Passing the plate
I was going to limit myself to international things like wars, terrorism and anything else that could destroy civilization.. You know... the fun stuff, but this was too good to pass up.
Bernard Kerik... you know him.. the guy who looks like GG Liddy..... has set up a website and donations page so that his supporters can contribute to his "Legal Defense Fund" The web site is here: http://www.keriklegaltrust.com/howtodona
The punchline is that he's being indicted for misappropriating his finances. Feel secure about donating your money yet? Not to worry. There is a disclaimer on the web site saying:
"Any contribution you make to the Trust will be treated as a gift to Mr. Kerik to be used at his discretion"
It also helpfully (and in red, bold lettering) assures you that the fund can take unlimited personal contributions.
So relax. Donate your hard-earned cash to help him defend himself in court. If you don't, his $4.4 million in stocks and partnership in a couple successful security firms just aren't going to cut it. My god... he might be forced to hire a hundred normal lawyers instead of three or four dozen political lapdogs. We can't have our political leaders being treated like common citizens. That's just not right.
