I wanna know if there is anyone else working on The Magician card? We have one beautiful entry so far but I would love to see more. Please if you have forgotten to submit or are ready to post do so now.

Also I am looking at finding a few affiliates on Deviant Art to help us get things moving. If you know of a community that would be perfect for us or mod one yourself please let us know! For those of you who submit fanart to clubs on Deviant this is particularly relevant.
I posted a query to http://alchemic-artists.deviantart.com/ to affiliate with as a good example of what we would be looking for :)

A banner for [info]anime_possessed who did a fantastic job on the Ace of Blades and submitted it in time.  Just ask if you have any questions - it is presently linked back to the banner on deviant art.

anime_posessed,aces,banner,blades,tarot card

We still have 3 other cards that were never completed and I have a query. I wanna ask if anyone was still intending on entering but just needed an extension? I know its a really busy time right now, especially since we had the holiday in there and people tend to take vacations around it. The other Aces will remain open but since we did have an entry for blades it is our finalist in that category. Please remember that late entries will still be held in review at the end of the project if you really wanted to do it. Comment and let us know how you feel about an extension deadline, or the deadlines in general because feedback is good.  I would like to have a deadline set instead of an open ended gap.  The other option is to save the missing cards for the special vote at the end of the project.  I am sure there are other ideas and I know how painful it is putting a deadline on creativity but to make the project work we almost need to.

Also I was asked if it would be ok to cross-post your entries once they have been judged. As long as it is linked back to the community as an entry feel free to post it and pimp the group. That might change if we have problems later on but right now its great exposure.  If you know another community that would like to affiliate to us please let us know!

If the Aces didn't suit your taste please take a crack at the Magician!  It is just begging fanart :D

Congratulations to [info]feriowind, the winner for The Fool challenge! [info]greenfire_mantl will have a banner for you soon. (I think? Maybe?) Well done!

Major kudos, also, to [info]serpentdoness, whose entry was equally spectacular. I hope both of you are able to participate in the next round and many others. To all of the other artists: these guys have set the bar pretty high, and I can't wait to see where things go from here. Remember, the Aces challenges ends in ONE WEEK, so get crackin'!

Found in Wikipedia for The Magician (1):

"About his waist is a serpent cincture or girdle, the ouroboros, the serpent devouring its own tail. The ouroboros is an ancient symbol of eternity, eternal becoming, or transmutation and transformation, but in this case it indicates more especially the eternity of attainment in the spirit."

I should probably stop this, lol, but I'm fascinated with alchemy as it was once viewed in our world, and connecting it to tarot makes me happypants.  ^_^;;

Also, odd to note, this one doesn't line up so much with what we have picked.  Still, worth exploring.  That is part of the point, no?  ^_~

Quoted from Wikipedia:

"The conventional explanations say that The Fool signifies the flesh, the sensitive life, and by a peculiar satire its subsidiary name was at one time The Alchemist, as depicting folly at the most insensate stage. When The Fool appears in a spread, he would be a signal to strip down to the irreducible core, and interrogate whether the Querant's self-vision is obscured. It may also be a warning that significant change is coming."

How about that??  :D

I am not really aware of how many of you are interested in tarot itself? If you are and are familiar with different spreads, or have thought of creating your own arrays I will throw this out there... I am going to be working on making a few different array spreads to add to a basic user's guide of sorts. I hope this post will invite discussion. There are traditionally a few unique spreads for each individual deck, or if you go with a old standard there is a couple that you can model card placement upon. i.e. the Celtic Cross
This being said, I have in the past modified my own spreads to suit the query I sought most often. One of them is based upon a planetary placement, these could easily be translated into arrays. There are a few sites out there that talk about the different symbols, I am in particular thinking of modding the Celtic Cross into a Flamel. Instead of the 4 cards on the side I would probably give the cross a crown and wings. It's all really in the interpretation and drawing of the actual cards, but I think for anyone serious about Tarot this is creative project that doesn't necessary take artistic talent.
We are working on getting your first challenge up and going, I know a lot of people are psyched and I look forward to it as well. The Deviant Art and basic group FAQ have been posted... there are a few logistics we are working on but its to make it fair and to keep the project going for the long haul. Feel free to post regarding spread ideas with me. I am always willing to entertain discussions about Tarot if you have any questions and want to get started working on it now. Also we should be posting a resources page for everyone soon, but if you have resources that you find helpful and can link everyone that would be really helpful.
Oh and if your interested in working on the card descriptions thats always open too. We are using a collective source material, also I want to know how you feel on reversed card meanings. Do you want to know them when the challenge is posted?

Hey guys, I took some new found motivation and thought I would help out a little. I created a FMATarot account on Deviant Art for those of us who have accounts feel free to add it to your friends list and will add you back. I don't really have time to go through the membership list to see who has it and who doesn't, but I thought that it would be the perfect way to keep the cards together and display them once they have been voted on or however the process turns out to be. The way "clubs" work on Deviant is not really optimal though, as it requires all of the members to have the password to the account which leaves little room for error. It will work better if we link back the pieces to the original artists and ask that people fav them in their accounts if they do have DA or we can simply make favorites categories. The categories system is really nice now and will allow us to separate the Major and Minor Arcana as well as the suits and chart progress. (*psst might wanna update the new link on the user info)

A word on the banners and such, those are totally up for change. I did them with a piece of my own fanart (as it was what I had on hand and I wanted to keep it simple) and thought that as we decide on the look of the actual deck that the community and DA account will bear to reflect that. But here is the banner in all it's glory and feel free to link it to the group!

I should start this off by saying that, when I made that post, I expected maybe four or five people to go "Hey, cool. I'll do a few doodles." Instead, I have a ton of interest, great suggestions, and no idea what I'm doing. So, please, bear with me while I try to get things together.

Here's what I'm thinking:
Every two weeks, a different card is posted with a description, explanation, and example pictures from different decks. Artists submit anonymously, and everybody gets to vote. I realize there are pragmatic details to work through with this, but we'll burn that bridge when we come to it. Thoughts? Suggestions? Counter suggestions?

Here's what I need:
HELP! My artistic, technical, time-management, and organizational skills leave something to be desired, but I can delegate like a mofo. I need someone (or a few someones?) to help with things like layout and to occasionally throw shoes at me to get things moving. Now accepting human sacrifices volunteers.

I'm shadowen. My email is shadowenangel@gmail.com. Feel free to holler at me if you have questions, comments, or the need to call me names not fit for community comments.

Let's get this party started!

ETA: Or, you could just start throwing things at me and I'll sort it out later. Whichever. ^_^
