Preface: This fanfic and fanmix(es) are dedicated to the relationship of Captains Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann. It is not entirely friendly to Will/Elizabeth, but hopefully the music goes past other ships. The fic was originally formed as the explanations for each song, but it took over as itself and ended up being a separate feet all together. There will not be any explanations to go along with the songs, hopefully they can speak for themselves, but think of the songs as taking place primarily after At World's End, yet not entirely.

Please comment if you take anything, or happen to like the song selection, or enjoyed reading the fic. Comments are always welcome, and very much appreciated. Also, a special thanks goes out to brasaremean and dearest for the amazing textures used on the cover art. As a side note, Her Story Told and future stories can all be found at canvasdress, in case anyone is interested.

Her Story Told
She had been told the stories of buried treasure and ruthless pirates long ago, safely secured in her four poster bed, snuggling into her mother’s arm in England. Of course, the Elizabeth Swann listening to fairy tale stories, believing in the prospect of becoming a picturesque English woman had died crossing the Atlantic Ocean after her mother’s death. Years later when Elizabeth stood on the same ship over looking the black waves below, she discovered that her soul and spirit would have never allowed her to become the perfect women. She was far too stubborn for that.

Her feet tumbled as the black sail above appeared to suck all the air out of the sky, causing the Pearl to collapse into the waves. Smiling into the salt filled air, she heard the distinct grumble of the captain’s cursing, his only response to a question. A pair of ragged, lopsided footsteps dragged across the deck; stopping directly behind the rail Elizabeth was leaning against, face still toward the ocean. The voice slurred profound, drunken statements as the figure moved toward her resting spot alongside the railing.

“Aw,” he whispered into her ear, body pressing against her side. “Didn’t see you there, love.”

He pulled the half-drunk bottle of rum to his lips, her eyes closed as she absorbed his salty, rum taste. She gave herself up to the temptation; after all, she had given up her picturesque life for something of less certainty. Their bodies turned in a tango filled with mystic, limbs intertwining in a symphonic melody across the deck. The act reminded her of being dragged to formal dances in Port Royal. Her billowing gown swirling behind her, resembling a rag doll, being pulled in every direction among her never ending string of partners. Yet their intriguing movements aboard the Black Pearl did not resemble an ounce of her former society life. She was not at the disposal of those around her; she was the captain of her life and choices, not a doll to be pulled at one’s disposal.

Elizabeth Swann stood within inches of Jack Sparrow, eyes intertwining, his hand resting on her waist. Taking a step forward, closing all the gaps between, her hand moved to rest on his face as their lips shifted toward the other. He aimed and missed as the young Miss Swann dodged his advance, resting her lips against his check instead.

“I thought you knew the necessity of seeing, captain.”

He felt her warm breathe linger on his tanned skin, as her hand slid from his face onto the arm holding the bottle of rum. Circling the rim of the bottle with her fingers, Elizabeth drew the amber liquid to her lips.

“Drink up me hearties, yo ho,” she sang slipping out of Jack’s grasp, her voice dancing as she slipped away from him.

His eyes remained drawn to the lady, no pirate, as she slid into the darkness of the Pearl. He allowed his body to slump against the railing, completely lost in the rattling sound of his thoughts. The legend of Jack Sparrow dissolved with the water, the moment he dived into the harbor to rescue the drowning damsel in distress. Little did he realize that the damsel he was supposed to save did not exist. He witnessed the evolution of Miss Swann from the girl who gracelessly danced on an abounded beach, to the Pirate King that had seduced him aboard his own ship.

It had been over a year since he had last seen her. She was married to William the eunuch, Jack let out a snicker at his own thought, and off to start a new life with him. They bid a bittersweet farewell; the emotions were masked as she slipped to the boat waiting below. Neither would ever say that they felt a sense of sorrow. Jack would never admit that the case of rum he drank was to drown the darkness surrounding his soul; Elizabeth made herself believe that the tears she cried were for William leaving, not for the emptiness Jack had caused.

They were too caged birds locked in a world known for its hanging restrictions against piracy. He searched the seven seas for any news of the famous Captain Swann. She scanned the coast with the faint hope of seeing black sails on the horizon. Both were destined to live a life of their choosing, yet perhaps the one they did not wish to be a part of. Two years after their final act, he spotted her in Tortuga. Words did not have the capability of expressing the explosion of emotions erupting between them. Tortuga was the last location Elizabeth Swann wandered as an uncertain woman. She began her life anew aboard the Black Pearl with no strings attached to her former self, the Miss Swann of Port Royal.

