I'm having trouble with Flock.

Whenever I try to upload a batch of images, it gives me this error:

So I tried a few more times. Got it again. Logged out and logged back in. Still got it. Upgraded. Got it. Restarted the computer. still getting it.

My patience is wearing thin. I don't have the time to sit here for an hour while I continuously get this message. This is no different than uploading images 20 at a time, which I do not have time for.

A solution or suggestions are welcome, ASAP.

Not only will it impact my
choices, but the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA)
manipulation of these rates, and the CRB's indifference will hurt
working artists, damage small record labels and force law abiding small
webcasters, already paying a large portion of their revenue per month
in royalties, out of business. This decision will also damage hundreds
of small businesses providing goods and services to working artists,
small record labels and small webcasters.

I respectfully ask that you evaluate the CRB decision and do whatever
is necessary to establish a reasonable royalty rate for all the parties
involved.

Who, What and When

On March 2, 2006, The CRB approved royalty rates that will bury any small webcaster, and create a heavy burden even for big broadcasters like Yahoo, AOL Music and Pandora.
How high will these rates be? Around 100% of a small webcasters revenue, give or take
a few points, in most cases. What?! That's impossible to pay! Yep, it sure is..

How did this happen?	The RIAA told the CRB thats what they wanted, and the CRB just gave it to them.

Your're probably thinking, hey that's awful, but who are the the RIAA and CRB?

RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is a lobbying group formed by the five largest record labels. They are embedded in Washington D.C.
They make sure laws are written to keep them rich, no matter what. They made headlines a few years ago opening
lawsuits against elderly people, single mothers and children for
trading music online, even though some of them didn't even have
computers. The Board is charged with determining the royalty rates that
would be determined by a willing buyer and a willing seller in a marketplace transaction. They decided to jack the rates beyond a broadcasters means
despite decades of royalty rates being 1 - 2% of broadcaster revenue. Raise your right hand
if
you want to take away consumer choice, hurt working artists, damage
small record labels and put small webcasters out of business.

Take Action Now

Write your congressional representative

Add your name to a petition

Stay Current on the Issues

RIAA Targets Internet Radio

RIAA Settlement-O-Matic

RIAA Pushes Through Rates Designed To Kill

RAIN Newsletter

Broadcast Law Blog

New headlines from Google

For Broadcasters

Visit webcastersunite.net for public service announcements, logos, and other resources.

* This site is brought to you by a coalition of independent webcasters who have had enough*

powered by performancing firefox

Hey Livejournalists,
I'm Evan Hamilton, the new Community Ambassador for Flock. Will Pate is still around, adventuring in the Great White North (which is apparently very warm right now), but I spend my weekdays in Flock HQ and will be your link between the folks that make Flock and the folks that use it (you and me).

So feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or comments about Flock. As for what's going on over here, check out this blog post about the immediate future of flock:

Introducing Cormorant

Keep on writing!

-Evan Hamilton
Flock Community Ambassador
evan at flock dot com

Obituary: Sculptor Herberholz forged love of art at CSUS
By Robert D. Dávila - Bee Staff Writer

http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/96768.html
================================================

Published 12:00 am PST Friday, December 22, 2006

Story appeared in METRO section, Page B4

Print | E-Mail | Comments (0)

Donald
W. Herberholz, a renowned metal sculptor who became a nationally
recognized expert on training elementary art teachers at California
State University, Sacramento, died Sunday. He was 83.

He died at his Gold River home after a two-year battle with prostate and bone cancer, said his wife, Barbara Herberholz.

Mr.
Herberholz was a prolific sculptor of welded metal, including
fountains, wall art and smaller objects. He sold works to private
collections and received commissions for public art, including an
African animal scene at the Carmichael Library and wall sculptures at
Arden Christian Church. He exhibited at the Crocker Art Museum and won
top prizes at the Nut Tree scarecrow contest in Vacaville.

