Friday lunches @ Tokyo Joe’s w/ The Husband are the bestest. They help me make it through the motherfucking week.

Does anyone know if there’s the text of Bunnicula and/or any of its sequels available to read online anywhere? I’m, um, not sure which box of my childhood books it would be in, and they’re on the other side of the mountains at the moment anyway, so. Help?

Also: Dear Neil Gaiman,

You are the most adorable man in the universe ever.

and then being yanked onto a stage to do backing vocals and what-the-fuck-am-I-doing-here-I-think-I've-turned-into-Davy-Jones tambourine on "Oasis" (which was... unlikely).

Where the hell is footage of this? Get on that, internets.

Also, William Beckett is now apparently posting badfic (that he thinks is goodfic, WTF? Bilvy?) in his blog. I had a sneaking suspicion that might happen when he put out the call for good fiction. *head in hands* Please, Bilvy, never stop being a ridiculous creature.

And Brendon Urie is loving The Kinks! C’mon, Bden bb, I know you can work a cover of “Lola” into your stage show somehow.

You guys should get on that AU...

Possibly only Claire and Kat will understand why I had a minor geekgasm* when google gave me this link: Browse the Artifacts of Geek History in Jay Walker's Library, and I first read the headline as J Walker.

Um.

I don’t have a problem, I can stop any time.

*We’re not even going to discuss the multiple geekgasms I had upon actually reading said article, because JESUS FUCKING CHRIST ON A POGO STICK. And then, my brain exploded.

EDUN Shirts

PSA: After months of waiting, the screen printing shop managed by the lovely [info]_k_bear has received information on ordering EDUN t-shirts. These are BLANK t-shirts only (none of the groovy EDUN designs), all organic cotton, and currently only available in white, natural, and black. They are available in Men’s and Women’s fit, for $5-$6 and $4-$5, respectively, plus shipping and handling. Some youth and toddler sizes are also available.

Sizes
Men’s S-4XL
Women’s S-2XL
Youth 6 8 10 12
Toddler 6-12 mo 2T 4T

These would be comfy to wear as is, or, if we get really ambitious, we could maybe organize a print on them for the upcoming tour, or something. If you have a print you’d like to order for an event, a band, or a cause, that’s also a possibility. If you’d be interested in placing an order of any kind, please let me know, and I can pass on the details, or put you in contact with Kabe.

Boring naval gazing for self-reference )

Also, apparently we get COBRAS Meet n’ Greet. Um. Okay. Thanks, Gabe!

See, the problem here is that the only band I have really ever met previously are a nice little group of lads from Ireland, so I’m kind of used to meeting the band = baking them cookies. It’s practically Pavlovian, at this juncture.

Urge to bake vegan cookies rising. Must quell.

My life, so hard, and etc.

PSA: If anyone wants to check out what music Neil Gaiman has been listening to lately, his lastfm account is apparently neilhimself.

Weekend Update

Dear Mormon Boys;

If you don’t stop talking about college football within earshot of my cubicle, I am going to write dirty, filthy, slash fiction about you. I won’t enjoy it, because neither of you trip my trigger, and, quite frankly, the thought of the two of you together pretty much puts a permanent safety-lock on said trigger. But I will do it, just the same, if you don’t STFU. And I hope it makes you twitch, even though you don’t know why. .

No love,

frog

Good weekend. Saturday I slept until about 1:30, with a brief period of consciousness around 10:30 or so, for cat-cuddling purposes.

The rest of the day’s activities consisted of sloth, sloth, and more sloth. Mmmm… sloth! Also, subjected poor The Husband to multiple episodes of Primeval. Poor, poor The Husband. It really is a terrible show. But, you know, I have a weakness for British sci-fi. Which I cunningly did not tell her about when she graciously allowed me to move in with her. *is tricksy*

Sunday we made up for the sloth of Saturday by getting up at an ungodly hour and heading downtown to the UU’s Standing On The Side of Love service at the capitol building. With music conducted by the lovely and talented [info]phineasjones. It was a beautiful service, in support of a very good cause. I got all teary-eyed more than once.

It was also The Husband’s first UU experience (my first here in Denver) and she wasn’t off-put by it at all. It was a very… UU sort of service, all in all, including a Flower Communion, and some people aren’t into that sort of thing, but she’s actually considering maybe returning with me to another service, so \o/ She really like the minister, and I did as well. Sometimes UU ministers are so calm, cool, and collected that they aren’t all that engaging in the pulpit, but this gentleman did not have the problem in the slightest.

I did get to explain to The Husband that UUs? Are kind of like the magpies of religion. If we see something shiny being used by another religious tradition, we have no qualms about adapting it for our own use. Likewise, we will totally filk a hymn if it suits our purposes to do so. Why bother writing a completely new tune when you can just change the words up a little and recycle an old one?

We took the mall ride down to Larimer for brunch, and bumped into a delightful elderly woman who had also been at the service (she spotted us via our flowers from the Flower Communion) who was most friendly, and encouraged us to come to a regular service at the church sometime. She was very sprightly in that liberal, active, older lady sort of way that one finds so often in a UU congregation.

Brunch was yummy, and also Husband approved, and I think we may be returning there again sometime soon. I also think we need to organize an afternoon outing there at some point, with the sole express purpose of drinking hot beverages and consuming CAKE. Because: OMG, CAKE.

After church and brunch, I think what we really needed was some matching dogs, and we would have been the perfect yuppie couple.

As was demonstrated in an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.

The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.

Brown vs. The Board of Education

By declaring that the discriminatory nature of racial segregation ... "violates the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees all citizens equal protection of the laws," Brown v. Board of Education laid the foundation for shaping future national and international policies regarding human rights.

Brown v. Board of Education was not simply about children and education. The laws and policies struck down by this court decision were products of the human tendencies to prejudge, discriminate against, and stereotype other people by their ethnic, religious, physical, or cultural characteristics. Ending this behavior as a legal practice caused far reaching social and ideological implications, which continue to be felt throughout our country. The Brown decision inspired and galvanized human rights struggles across the country and around the world.