They sailed the seas as the two most “vicious” pirates of the Spanish Mane, living the life of two birds finally given the chance to spread their wings. As they sat aboard the Black Pearl deep into the evening, gazing into the stars, she would stare at Jack who would occasionally hum the forgotten tune she had taught him long ago; knowing that her life with Jack was not the picturesque image of her childhood fantasy, but she wouldn’t change it for anything, not even for a bottle of rum.

The crushing waves hit the side of the Pearl, awaking the captain from his thoughts. He was in the mood for rum, and the pirate who had commandeered it.

It has been a while since I last updated, and a lot seems to have happened since. First of all, I have a new username, augurea. I will be posting my icons under my new name while at my icon journal. However, all my communities are under irishborn12, so outside of floatingmelodie everything will stay under irishborn12. Second. I made this batch during various times, and some for icon contests. Overall I am sort of happy with the icons, mostly the pirates and actress ones, but either way, please enjoy!

I hope to begin posting more regularly, however, will school rapidly approaching I fear that that will not be happening anytime soon. I would love some suggestions of topics everyone would like to see in the future. My next post will hopefully be a three-part fanmix I have been working on. Also, I recently finished my last requested icons. I have posted those for danvers, but was unable to find a way of working with the caps encircleme game me, so if you would like something else please post them here. I am sorry for this, and will try to work with some Veronica caps in the future in order to create at least something similar to what you wanted.

Yesterday after creating my recent batch of actress based icons, I realized that there should be an elite community for just actress-themed icons. Seeing none, I made one myself! elite_actress is an elite icon community for actress-themed icons. The icons can feature any television or movie actresses: Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Walsh, etc.

First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have finally completed the interest icons I promised. I was trying to make each icon different but some how they are all similar in some ways. Most people didn't tell me what they wanted, so I just went with the flow. I would gladly change them around if anyone would wish. I have only made two icons, thus far, for the two people who asked for three. For some reason the images were giving me some trouble. If you would still like your third picture, or would like to choose a different one, I would gladly make you your third request.

Please note that these steps will not work for all bases; also, this is a set of guidelines. Please do not copy the icon exactly and call it your own.

1. Start with a base. I started with this base and resized it to a 100x100 base from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

2. Duplicate the base once, set it to screen, 100% opacity.

3. Create a new hue/saturation layer, set it to screen, 32% opacity, and put the following settings:
Hue: +5
Saturation: +50
Lightness: +1

4. Create a new layer and fill it with a yellow (#fffc00). Set the layer on soft light, 79% opacity.

5. Create a new selective colors layer and put the following settings:
REDS
Cyan: -100
Yellow: +100
Black: +100

YELLOWS
Cyan: -32
Yellow: -42

MAGENTAS
Cyan: -100
Magenta: -100
Yellow: -100

NEUTRALS
Cyan: +58
Magenta: -21
Yellow: -61
Black: +27

Put the layer on normal, 100% opacity.

6. Create a new selective colors layer and put the following settings:
REDS
Cyan: -94
Magenta: +21
Yellow: +25
Black: -5

YELLOWS
Yellow: -38

NEUTRALS
Black: +15

BLACK
Black: +25

Put the layer on normal, 25% opacity.

7. Create a new Brightness/Contrast layer, normal, 100% opacity, and put the following settings:
Brightness: -5
Contrast: +9

8. Dublicate the background layer, place it above the brightness/contrast layer, and set it to soft light, 45% opacity.

9. Select all the layers and merge them together in order to create a new base.

10. Open up a new, blank 100x100 document. Paste the new base onto the document and move the image until Clem and Joel are in the bottom corner. Merge the layers together.

NOTE: The process with the coloring and the placement in order to create the final product are the same; however, I am now using the caps from the original icon. Meaning, that depending on the way you crop the original image, the outcome will vary slightly.

11. Copy the new base twice. Move the second layer until no white is visible.

12. Merge the three layers together.

13. Copy the base layer once. Use the smudge tool to make the backround of the image appear marbled.
>

14. Take a cloud texture, the one is used is from ofthesky, and paste in onto the image. Set it to Overlay, 50% fill.
>

15. Take the same texture and rotate it vertical once, and horizontal once. Paste it onto the same image. Set it to Overlay, 57% opacity, 78% fill.

16. Duplicate the smudged layer and drag it to the top; thereby, making it the first layer.

17. Use the lasso tool to cut an outline around the head's of Joel and Clem.

18. Take this texture by peoplemachines, flip it, and paste it beneath the cutout image of Clem and Joel, but above the cloud texture.

Long Time No See

It has certainly been a long time since I have posted anything. For a while I had very little inspiration, but recently I began to make icons again and am pleased with some of the results. I hope everyone enjoys these. If anyone has any suggestions for future ideas please let me know. Nominations are welcome and I would gladly do a tutorial in case anyone is interested.