Besides abstract pieces, he created whimsical sculptures
reflecting his wry sense of humor, friends said, including rabbits
dancing under a carrot tree. His trademark works were owls, including a
4-foot-tall figure he fashioned from hammered copper and named "Henry
George."

"He was just born inspired," said his wife, a retired CSUS art
professor. "He loved to make art, and the only thing that slowed him
down was macular degeneration he had the last few years."

Mr. Herberholz was an art education professor for 35 years at CSUS,
where he co-wrote several textbooks with his wife. In 1964, the couple
published "Artworks for Elementary Teachers," which became the leading
text for art education students at U.S. and Canadian colleges,
colleagues said. The book, now in its ninth edition, has been in print
longer than any other of its kind and sold more than 500,000 copies,
CSUS officials said.

Mr.
Herberholz was a strong proponent of art education who decried school
curriculums that emphasize "left brain" subjects -- including reading,
writing and math -- at the expense of art lessons that help children
think creatively with their "right brain," colleagues said.

He
supported the CSUS Barrio Arts Program, which introduces future art
teachers to different cultures, and was honored by state and national
professional groups for his support of art education.

"We've
lost the last of the pioneers on the importance of art education in the
schools," said Jose Montoya, a retired CSUS art professor. "The books
that he and his wife put together were crucial to the whole notion of
developing creativity in young people."

Mr. Herberholz was born to German immigrants in 1923 in Detroit and grew up on a farm.

He
earned a bachelor's degree in art from Michigan State University in
1946 and a master's degree from the University of New Mexico in 1954.
He taught art at schools in Michigan, Colorado and New Mexico and at
Bloomsburg State Teachers College in Pennsylvania for two years and
married Barbara Bailey in 1954.

He joined CSUS in 1956 and served three years as art
department chairman before retiring in 1991. He received the California
Art Education Association's Award of Merit in 1981 and 1988 and was
named 1985 California art educator of the year by the National Art
Education Association.

"Students really liked him," said Maria Winkler, Sacramento
artist and CSUS professor. "He was extremely knowledgeable about art
and really loved talking to students."

Mr. Herberholz enjoyed
combing flea markets for art books, collecting American Indian and
Mexican folk art and traveling with his wife to Europe and Mexico.
Friends said he was a warm, caring man with an offbeat sense of humor
who loved puns and wore a red clown nose while making Sunday pancakes
for his family.

"He was like an onion," said John Lopez, a Sutter Creek
gallery owner. "He had many layers to his personality, with a definite
bent on art."

    About the writer:

        * The Bee's Robert D.
I am a Flockstar.

Performancing with Flock and Livejournal compels me to do this shoutout.

Four months ago, Flock was downloaded and the experience is the difference between driving a US auto and swithching to an AUDI or BMW.

Performancing is available at mozilla.org and developed by Jed Brown and world's largest blogging collective. It improves on the FLOCK built-in blog tool the way browsers/WWW improved Compuserve.

Performancing installs in your Flock browsers lower bar with a small icon. It opens full-width with a menu, and two panes. It occupies the lower half of your browser and suddenly this seems the most logical place for any browser add on to open. And the other logic, performancing browser stay in the fore-front while clicking on tabs and visiting webpages. Exceptional.

Integration includes a full rich-text composer; blog activation at LiveJournal includes your communities for the quickest post option and the history tab opens the past 8 entries of any blog in your composer as 'plain text' or rich. It has a built-in 'notepad'; integrates de.licio.us bookmarks and tags; integrates technorati blog review, tagging your post and pings; to your post you can create TrackBackURLs; add-ons include Fire FTP, a fully-realized FTP and finally, at the moment, an extension called OakFlickr uploader which opens a sidebar browser (have not been able to figure this out as it does nothing and has no text on buttons and presents no options and I cannot make any claim about it's function besides it opens a 'blank space with buttons.')

In ADDITION, my favorite must-haves include cooliris and web snippets and squidoo.com Bookmarklet. Must withhold my opinion on JetEye service until trial, but have added this too.

