Guys, I am slowly but surely working my way through ten days of LJ backlog, and even though I am mostly skimming and scrolling, I still currently have 8235 posts bookmarked and 56 tabs open and I am sort of dying. I AM NEVER LEAVING THE INTERNET FOR A WEEK AGAIN, EVER, and I haven't even opened up Google Reader yet. Christ. Also, I can't even look at 82% of your posts yet because I haven't watched any tv except for The Winchester Pie Show, sooooo...yeah. Maybe someday. Expect comments from me in three weeks.
DOS
Ummmm, SPEAKING OF PIE, how did I not know there's a Super Wiki entry for PIE??!!! That is amazing and awesome. PIE. BRING ME SOME PAH. LOVE ME SOME PAHHH.
TRES
Also, this happened four days ago, but, AH HA HA, see above, and I still want to do it, because sometimes I randomly still miss this show LIKE THE DESERTS MISS THE RAIN, okay.
You know what’s coming up? October 3rd. Are you doing anything special to mark the one five year anniversary of Lilly Kane’s murder?
When you see this on your flist, quote Veronica Mars.
Veronica: [to Troy] Uh, your monkey's gonna have to ride in the back.
Logan: Ha ha. Nice car. God, that must've been a huge cereal box.
Okay, that was way too hard. I want to quote every line of the first season.
ALSO
Side effect of spending a week in Mexico: my brain is still speaking in half-assed partial Spanish, i.e., whenever anybody says hello to me I want to reply with "Hola!" and "Como estas?" and "Gracias!" and etc. It's a little ridiculous, because I don't at all speak Spanish, unless it's to order another Modelo.

OH man. A post of epic fannishness
There are, like, a zillion things I want to post about, things I've been thinking but haven't really talked about. Let's start with fannish things.
I was going to talk about how fantastic the new season of HIMYM has been, but
jlh already did that, so go read and squee in her entry because how excellent was that episode?! And if you haven't already read her Barney/Robin fic from two yuletides ago, then that's a damn shame and you need to get on that right away. (Yes, I've recced it here before, and I will continue to do so as Clio's contribution to my own personal canon continues to unfold right there on my TV.) For my own part, I really loved the discussions about place, obviously, and was bouncing around like a maniac throughout.
OK, so then:
( Including mention of due South, SGA, Jane Austen, Little Women, BSG, Californication, and Big Bang Theory. Um. )

distractions are good!
Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than twenty icons, post them all. If you have between twenty and fifty icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.
( iconses! )

Once, once, I knew how to talk to you.
I downloaded the Once soundtrack and movie a while ago, listened to the music (and enjoyed) but only got around to watching the movie a few days ago. What the fuck, so good. I can't turn off the music again. It was just a beautiful movie to see and to hear.

