В течение первой недели мы изучали общие понятия о туризме. Кроме этого у нас было занятие по компьютерным навыкам. Я также сходил на урок немецкого языка для шведскоговорящих.
During the past week we've had mostly classes of Tourism Activities, as well as one class of Tourism Theory and one of Computer Skills.
In the Tourism Activies class with James we learned about basic concepts of tourism and about tourism in Finland. We also started to prepare the trip to Archipelago, which will take place in the third week (then I will probably be in Sweden).
The first class of Tourism Theory (with a different teacher) was about tourism history. I had already read about it, but I hope there will be new things for me later on.
In the Computer Skills class we were told about general rules for using computers at the school, got personal accounts and did a small exercise in Word. The study is going to be personalised, so I expect to learn new programmes, such as PhotoShop.
I also went to a class of German for beginners. This course is for Swedish speakers, so of our group only I went there. I am not sure whether I will continue it, because one class of the two per week coincides with Tourism Activities and besides the textbook costs 46 euro.
As for classes of Finnish and Swedish, they will start from the next week.
For the time being we get little homework, that's why I am also studying on my own.
I have borrowed a few books the school library. The library is small, but it has many books on tourism and languages. I have started to read a textbook on tourism and a book about Swedish idioms.
I've also borrowed books from the local library in Pargas. About half of the books there are in Swedish, which means that they are accessible for me, unlike the mostly Finnish-language books in Tampere libraries. From the Pargas library I am studying a textbook of German.
We are still six in the group, but next week may come one or two more students.
As for general practicalities, life here is well arranged. In the cellar of the hostel there is a laundry and a drying room, and on the ground floor there is a common room with a TV and a cooking corner with dishes, casseroles and a fridge.
The past week, from Monday till Friday, I ate all meals at the school (2 euros each). The food is good, but for me it is a bit too dry and spicy. As a Russian, I am used to soups and kashas. So next week I will eat just lunches and cook other meals myself.

со следующей недели, как только подействует супермазь с ядом гадюки на мой шейный отдел, планирую начать ходить в бассейн, ибо позвоночник надо срочно разгружать!
мусик-находка для шпиена рассказал, что в деабре к нам приезжает пойзонблек, еще в течении 2 недель решится приедут ли они сами, а еще в начале ноября вроде как ведутся переговоры над приездом супер русского дума группы курск.
а еще мне тут приснилось, что sounely снабжала aphelia_no_rei огромными дозами кокаина, а я планировала навсегда перестать общаться с этими мерзкими наркоманками =)

Первый день. Знакомство с группой, школой и учебной программой.
Today we had the first day of studies, though it was mainly organisational.
I met other students of the group: Irina (Ukraine), Antti (Finland), Magnus (Nigeria), Godfrey (Tanzania?), Jonatan (Mexico/Spain). Not all students have come yet, there will be ten or eleven in total.
In the beginning each of us showed an object having a special personal significance and talked why it was significant (this was our "homework"). Among the objects were an African musical instrument, pieces of sugar in specially designed wraping, dumb-bells, a university diploma and a mobile phone. I showed a Swedish newspaper with an article about the Swedish course, in which I took part 14 years ago.
Then the teacher (by the way his name is James and he is a Scotsman) made a good summary of the skills reveiled in the presentations of the objects, which were useful for tourism activities (design, music, photography, sport, new cultural experiences and preservation of one's own culture). He told us also about the study blocks of the programme.
After a break we took a walk around the school, the hostel and the garden. The school was founded in the 19th century and contains a number of rooms where the furniture, pictures and other items have been preserved from that time. We briefly entered other classrooms and greeted the pupils. After lunch we had a meeting about bus tickets, rent contracts and the like.
All students of our group will live on the same floor of the hostel (except Jonatan, who commutes from Turku). I will live next door to Antti, whose native language is Finnish, so I going to use this opportunity to practice it.
В выходные погулял по городу, вокруг школы и более-менее разобрал вещи в комнате.
On Saturday I went to see the town. I went on foot, because I did not know the bus schedule and also I wanted to see the way. I had a map with me, but I almost did not need it.
I came late and the public buildings, such as the library and the tourist office, had already closed, but I picked up brochures booklets from the self-service box. I went along the main street and took photos. The town is cosy and quiet. It has all the necessary services (library, post, police, employment and tax office), which are in the same building or very near.
Food shops were still open, so I went to buy food for the weekend. Unfortunately, there is only three food shops in Pargas and no Lidle among them, so the prices are quite higher than those I am used to. I bought what I needed at S-Market writing down some prices. Next time I will go to another food supermarket, K-Market, and compare. I also checked the third food shop, Valitatalo, and saw that it was more expensive than S-Market.
One has to go far in order to buy food: in total I covered about 9 km. Fortunately, meals on week days are provided by the school.
On Sunday I took a walk about the school. I also unpacked most of the boxes and arranged things in my room. In the evening I cooked apple jam - there are many apple treas around the school.
готовлюсь к новому Бонду. смотрю предыдущие фильмы, которые еще не видела. сегодня смотрела "Завтра не умрет никогда". Не очень мне нравится Пирс Броснан в роли Бонда, но фильм понравился. в особенности в этот раз машина у Бонда была хороша :) правда странно, что все бандиты почему-то крадут ракеты или спутники. неужели нельзя придумать что-то новое?
