth. Yonlu's inspirations were myriad: they ranged from Radiohead and Elliott Smith to Gilberto Gil and the entire Tropicalia movement to classic bossa nova. Indeed, if this music can be called anything at all, it is 21st century bossa, infused by lo-fi and post-rock aesthetics. Yonlu was a musical and cultural polymath (he was an accomplished visual artist) whose sensitivity was matched only by his ability to realize his creativity. Check the tape manipulation skullduggery in "A Boy and a Tiger," where new acoustic, indie rock, samba, hip-hop, and spoken word all take their place in a mix that is dazzling in its reach yet utterly breezy in its space. "Humiliation" weaves together the tenderness of Caetano Veloso with the emotional pathos of Smith and Badly Drawn Boy. His cover of the Kings of Convenience's "Little Kids" is brief, but draws equally on shimmering bossa rhythms, overdubbed acoustic guitars, what sounds like a harp, and a rather complex bassline. Likewise his reading of the great gaucho artist Vitor Ramil's (another big influence on Yonlu) "Estrela Estrela," which is done reverentially and tenderly, carrying within it all the honest, open emotion of the original and adding intricately woven acoustic and nylon-string guitars. But the true wealth of this material lies in Yonlu's own songs. Of course it is tempting to read this through his tragic biography, but to do so would sell this music short. Check the primitive bossa meets futuristic MPB of "Ole Por Nos," with its delicately layered vocals, the messed up folktronica of "Q-Tip," or the glitchy edited loops on "Deskjet Remix with Sabrepulse," directed by the sounds of a charango. The set closes with "Waterfall," an utterly gorgeous and haunting folk song where layers upon layers of vocal harmony are chanted, sometimes in falsetto, sometimes in basso, and fall around an acoustic guitar treated with lacey reverb, sparse keyboards, and an atmosphere so thick its beauty is almost Baroque -- and all this before the rhythm loops kick in. It is as celebratory, innocent, and unremittingly beautiful as anything you are likely to ever hear. This may be the only recording we ever get to hear from Yonlu, but as such, it is a treasure trove of complexity, mystery, and redemptive art. Indeed, this is bedsit music elevated to the realm of high art.

This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic. Message To Bears I know sod all about. I remember hearing the last single and thought it was OK but I wasn't particularly taken by it. The new album Departures arrived early this week wrapped up in string and brown paper and I took it upon myself to check it out forthwith as it looked amazing. The 2nd time I heard it I was totally blown away. I had the whole goose pimple bumpy arm thing which I rarely get with new music these days. It's gorgeous acoustic guitar music punctuated by some neo classical beauty. There's some amazing tracks on here.. check out Pretend To Forget though you don't get to hear the strings come in which totally haunt you (the downside with 30 second clips...). It's a beautiful piece of music. Throughout the album there's moments of sheer delight as the guitar and classical instrumentation (albeit produced on a computer) work hand in hand perfectly. Some of the strings and chord progressions veer on the mardy side and remind me a bit of Max Richter at times. It's all very emotive and moving. One or 2 of the tracks sound a wee bit like Tunng with the clicky electronics and acoustic guitar situation. Parts of it remind me of the Harps Old Master album by Phelan Sheppard and I think if you're a fan of that particular thing of lovelyness you'll like this. It's a complete fucking delight if I'm honest and it comes with my complete recommendation. Absolutely fantastic and I implore you to check it out!!" - Norman Records (album of the week)

Inocencia (Innocence) is my fourth studio album, a conceptual set of pieces intended to be listened as a whole. The concept is both musical and philosophical and is inspired by a specific book (I hope you can guess which one). For this release, I have decided to get away a bit from the minimalism of my previous releases and play more with post-romantic compositions, electronic, circuit-bending, noise and even some IDM. I think this is the most uplifting and cheerful release I have done so far, thanks in part to my situation while I composed the album, definitely better than by the time of “Ruido Blanco”.
Some friends helped me in the release of “Inocencia”, namely Sergio Trujillo (from my other band Nöno) recorded violin on many tracks, and Mariam Yakan (visit her blog http://mautomata.blogspot.com).is in charge of the graphical art, cover design and booklet. A special thanks goes to both of them. I would also like to thank Fran for recording piano and inspiration in “Estoy solo, contestó el eco”. You can download and hear the disc by getting to the previous page. You can also download the front cover, and (to be coming soon) the complete graphic artwork.

From across the misty hills of San Francisco, we welcome kid Shlohmo with his long-awaited Shlo-Fi EP for release at Error Broadcast. His instant-classic Shlomoshun EP made faces fall earlier this year but this one will boost the cat to a whole new level.
19-years old Shlohmo delivers the soundtrack for the LA aftershow party. His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples. It’s not Hip Hop what you hear, but the echoes are clearly there: under the blanket the beats are alive and kicking, the compression is awful (as we love it) and from the way Shlohmo arranges his tracks, it is clear what this kid listens to at night. Solanaceous and surreal music from the point Burial and Fly Lo let off.