Some random stuff about me and my family
( First two points are about my grandparents and my mom,if you wanna skip that )
3. I have a pretty good relation with my mom at the moment because she cut all the usual annoying crap to a minimum and we have nice and normal talks which I surprisingly enjoy :)
But sometimes I could kill her *lol* Ok,so saturday,my aunt was in Koblenz and told me that my favorite handball team THW Kiel will play in Wetzlar (that's only 10 minutes away from Gießen - where I live - and we watched handball there quite often the last years) on November 16 and that I should try to get tickets. For her of course and I wanted to go there, too. As my mom and Günter also are very interested in handball,I asked her if I should order tickets for them aswell. Sure, she answered. Today I ordered the four tickets (yay, handball again in one month!),told my aunt that she needs to transfer her 20 Euro this week and my mom that I get 40 Euro because I have to transfer all the money for the tickets the next 10 days. No problem answered my aunt but the text message of my mom said she didn't have the money at the moment and Günter either. WTF????? WHY TELLING ME TO ORDER TICKETS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY????????
I can't and don't want to advance the money because 1. 40 Euro is a lot of money for me and 2. I have a pretty bad history of lending money to my mom: Years ago (when I still had the most part of the insurance money I got when my dad died) my mom needed a new car and I gave her 2000 DM (the old german currency)... and never got it back! I made my drivers license 2001 and my mom promised me to pay it for me as a gift for finishing school. Guess who never got the next 2000 DM back?!
You can imagine now that I don't trust my mom at all when it comes to money. She said I would get the money at the beginning of next week but I'm extremely sceptical :/
4. I don't have therapy for 2 weeks now. I can't say that I have a problem with that ^^ The last weeks - after the job interview - I didn't know what to talk about. Yeah,I always have my problems at the beginning with getting a start but then I usually talk without taking a breath *lol* Not the last weeks thoughs. It's a bit strange, don't know why this happens now. But with a 2 weeks break,I probably will have a few new topics then ;)
5. No big news on the job front. After the interview at Brunel,I got a mail that they would check a marketing assistance job in cologne. One day later,a woman from Brunel in Cologne told me on my mailbox that they had a interesting project for me.That was in the morning. When I called back later, the woman said that this project was already abandoned but she directed everything to a collegue in Berlin. And that was the last I heard. I don't think that I will get anything there. It all reminds me too much about what I read in this discussion board about Brunel :/
Last week,I had a little phone interview with a temporary work agency where I applied for a job (the job wasn't temporary though). The interview wasn't about this concrete job though, only to gather more data about me and see if my profile maybe fits to another job. The interview was then pretty short and easy. Just a bit talking what I did so far and what jobs I want. I also had to talk about myself a bit in english. That went surprisingly well.I never thought that my english was that good *lol*
Anyway,I also don't have any hopes for that but at least I tried ^^

Awesome things.
1.
jaynecobb2 and I have tickets to see the Smashing Pumpkins on December 2nd at Universal! I haven't been to a hard rock concert since Linkin Park in 2004, so I'm pretty excited about this. I have been a Pumpkins fan for about seven years so it will be cool to see their 20th anniversary tour! This will be our third concert this year... I'd say we are doing pretty well. :)
2. TWoP has a photo gallery called A Boy and His Terminator, which is basically a photo album of T:TSCC family shots with captions written by John. It is LOLARIOUS.
3. Info on the BSG S4.0 DVDs has been released. They are including Razor, which is kind of annoying since everyone already bought the DVD. And STILL no cast commentary, but the other extras look pretty good!
Less awesome: I am watching B-Roll footage from Transformers 2 for work and the director is a total ASSHAT. Is that Michael Bay, I guess? Anyway, he is such a douche of a director. Which is just another reason why I don't want to work on set!

Help?
So....I've got three photobucket accounts, since they seem to run slower the more you fill them up, and the other day I noticed I was locked out of two of them. It said my password was incorrect, but when I clicked the option to have my password emailed to me, nothing was sent. Do they just die out on you if you don't add to them in a while? I don't want to lose all those icons... :(

So I've been reading dooce.com, something I only do at work. And then, only after I've seriously RUN OUT of internet. Which I do a lot sooner these days, since I went cold turkey on
ohnotheydidnt*. So anyway, I happened upon a post of hers that I thought was kind of weird. And then I wanted to know what you guys think. Add a football-playing gorilla and a broken collarbone and it's practically a Question of Love.

Dooce says: Indulge me for a second and consider this scenario: let's say you're given the opportunity to donate some money to a desperate family who would use it to feed their children, but were only able to do so if you donated the same amount of money to someone you knew would use it to buy crack. Would you do it?

How Racism Works
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.
With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc., which team would you hire?
Educational Background:
Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire?
PS: What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter...
I snagged this from
yi_sen who snagged it from Daily Kos. It's certainly something to think about, isn't it? I'm not a big fan of the title, because I think racism is...more than this, but it's certainly a fantastic illustration of how racism is insidious and is impacting this election cycle in a way that I bet most people haven't even considered.
