    McConnellsville
I'm upstate at Rachael's house, which is truly out in the country. I always understood that it was in a rural area, but it's very interesting to actually be here and see it. There are more than a handful of cows in the area, and it seems to be quite a trend to put stars on your house or garage, but other than that, nothing super unusual.

The ride up here was kind of bizarre. First of all, the bus station in New York City was NOTHING like I imagined it would be. It was massive. Multiple levels, over 200 gates, tons of people milling around. I was shocked. After asking the ladies in the information desk for help twice, I found my gate and boarded my bus. It was about 4 hours to Binghamton, NY, and that leg of the trip was fairly uneventful except for the screaming child sitting two rows behind me. But in Binghamton, the girl sitting next to me got off, and a creepy/maybe drunk man sat down next to me. He played his harmonica the entire time. Seriously. But I arrived in Syracuse right as Rachael and Dougie pulled in, so the timing worked out perfectly and I made it here safely.

We went to a place called Liquor City yesterday-- I kid you not. And I found my favorite bottle of wine that I stole from my mother over the summer and drank while watching the Olympics with Caroline. Ahh, good times. I bought two bottles to take back to school, which is very exciting. I still love being 21. I haven't gotten over the novelty yet.

And, other than that, nothing really to report. Oh, except that I kicked Dougie's butt on Guitar Hero last night. You should never underestimate my skill at playing a fake plastic guitar...

    AHAHAHA LAST NIGHT

last night [info]invader_julie and i went out to a bar on river street and we made the mistake of taking our first drinks outside

mistake because it gave a very, very, very drunk homeless man the opportunity to talk to us. he wanted to draw our picture. LOOK AT IT:

i wish i had a recording or transcript of everything that was said
because it was pretty amazingly hilarious

In case you were wondering ...
    Thursday:
    12am till 4.30pm work
5.48 catching my train for The Casting out concert in Münster (20minute drive)
6.22 calling [info]sabrina2611 and arrange our meeting.
6.40 meeting her in the nearest McDonalds...
and after that time gets blurry ^___^
The concert was cracktastic (because ... well, Nathan (the singer) seemed to be high on something ^__^ )
after the concert we stayed for a little while and Jack is my new BFF now!!! ^_^
(OMG, he remembered me from the Bochum gig!! How is that possible??? XD XD XD)

and then we had to leave, because I had to catch my last train home.

After that concert I couldn't stop thinking about going again.
The next gig would be in Aachen (3 hour drive), 3 people I know would be there, too.
    WAAAAAANTS!!!
and it didn't get any better the next day, so I called subtle, told her about the Münster gig and then... well... decided to meet them in Aaachen XD
subtle offered me to let me sleep over, an offer I took, thanks hun!! :]

    Long story short?
I saw the same band live on Thursday and Friday.
I didn't eat much, I didn't sleep much, I had to work today, I wasn't online much and I didn't watch any shows I would have watched usually (Pushing Daisies, eeep)
But I had a great time with my girls... and the boys from the band ^__^
So it was all worth it ^_^

In case anybody would like to hear more or see the pictures of some of the bandmembers and me...
well... I can certainly write more about it.
But for now I'll leave it at that ^__^

Jim uses Battlestar Galatica to torment Dwight ...
So, this is Jim' attempt to bait Dwight into wasting time at work. I had to transcribe the dialogue because I was laughing so hard I was almost crying.

It's from episode 5x2, Business Ethics, which was written by Ryan Koh and that you can view at Hulu, which is what I used. And you should watch it because the transcription simply does not properly get across how good Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski are in this scene, both audibly and physically. I know there's no realistic way anyone in Dunder Mifflin would STILL think they are being filmed and that sometimes the awkwardness is so bad you have to look away? But the performances, I think, are what keeps the show tight, even when it's weak.

Oh, Jim and Dwight, I love you so. Spoiler cut, I guess, even though it doesn't reveal anything plotty.

    Ugh.
Too much to say for one entry. I'll just say I've been hella busy. But I'm making icons again and finally finishing some long anticipated VM smut.

I promise I'll be around more and I promise I'll post something with a little more meat tomorrow!

    Missed you all!

    I <3 NY
I just got back from seeing Spring Awakening. It was wonderful! I cried though, it was so sad. But amazing.

I wandered down to Times Square after the show even though it was in the opposite direction of my hotel. I just stood there staring up at all the lights and people, and I felt like it would be impossible to be unhappy in such a place.

My interview at Columbia is tomorrow. I really hope I like it, and I really hope that they like me too.

