So it looks like we're going to have day care here at the house for the next few days.
The short version...our friend H's wife packed up and left today-she bought a plane ticket on Friday and left him and their two girls, who are something like 8 and 3. Needless to say, he's short on things like day care...so I'm going to watch his girls for a few days while he's at work (he works with Cayne.) I'm not sure what to do with an 8 year old, a 3 year old and a Naomi. We've got a splash pool in the back yard, we picked up some games and coloring books, we can wander down the street to the playground, they'll bring DVDs...Friday we'll bake cookies, I think.
Wish me luck.

I just came back from watching Ugly Betty shoot for about an hour outside Trevor ... I was really surprised to find that MORE people (or slutty teenager girls) swarmed sets taking photos in NYC than in LA, and as soon as the scene wrapped they almost jumped Eric Mabius. I was pleasantly surprised to see only one shot ruined from some skank's flash going off in the middle of the take.
It was nice to watch the grips moving their gear around and I talked to one of the ACs for a bit -- I feel so much more comfortable in a power position when I'm familiar with what everyone else is doing, so I really enjoy watching the grips and electrics work. Also I have a thing for C stands.
It's both interesting and weird to see the show outdoors rather than inside at Raleigh -- I'm not a huge fan of soundstages doubling for real exteriors, but considering the light/weather/foot traffic problems that can arise, I totally understand why they have to do it. Either way, back to work ...
