Wow.
That just ... made me feel really good about working class white people again. ::sniff::
In less serious news, the new US version of Life on Mars isn't that bad! They changed it up considerably, and while there were a few shot-for-shot recreations, they altered the characters enough that the actors fit, and while Gene Hunt's role seems to be oddly both enlarged and circumscribed, I'm getting rather excited to see where this series goes. The new US version of Eleventh Hour was ... both interesting, funny, and boring. I'm not sure how that works. It also suffered from the shot-for-shot syndrome, borrowing wholesale from its source text. We'll see how both shows operate once they move beyond the original material and start to create their own plot lines.
I had a somewhat tragic conversation with a first-year grad student that was mostly great, except somehow due South came up and she expressed immediate disdain. ... At least she's heard of due South? (Finding the bright side since 2008!)
I need a political icon ... Urm, a positive political icon, that expresses support for Obama, possibly in a manner related to fandom. The 'Ravenclaws for Obama' icon is cute ...

Icons - The Lost Tribe (that scene)...
I came out of hiding because I got inspired by some caps of The Lost Tribe at
crysothemis's journal. Shallow, me? Not. I haven't actually watched the ep yet, but I couldn't resist. Behind the cut for major spoilery and if taking, credit please.

Cold, windy weather, whee! Except that the weather change is making my nose run. I'm sure it's the weather change and not a cold. I'm sure!
New SGA tonight, whee!
Three-day weekend, yay Columbus!
Dexter has been great so far this season, have I said that? Check it out if you haven’t, but start with first season. It’s a show that needs to be watched in order.
Hey, where is Reaper? That’s coming back, isn’t it?
Skittery bunny thoughts for the day: There were two weddings on the same night at my BIL’s place of work, which is not a normal place for weddings, so we were discussing in what rooms each one was held, how many people attended, etc. And I thought: Wouldn’t that be a hoot if they mingled somehow? Would John or Rodney be the groom with cold feet as one wedding exploded into a fracas of drunken relatives? Or would they both be groomsmen escaping from the forced civilized social revelry? Rodney should wear a kilt while John is in a black tux, because that would be… Guh.
Second skittery bunny thought for the day: John as a late night DJ. Not as articulately philosophical as Chris in the Morning, but still… what would John talk about, late at night, all alone with an open mic? Rodney would be working late, listening… something similar to that has been written, I know, but it was a random thought while listening to the radio this morning.
And to repeat, new SGA tonight, whee!

When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.
You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

Does this mean I'm just sad?
I just spent the last little while over at the ABC website watching the previews that they have up for the season premiere of Eli Stone. I watched three of them, about a dozen or so times. Each.
Actually, I don't care if it makes me sad. I love that show (and I also love stating the obvious LOL). I'm soooooo glad that it didn't get canceled. It was close, but for once I actually agree with a network decision. I just hope the season premiere is as good as I think it will be. Most of the time when I get this excited about a show, it turns out not to be as good as I hope, just because my expectations are so high. I'm crossing my fingers that that doesn't happen this time.

And you were expecting a Stargate Atlantis video? ;)
Well, whilst putzing around the PC, I found this video I made this summer on a drive home from a friend's house late at night. It was dark and the frogs were just croaking away like crazy, so I stuck the digital camera out the window and recorded a bit of it. Frogophiles will love it; it might also amuse the spare feline or two ;)

Stargate Atlantis "Characters You Love" #3 ad: Woolsey
Okay, I still think Teyla and Ronon should have been next. Woolsey's barely been on the show. But anyway, thanks to

Hang overs
Yesterday was rough. I'm never touching Bailey's Irish Cream ever again. What really sucks is that the stuff is super high in calorie. Now I have guilt. Thanks to the dairy in that crap, I didn't sleep well and was pretty useless yesterday. I ended up sleeping 9 hours straight last night. I feel great today. I even jogged in the park.
I recently got a dvr and I'm in love. This solves my Monday problem. Seriously, why does every great show have to air on Monday? Can't they put one or two on Tuesday or Wednesday when nothing else is on?
I watched the pilot for Sanctuary last Friday and I'm not impressed. Amanda Tapping's character was the only one even remotely interesting. Her daughter is too much like Billie on Charmed and you don't want to hear what I have to say about her. The guy is too much like Daniel on Stargate SG1...meh. I'll give it one more episode just because the premise sounds decent, but if it doesn't blow me away, I'm not going to bother with it.
I hadn't heard from my sister in a couple of months and had planned on not calling her until after the election. She was bitter about Obama beating Hillary and was planning on voting for McCain. Since she's even more passionate about politics than I am, I figured I better stay away for a while. I don't really care who she votes for, I wanted to avoid any fighting. Well, she called me and told me that she's voting for Obama. What a relief! Apparently the deal breaker was Palin. McCain should've gone with Romney or pretty much any other female Republican.
I've been checking the polls everyday and things are still looking good. Hopefully this ACORN business won't cause Obama any problems. I don't see why it should, but Fox News could find a way to spin it into something bad for him. IMO it was just some lazy employees that figured they could save themselves the trouble of knocking on doors if they just made up some names. Idiots!
Oh, and because I still have a picture of Evil Middleman left from
