On August 13th, a friend of mine lost all of her physical possessions in a fire that consumed the three-bedroom duplex she was renting. It was started by a child that was visiting, an 11 year old girl, the half-sister of Renee's youngest child. It was a horrific, terrifying accident.

Her children, all 6 of them, lost everything. Toys, clothes, coats, beds, school supplies, video games, shoes.

Renee collected Wizard of Oz memorabilia. She loves that movie. If she was online, she would be reading WoO fanfic. Oz stuff and shoes, Dallas Cowboy stuff. Those were her only *splurges* and she lost most of it. All the shoes, of course. Most of the WoO stuff. All of her highly prized Dallas Cowboy shirts and a very nice jacket that had been a Christmas gift many years ago. Along with, of course, all of her clothes. And her bed. Her dressers.

The next day, I was helping Renee sift through what was impossible to save in the duplex. I took her kitten while her family was put up in a hotel by the Red Cross and I kept telling her that what was important was that she and her kids were safe. I hugged her while she cried and then I came home and wept at the injustice of life.

And then I called lostakasha.

I had just moved two months before this. I had given Renee and her boys everything that I didn't need/want. Furniture, clothes, kitchen appliances. Paring down my life, trying to regain control of my own issues. My son, who had kept EVERY TOY given to him since he was three, gave it all to Renee's younger boys. Tonka trucks. Electric trains. RC cars. A couple Nintendo systems and games.

That was all gone now, as if it never existed. And as much as I wanted to do something, anything to help Renee, I was tapped out.

So ... I proposed a bid-for-fic community to Annie. Wondering if that could help. I talked to my bank and Renee's bank about setting up a separate account just for *this* and finally, simply used Renee's own savings account. Which at the time? Had a whopping $25.00 in it. Just enough to keep it open, because we all have dreams.

In less than two days, lostakasha had created fire_fic and the sister community fire_fiction. I was astounded and thrilled. In a week, Annie had pimped the community all over Live Journal. I was dancing and promised weekly updates. Heh. *facepalm*

In less than two weeks, I was overwhelmed. Completely and totally caught off-guard by the incredible amount of participation that poured in from everywhere. From every fandom. From every corner of the world. Emails like I've never experienced, days where all I could *do* was answer and thank and sit here with tears in my eyes. People putting their name on the community offering web hosting, fiction, knitting, Christmas ornaments, homemade chocolates ... People that wrote to me and asked for Renee's address, sending her everything from boxes of sheets to boxes of clothing to gift cards for everything. Food. Clothes. People who clicked the Pay-Pal button and sent Renee whatever they could afford. Ten dollars. Twenty. Fifteen. Fifty. And so much more.

So many good wishes. So many healing thoughts. So many prayers and cards and notes that every single day brought joy into the life of my friend. A woman that, perhaps, two people on my flist have met in real life.

fire_fic is closed now. The bidding is over. fire_fiction is going strong, new stories almost every day.

Over $3550.00 has been donated through Renee's Pay Pal. Countless amounts have been sent to her via snail mail.

Her life is returning to normal, as much as expected. She's working every day, taking care of her boys. She's laughing more and crying less.

And this is all, in a very large part, because of you.

I know I'm coming in at the last minute, but I didn't hear about this until a few days ago and didn't get a chance to join and post until just now. I'd love to help out, though, so here's what I'm offering (all bid prices are in USD):

For a $1 donation each, I will make you any icons you want in the following fandoms:

Faith/Dean Fic for Sale

Here's the deal, folks. I have a Faith/Dean story, completed, that I wrote for someone else in this auction who ended up not being able to donate. So what I'd like to do is start the bidding on it. Being as I wrote this for charity, I don't want to post it until something is donated. I'd like to get $50 for it as originally negotiated, but we'll just see what we can do. Here's a taste:

In Bloomington, Illinois, when Sammy gets caught by a vengeful spirit, Faith does step in, smooth and sleek as the night sliding over the horizon. It’s bad, in the way that could only be bad where Sammy’s concerned, but she grounds Dean, makes him keep it together. Busts in the door to the factory with one foot and leads the ambush with a crossbow in one hand and shotgun loaded with rock salt in the other. And he’s dying inside, panic trying to claw its way out of his stomach, scratching Sammy’s name on the inside of his eyelids, but goddamn he has to stop to appreciate the moment. She’s unlike anything else he’s ever seen.

It's plotty in addition to the sex, focusing on how Faith fits into their world.

I want to get a little more money into Renee's account, so I'm putting the below up to bid (several are things I've already started, and this will give me the impetus to get off my butt and finish them). House of Leaves is the most recent layout. Everything is coded with CSS with the exception of Excess, Folly and Delight.

I have a limited-edition "What Would Spike Do?" bumpersticker I'd like to offer up for auction. It's a limited edition in that I never expected the online service I approached to actually fill the order (copyright issues), and indeed, the day after I received the bumperstickers, I got an email telling me they could not legally fill my order... um, too late, suckers! Ahem. Anyway, I've given two away (one to trepkos, and one to my little sis, who shares my passion for all things Spike), and I'd like to auction one of the remaining two in support of Snow's friend. Offer: To make a manip of any characters from any fandom (or crossover). Het or slash does not matter. Out of this manip I can make you a lj header, icons, a wallpaper or whatever it is that you're interested in.