UNRELATED shoutout for last.fm or http://www.last.fm/user/bluedecker97/ SCROBBLE your personal radio station's music.

bluedecker97
Wesley Miller
http://www.squidoo.com/shopsurf

powered by performancing firefox

Technorati Tags: bluedecker97, bluedecker97vx, bluedecker97002, performancing, flock, livejournal, LJ, blog, blogger, blogspot, mozilla, last.fm,

Ok, I like the idea behind flock, and I am giving it a shot. The RSS interface is very smooth, the flickr interface is just sensational, as is the clippings area.

del.icio.us and how it interacts with flock totally escapes me though. I have never used del.icio.us before, so I am in the dark. It seems to have published all my bookmarks to del.icio.us, ok...fine. I will figure out how to use or read that from my home machine later. Now, if I make a change to my bookmarks...is it supposed to push those changes over? I have for instance removed a few bookmarks, and added a few, but none of those changes are reflected on del.icio.us. I also did a double-click on the star, got the pop-up to define tags etc..., but it did not seem to do anything, at least there are no new entries over at del.icio.us. I don't know if I am approaching this wrong. Also, my rss feeds do not seem to be getting there at all.

Also, what on earth does single clicking the star actually do? It turns orange...great, but no tagging, no entry in my favourites menu, no reference that I can find except that if I manually come back to the page, it is still orange.

Also....can I install firefox extensions, or only flock extensions?

Anyways, any feedback you have would be great.

Help Spread Flock With Buttons

LJ Flockstars!

Get yourself one of the official Flock buttons and display one proudly anywhere you have a presence on the web. The time has come for us to spread the word about Flock far and wide to the masses. We're going to start with word of mouth, since we all care more what our friends say is cool than slick marketing messages. We're really counting on you good folks to help us tell the world that we have the coolest web browser.

Thanks to our awesome Flockstars community who helped us pick the best slogans for the buttons, you cats rock! If you want to be part of the action, join the Flockstars mailing list.

Hey LJ Flockstars, what's up? I'm Will Pate, the Community Ambassador here at Flock. Sorry we've been out of touch lately, we've been working on lots of goodies to make Flock better. Things have been slow here lately so I thought I'd start journaling here to get the discussion rollin again.

We're planning on supporting more LJ specific fields in the blog editor for the next major release, but we'd like to know which ones you think are the most important. Is it Music and Mood?

We're also planning some more cool stuff with what we call "People" in the browser, but more on that later.

Flock works great with LJ!!!!

Oh how I LOVE Flock!!

Finally I can officially say goodbye to livejournal for good. Minus actually being able to keep tabs on my friends entries!

I love the way the feeds can all be synched according to folders. I put all of my LJ friends in one folder, my favorite communities in another, and other random communities in another.

Now I can FINALLY leave LJ Thank you FLOCK!!

Okay here's my one really major huge request though.

Be able to edit the style / layout of the RSS feed from livejournal. Please! The white background is really hard on my eyes and I'd love to change it to black.

More customization options needed in that way.

Please keep developing this. We're majorly lacking on the using LJ with any other tools or programs so this browser is a dream come true for me.

Flocking Around

I've just downloaded Flock and I find it amazingly great. I know it's still a Beta and there is room for improvement, but it's heading in the right direction.

Two critiques, though. First, the annoying (sorry) little icon that appears when we hover over an image. It's quite annoying; I'm sure few think it's useful, but I really think it should have a way to turn it off in the prefences.

Secondly, there is a little thing that bugs me. I came from Firefox to Flock, and I really prefer Firefox's way of organizing the Favourites, since it enables you to do little borders, separating the folders or bookmarks as we wish.

Asides from that, I really like Flock's interface and the wonderful system of uploading photos to Photobucket. It saved me a lot of trouble to upload those many tiny icons I did. :D

I anxiously await new developments. :)

Keep up the good work!
