Description:Helping writers everywhere improve!
About
Welcome to Fixing Fandom, the all-encompassing resource for and by both readers and writers of any fandom.

We've all at one point or another heard someone complain about "the good ol' days of fan fiction when badfic didn't run rampant." We've all seen the sporking, the ranting, and the wanking. A few communities have stepped up to try and help writers better improve, but they're often specific to parts of writing.

So what are we?

We are a community devoted to helping people be better writers. We would like to shed light on things we think would help make fandom better. What you post here can be as general as writing tips for anyone, or as specific as a certain problem in just one fandom that you think needs addressed. Badfic is a necessary evil, and it will always be around. However, we believe that there are many authors out there who would like grow and become better. We want to help those people. Our goal is to move forward and help to make fandom better.

Just to keep everyone on track and clear everything up, here are the official rules. Read them and take them to heart. Please note that we do reserve the right to change or add any rules at any time. We'll be good mods and let you know if we do. If you feel someone is in violation of the rules, have a question about one, or think there's something we need to add, please feel free to contact us.

1. Use common sense and netiquette when posting. This includes, but is not limited to: lj-cutting any excessively long entries or any images, not altering your font, and not speaking in "txt speak" or any other annoying variation.

2a. Do not rant/spork/wank here. When badfic is bad, it is very bad, and we all want to spork it to death. While this can be extremely amusing, this is not the place to do it (please note the list at the bottom of our info). We're about helping fandom improve! This is an offense that can warrant a ban.

2b. No "flaming" or personal attacks. Once again, we're here to try and be a part of the solution, not the problem.

3. Don't be afraid to ask questions or post something helpful! You will not be looked down upon. If you think it'll help you or anyone else improve as an author, please, by all means... do!

4. Don't delete entries or comments. Don't freeze comments. If you really feel that something needs to be removed, contact either of the mods first.

5. Tag your entries, please! Check the existing tags. If it there isn't one that fits your post, please make sure it's relevant to your topic. We want this to be an easy to navigate community, and we want all information to be readily available. Mods reserve all rights to edit, add, or delete tags.
