Okay, I just noticed that the BR prices are up even more this summer: $7,960 for full session. They need more campers -- what are they thinking? Lowering it will get more campers to come, so they'd end up making the same amount. Seriously, it's gone up over $2,500 since I went there, last year in 2002 as a camper. That's just freaking ridiculous. More than some people I know pay for a year of college!

Friends of Buck's Rock Fundraiser: a West Coast event for Buck's Rockers

For anyone living on the West Coast or visiting the West Coast, we're holding an event to raise money for the BR Alumni group & non-profit organization Friends of Buck's Rock.

We present the world premiere screening of Jeffrey Paul Bobrick's documentary on Ernst Bulova & the history of Buck's Rock, followed by a short reception (with food!)

Tickets are $30 suggested donation for you and a friend, and $5 for each additional guest ... friends and family are more than welcome!

(An evite will be sent out in conjunction with this announcement to keep track of everyone attending!)

We hope to see you there, and if anyone wants to help work at the event, we'd love to hear from you!

Friends of Buck's Rock is a non-profit alumni organization that was created in order to provide scholarships to creative and talented individuals to spend a summer of discovery at Buck's Rock. Since 2004, FoBR has sponsored 12 young people, over two summers, and hope send even more with the help of member contributions and partnerships with educational companies like McGraw Hill.

I was wondering about alums or current staff/campers in the greater Los Angeles area who might be interested in attending or helping with a Friends of Buck's Rock fundraising event in the city. Also, if you are in touch with any ex-campers from LA or CA, please let them know--we're trying to find out how much interest there is.

my name is Laura (not Jill), and I've been a CIT in Pub the past two years...and Theatre and Clown are the two shops, basically, that I haven't been involved in (pit orchestra doesn't count, that was through MUSHED!)

I've been having dream after dream that I was trying to get my job back as a Pub JC. They've been killing me. I miss Buck's Rock so much...

So I'm writing a letter to Mickey and Laura, explaining why I should come back in 2006. It was a spur of the moment thing when I woke up this morning after having a horrible dream about everyone hating me.

I really miss you guys... BR was the only place I felt like I could really create. poke me and tell me when Festival is (i'm assuming it's the 23rd.)

I was in a bunch of clown shows, Dinner at eight99, Fergie's first play about telling the truth00, david ives one acts00. I helped direct Cant take it with you 01 and Cider House rules 01. I also made an awesome video in 00 where I beat Ferg-face with a newspaper for 45 seconds to the theme song from Clarissa Explains it All.

So...anyone I know on this community?
