Global Climate Change
Okay, now that the next part of the IPCC is out and the final arguments for not trying to fix the environment are evaporating, should we start a betting pool on how long it will take for the next argument to be brought up? Anyone want to take a stab at predicting what it's going to be? It's okay, it doesn't have to be a valid argument. That's never stopped them before.
Seriously, my prediction for the next couple years? I think we'll curb emissions by more than most people think we can and our economy will actually improve. Several countries have proven that you can curb emissions without ruining your economy. England and Germany are the best examples. After signing the Kyoto Protocols, England has gone above and beyond it's targets by almost 100%. Even companies in the United States are proving that you can have a successful business model and still be green. The naysayers are dwindling fast and instead of people saying "Oh crap. This is gonna hurt" They're saying "Hey, I think there's money in this." The US economy was bonked on the head by the war club in 2001 and has yet to fully run it's course to recovery. Some are still saying it will get worse before it gets better and they have ample evidence to support their claim. It would be ironic, would it not if the solution to global climate change wasn't also the solution to our current economic problems.
It might even restore my faith in the future.