Examples: can be found in my lj scrapbook, and the manips are under the manip tag. (Please note that my art includes wincest rated PG-13 and if you're not in the SPN fandom you probably don't know what I'm talking about and you'll be fine ^^,)

Specifics: I do not make manips of an adult nature. The completed graphics will be work and kidsafe. If you're requesting a fandom I'm not familiar with you might need to provide me with pictures or at least point me in the direction of where I can find some.

Donations: I'd like to say $5 because my bid at SC is currently higher than that, but anything you're willing to donate is fine by me! It's for charity, right? :D

Fandom Luminarie

I am offering a hand thrown Austrailian Porcelain luminarie with either the Earth Symbol from Stargate or the phrase Bite Me painted in blue witha light blue celadon glaze for the highest bidder.

It will take at least two weeks to make deepending on firing schedules and any possible casualties in the the kiln.

Offer: I'm willing to write a minimum of 1,000 words in any of the following fandoms:NCIS, Without A Trace, Stargate Atlantis Discworld and Criminal Minds. (All links lead to samples of my work).

Qualifications: I'm not a slash writer (of either type)... I played around with it once or twice in the past, but I've decided it's not my style, and I'm not too much for het either. I don't write NC-17, and any 'R' rating tends to be due to language rather than graphic content. I'm much more of a gen writer, but I can do almost any mood/emotional theme you want, within the above restrictions.

I'm not putting a dollar figure on the donation, because I'm not a big name writer, and I also believe that doing so creates restrictions for some people who would otherwise like to help. Generosity should not come with a limit in either direction.

Right now I'm willing to say 6-8 weeks for fic, mostly because I have a fairly heavy schedule, and because when I say minimum, it's because these things tend to grow on me.

So this isn't exactly the sort of thing people are offering, but I'm wondering if this would be acceptable. I'm way too overextended at the moment (and very short on inspiration) to offer fic just now, but I found this very cool thing while at Hepmom's house over the weekend: a Playbill from Noises Off in 1984, featuring two pictures of young!very!hot!Victor Garber. (I didn't even remember that I'd seen him in anuthing onstage--this must've been before Prelude to a Kiss, which made him the Next Big Thing on B'way.)

Would anyone be interested in bidding on this lovely bit of memorabilia? Is this totally inappropriate?

Socklets.

What's a socklet? Well, it's a wee sock, suitable for your Christmas tree. I've got some pics in my livejournal scrapbook here.

I've got bunches of colors in my stash, and I can get one of these babies out to you within two weeks.

$10 donation gets you one socklet in yarn of my choosing. Larger donation, we can talk about colors and/or patterns (like the wee sga socklet in the gallery).

At this time, I have no limit on how many of these I can do.

Photoshop

I have been off of livejournal for about a year now but I do go back and sometimes look around to what's going on. I heard about this community and instantly pondered at what I could possibly do to help. Since I am still rather new when it comes to fanfiction, i do not feel comfortable offering fanfiction for money even if it is for a cause. Instead I am giving the option of my photoshop knowledge.

I have been doing photoshop for 4 years now and on LJ for 3. In fact, it is my major in highschool. Graphic Arts. Examples of my work can be found at coldbloodedonut which has not been updated due to my leaving of livejournal. Also, past work is at engravedicons. But also, my favorite pieces are below the cut at the bottom of the page.

Fandoms:
I am willing to do any fandom but I do have a preferance which can be looked at it in my userinfo. I am, however, NOT willing to do personal photos.

Pictures:
The main requirements I have about pictures is that they are of good quality (duh), not too focused on the object (i want option as to where i cut the picture), and for the pictures to be of professional quality. Meaning I don't want live action pictures. If you do happen to want those kind of pictures, show them to me and I may yay or nay them.

Size/Prices:
The typical size for an lj icon is 100x100 pixels. I am willing to make icons, headers, wallpapers, and fanfiction headers.
For ever icon, I will make it for two dollars. For every 10 icons, I will make them for 10 dollars.
For every header, it will be 5.
For every wallpaper, it will be 10.
Fanfiction headers will also be 5 dollars.

Format:

the only stuff you can take is what doesn't have names on them. The ones that aren't tagged. :)

I work two jobs and life is a little hectic right now, so I'm only going to commit to fics of around 2,500 words and won't be taking more than I feel I can handle (I'm not sure how many that is yet lol). I can write in the following fandoms (an * indicates a fandom I feel strongest in because I've written in it a lot). You can assume I'm versed in all episodes of the fandom unless otherwise noted.

Ratings: I'll write any rating
Ships: I can write any het 'ships in the fandoms listed with the exception of Cordelia/Angel. Sorry. Slash isn't my strong suit, so stick to het or gen.
Genres: My writing leans toward the romance, fluff side of things. I can do gen, but I'm not big on angst.