Note: This fanmix does contain a few spoilers to Dead Man's Chest.

After seeing Dead Man's Chest I became hooked on the Jack and Elizabeth pairing. I'm not even really sure if any of the songs truly describe the pair, but with each song I have added a reason why I choose each song. Each reason is just my opinion. This is my first fanmix so thoughts on it are always welcome. Please comment if you take any of the songs. Also, if the links run out I will gladly upload them again. Each song has an individual link and at the bottom of the page there is a zip with all the songs.

[lyrics] Instrumental
[reason] This song is purely Jack Sparrow, "Why is the rum always gone?"

2. [song] Ride
[artist] Cary Brothers
[lyrics] You are everything I wanted / The scars of all I’ll ever know // If I told you you were right / Would you take my hand tonight? / If I told you the reasons why / Would you leave your life and ride?
[reason] I think this song would apply to both of them. Where Elizabeth is wondering if she would let her past life go and stay with Jack? And in a sense I think it relates to Jack asking the same questions.

3. [song] Leave The Earth Behind You And Take A Walk Into The Sunshine
[artist] Ballboy
[lyrics] Walking home with the sun on your face / And we're drunk again, but you like it that way / Walking home with the sun on our face / And you're drunk again, but we like it that way / Are you happy with your life?
[reason] I think this song describes more how Elizabeth is feeling. The lyrics remind me of the beach scene in Curse of the Black Pearl and later of the Dauntless after she agrees to marry Norrington.

4. [song] Swallowed In The Sea

[lyrics] All the streets you're walking on / A thousand houses long / Well, that's where I belong / And you belong with me / Not swallowed in the sea
[reason] "Will you be saving her?" I think this song applies to two places. The first being when Jack saved Elizabeth in the beginning of Curse of the Black Pearl and at the end of Dead Man's Chest when Elizabeth leaves Jack to die aboard the Black Pearl.

[lyrics] Blind to the last cursed affair pistols and countless eyes / A trail of white blood betrays the reckless route your craft is running / Feed till the sun turns into wood dousing an ancient torch / Loiter the whole day through and lose yourself in lines dissecting love.</i>
[reason] I don't really have an example for where this song applies to Jack and Elizabeth. In a way I think it describes their entire relationship.

They're one and the same / Just like water // Then the fire fades away / But most of everyday / Is full of tired excuses / But it's too hard to say /I wish it were simple
[reason] I found this song more about Jack's feelings towards Elizabeth. I think it's more where he realizes that Elizabeth is like the sea but where society separates them.

7. [song] I Will Follow You Into The Dark
[artist] Death Cab for Cutie
[lyrics] If heaven and hell decide / That they both are satisfied / Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs // If there's no one beside you /When your soul embarks / Then I'll follow you into the dark
[reason] I think song is more about Elizabeth after she chains Jack to the Pearl. I think it deals with her decision to go to the end of the world and beyond in order to be with him.

[reason] Jack's POV showing that he is just a man and not an infamous legend.

[reason] In Dead Man's Chest, Elizabeth's feelings after Jack fails to kiss her aboard the Black Pearl

[reason] I think this song plays on the time when both, Jack and Elizabeth, realize their feelings for each other.

[lyrics] Well, I've never prayed, / But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah / I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah / I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now / But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now
[reason] I think this song is more about the future. Where they think they know the outcome, but are unsure of where it will take them.

12. [song] The First Single

[lyrics] Well do you want to fall apart / I can't stop if you cant start / Do you want to fall apart / I could if you can try to fix what I've undone / Cause I hate what I've become
[reason] I have always loved this song, but last night while listening to the lyrics I realized that it could apply to Elizabeth. I think it describes her feelings on Port Royal society and how she feels, maybe, after meeting a certain pirate.

[lyrics] you've had some / crazy conversations of your own / We've got rules and maps and guns in our backs but / we still can't just behave ourselves even if to save our / own lives so, says I, WE ARE A BRUTAL KIND
[reason] I think song kind of describes pirates in general. It's about living and going wherever, in an upbeat way.

[lyrics] Instrumental
[reason] I'm not actually sure how this song describes the relationship between Jack and Elizabeth. I do think, however, that the beat of the song kind of represents the roller coaster ride that makes of their relationship.

15. [song] Chocolate

[lyrics] You're the only thing that I love / It scares me more every day / On my knees I think clearer // Goodness knows I saw it coming / Or at least I'll claim I did / But in truth I'm lost for words
[reason] I think this song represents Jack wondering if he really loves someone as much as the sea and a small deal of Elizabeth thinking about regret.
