I am looking at making this a regular meetup. Like last week, I'll be in Cocoa Village (http://www.cocoavillage.com/) at 11:00 AM this Saturday at Taylor Park. From there, we can decide on where to go. So who's interested in coming this week?

Okay. I'm making it official.

One fur had a preference for 11:00 AM and one asked if it could be at 1:00 PM. Others who showed interest didn't seem to have any specific preference on the time. So, I'll show up in Cocoa Village before noon and others can show up when they can. I'll at first be at Taylor Park, at the corner of Harrison St and Delannoy Ave:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=28.354995,-80.725088&spn=0.003673,0.004812&t=h&z=18
which is one street east of Ossorios. When enough furs show up, we'll most likely head for Ossorios for lunch and wander the streets of Cocoa Village, which is mainly within the two blocks comprising Delannoy Ave, Brevard Ave, and Harrison Street.

I am starting up the Cocoa Village Meet again. For those of you who have never been there, this is a really nice location:
http://www.cocoavillage.com/
In the past, we have met at Ossorios: http://www.cocoavillage.com/gallery/shops/brevard_ave/ossorios/
Of course, it doesn't have to be that location. There are other places where we could meet: http://www.cocoavillage.com/directory/restaurants_eateries/
I am tentatively suggesting Saturday, at 11:00 AM if that is acceptable to everyone, but we can meet at another time if desired. So if you are interested in hanging out in Cocoa Village, speak up. :)
EDIT: One local fur from Merritt Island did ask if the meetup time could be moved to 1:00 PM and I am fine with that.

I've looked over my flight options for Midwest Furfest this November. The convention is being held at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, right next to the airport of that name.
Booking a flight from Orlando International (MCO) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD), the best rate I can get so far is with American Airlines at $315 (including the 5% discount negotiated by MFF). There was a Delta flight with one connection for $70 less, but I prefer nonstop, especially given that I'll be traveling with two checked bags, one of which is for my fursuit.
The checked bags is the deal killer, though. All these airlines now charge for each checked bag. My fursuit case and other checked bag will cost me an additional $60 each way, making my actual flight cost $435 from MCO to ORD.
So, I've opted to fly Southwest Airlines to Chicago Midway (MDW) since that airline is one of the few which doesn't nickel-n-dime you. I've booked passage on Flight #978 on 11/18/10 and Flight #3949 on 11/22/10 for a total of $219.40 round trip. I also called All Star Taxi and they tell me that they charge $44 each way, going from MDW to the Hyatt Regency O'Hare.
So my total traveling cost is about $315, including tip for the taxi each way. That's still $120 less than flying to O'Hare directly. Google Map estimates that it would take from 35 to 50 minutes each way from MDW to the hotel, but I did book the flight arrival and departure times to MDW to avoid the rush hour traffic on Thursday and Monday, so I hope it will be closer to 35 minutes.
For any of you going to MFF, maybe I'll see you on the airplane. If so, we could split the taxi cost. That $44 rate I was quoted was for up to 4 passengers.
EDIT: I forgot that I had a $36 voucher with Southwest, and now a friend of mine in Chicago will be picking me up at MDW. So it's now costing me $200 less than if I'd flown to ORD.

For those of you who are not at Anthrocon this weekend, how about we get together to just hang out? Anybody interested in gathering in Cocoa Village Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening? Andy is now old enough for his first outing too.

For over a year, I had the pleasure of having daverabfur as a roommate in my home in Cocoa, Florida. Today, he notified me that he will be moving out this coming August to roomshare with two of his friends in an apartment here in Brevard County.
So I am once again looking for a new roommate. I live in Canaveral Grove with a few small pets in a 4-bedroom house with 2208 sqft of air-conditioned living space. Two of these bedrooms will be available in August. They measure 10.5 x 12 feet and 13.75 x 14 feet. The larger bedroom includes a bay window. Both bedrooms come with walk-in closets and are already furnished.
If you are someone I already know and am good friends with, you'll most likely be immediately welcomed to stay. Otherwise, I would need to get to know you better before I'd let you move in. We could hang out a couple weekends in a row, and see if we'd get along well.
How much the rent would be is negotiable, but will include electric, water, internet, and telephone. You would also be covered under my homeowners insurance.
If you are interested, reply privately to this post and we can discuss the possibilities.