This is the second episode in a row of Grey's that has made me cry. The emotional aspects of this show are hitting me where it hurts, it seems.

In other news, I thought The Office was fantastic. Though I'm afraid Holly's days are numbered. I hope I'm wrong because I have finally found a deep affection for her. Tonight, Steve Carell reminded me why I love him.

    Sarah Connor Chronicles support comm
I have been somewhat glum over the uncertain fate of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I do not think we know anything definitive yet, but this waiting game is making me sad.

So I created a community to cheer myself up.

    [info]scc_support : A SCC Cancellation Support Group

    From the user info:

Recent rumors swirling about regarding the fate of The Sarah Connor Chronicles have been a bit unsettling. In the face of an uncertain future, I thought we all could use a place to cheer each other up.

This community is for challenges, games, discussions, polls, squee, gleeweek, comment parties, or anything to get us through these terrible times. It is a place, in short, to celebrate The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

This is not meant to be a doom and gloom community. We fully hope that the day when machines rise up and kill all humans is still coming. No fate, baby!

    Suggestions and co-mods welcome.

So please come join - [info]scc_support - and we will all hold hands and wait for the end of the world. Or if no one else joins, it will just be me trying to cheer myself up, which is okay and not unprecedented, but I think if a few other people joined it might be more fun.

    I'm Back
Okay CSI:NY friends, I'm officially back.
I can't get enough of this show.
Let me start by saying that a few things have changed.
Firstly, my favorite character has changed.
Which goes hand in hand with my favorite ship also.
Flack is pure love; I can't control my love for this man.
Then there is Angell, who with Flack is perfect.
    Sorry Danny and Lindsay.
Yea, I still ship you, but they just rock a little more.

    I love TV.

I love season 5 Gilmore's btw. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Giant T. Hatt
The C-Mart in my hometown is closing, and the Sun is making it out to be the biggest small-town tragedy since Columbine. I mean, seriously, it's a C-Mart. It never did great business. It was only there for like 5 years, despite the fact that the article talks about people who have worked for the company for 30. Yet still, the most recent headline reads, "C-Mart gone, just when we needed it most." WTF? What did we need it for, to tuck us in at night?

Speaking of night, I would now like to tell you of the dream I had last night. There are many, many details that escape me in my conscious state, but here is the best of what I recall: I was in school, high school, probably, though "5th grade" sticks out in my head for some reason. My teacher was Tina Fey for most subjects. But for social studies (I think? It makes sense) and math (makes less sense, but still valid in light of the most recent debate) was Sen. Barack H. Obama (D-Ill.). He was still running his presidential campaign, but, you know, ya gotta have a day job, I guess.

Turns out that he is basically the worst teacher ever, more insufferable even than Moldyface. He was a total asshole, one of those unreasonably arrogant teachers who freak out when someone dares to leave his class for an appointment. He refused to let this girl leave, even though she had a pass saying her brother (who was in the Guard, I think) would pick her up. Dream-me was shocked and appalled to see this side of the Yes-We-Can man. I relayed these feelings to Tina Fey later on, and she was likewise surprised to hear that the good Senator could act in such a way.

Richard Kind also made an appearance, but I forget why. Dreams is nuts.

    Ugh
After a few months of not complete and utter horror, I thought that 2008 might make a comeback and not turn out quite as atrocious as I thought it would be. Well, I guess it was just saving up for this past week, because I can now officially say that 2008 is just a huge ball of SUCK.

Alyss's first week at "Carlo Bo"
    Hi there!
Asap I'll find the time to do a report of my trip to the States. ( and pssst: I'm making new icons )
Now, I'm here at my desk..in my room, in my dorm.
I'm very busy. I started college this monday. I'm a freshman!

The night before the day I came here, I watched the first 2 eps of the S.4 of GG with my mom.
I like this place, except that: internet works since yesterday and I'm here since saturday, the proxy blocks a lot of sites and the tv doesn't work yet.
I share my room with my friend, we're attending the same course, right now she's sleeping and I'm bored.
Going to college is strange, it's very different from High School.
We already had some classes as General and Applied Linguistics and Communication Sociology... uh and also English..where I was really pissed off, cause there's people who don't know English Language at all. Someone read '23': "eleven" or "thirty" ...ugh.

    Tomorrow I'm going home I miss my mom, my room, my cat lol;
On sunday I'll come back here.
I already met a lot of nice people.. this city ( Pesaro - Marche ) is very nice, and the college is right in front of the sea and the beach, I like it very much.
Ok, now I have to go to the market, so..
    See ya :)
    -Aly

ps. Next time I'll post some pics of my dorm, my room and my college.
