From the poll results it looks like we are all in agreement with duration of the poll.
So, from now on, we are going to have a poll go up every two months.
The challenge for this month is going to be a general prompt.
Prompt:
The Three Broomsticks
Reminder: Any rating, 100 word minimum, any Seamus/pairing/threesome.
Thank you.
First off, I would like to thank
veracity for creating this community. I am happy to take over such a great community filled with such talented people. Hopefully there will be many more posts of our favorite Irishman. I thought that I would start out here with a poll to get a feel for what direction the community would like to take for the challenges.
( The Poll )
In just a few moments, your new mod will be taking over the community. I just wanted to say thank you for all you've done in participating. I'll still be around (after all, how many people are cracked enough to write my Seamus pairings?) but not as your mod. Be nice to Meg, please. It's her interest that is keeping this place running and not deader than dead. All right? Good. I knew you'd agree.
It's been a pleasure running the community, and I'm glad it'll be going to someone that cares about the character and community.
I'll see you guys soon.
Thea
This is hard for me to write, but I simply must. I’ve given considerable thought to it and I can’t keep the community. It’s not fair to anyone involved, and I don’t have the drive to take care much of anything. So, therefore, I’m putting it up for adoption. I still love Seamus, but I’m not entirely sure my love of the Potterverse isn’t diminishing.
To take control of it, you do have to meet certain requirements.
( Requirements )
If you can follow these basics, then let me know. I would hate for the close the community because of my lack of action and drive. The best way would probably be email, which is sharptongued@gmail.com.
New challenge coming up in the next few days, when I get time. Probably Tuesday. I'm also working on the August challenge, too. I mean, as in actually writing for it. News of what's gonna happen around here too. New things and such.
So, I'm a sucky, sucky mod. I know. I'm sorry. Please, next time I forget challenges, poke me. It happens a lot because I'm not the most centered, organized person online. Offline, I can find anything; online, good luck. So...sorry about the lack of movement this summer - it's entirely my fault.
But! I have a really good challenge this month. No, really. I've been thinking about it, and we've seen plenty of shipping pieces and whatnot, but have we seen a lot of just friendship fics? *hears crickets chirping* That's what I thought, and it's kind of sad, you know. Seamus is great to ship, but he must have friends and people he goes off with a lot, goofs around with.
All that leads up to this month's challenge: friendship. There is no limitations on the content, how long, or anything. I'm giving free reign here. The only thing I ask is that you follow this set of rules if it involved HBP.
That's it. Pretty easy. Enjoy.
Okay, I forgot to post this last month (along with the challenge; July's will be up tomorrow, by the way) but there is a spoiler for HBP policy July 16th, 2005 until September 16th, 2005. That will give everyone two months to read the book, and won't be spoiled, hopefully. After that, you'll read at own risk. I'm not going to make anyone sign and read anything like I did at
neville100, but there are rules.
They are as follows:
1. You must place any spoilers for HBP behind an LJ-cut. No quibbles over this.
2. You must place "HBP Spoiler" along with the title in the subject line, just in case someone skims the drabble info.
3. For this interim of time, you must bold "HBP spoiler" in the author note's section. After the time is over, everything will go back to normal.
I won't ban you here (since the community is practically dead anyway) but I will warn you if you disregard the policy. After that first warning and it happens again, I will ban you for that interim of time. That's it for the HBP Spoiler policy. Oh, and spoiler is defined by anything from the sixth book, which means whereever it picks up from book five until HBP ends. Pretty broad, but it was the easiest to define. The reason is that I know I won't be able to read it in completion until at least the Wednesday after it comes out, so I'm pretty sure other people won't be.
Any questions, post here. I'll try and get to them ASAP.
Well, it's time for the May challenge. I actually have one ahead of time. Aren't you proud? I sure am. *grins* With that news, let's get on with it, shall we?
May 2005 Challenge
Mother's Day
It can be his wife, or mum, or maybe someone else's mum (like a mother-in-law or someone unusual). Just make sure it's someone's mum. The only requirements to go with it are a handmade gift, a meal outside the house on the day, and surprising news. That's it. You've got all month to write it.
Crap. I forgot AGAIN. Sorry about that. This first of the month's been madness. But the new challenge is here. And it's really, really basic. I've had in mind for the past...oh, six hours (so much thought went in, can't you tell?), so let's get on with it.
April '05 Challenge
- Spring in Ireland.
- Seamus's view of the time.
- 250 words or less.
You know the usual bits, if it's racy or questionable, it goes behind the cut. I made this one short since it's so late into the month. Have fun, hopefully. Sorry again for it being so late. If you have any suggestions, you can place them here, I suppose.
ETA: For those of not in the country, have never been, I Googled some pics. Here's the link
Over at
hpawards, they have the special category for Seamus this round. Go nom your favorite Seamus icons. Give him a little more exposure.
*prods you along* Go on. Hurry!
So we know March has the best day of the year (what? I'm Southern, and really wish I could get to Savannah to grab some green beer, though I hate beer...): St. Patrick's Day. We also know that Seamus is quite Irish, so this month's challenge will be based around those very facts. Clever, little idiot, aren't I?
March 2005 Challenge
Requirements:
- Seamus must be covered head to toe in green.
- A Slytherin must be involved.
- A Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw must have a giggle fit.
- Snape must be covered in a mysterious green goop.
- A lounging leprechaun must appear in the Great Hall for no reason.
- Another Gryffindor must have the Kenmare Kestrels emblem (two Ks back to back) placed on their head.
Remember that the stories have no word limit. 1 word to 10,00 if you desire. Just have fun. And artwork is allowed. I like artwork. Heck, I still have the artwork from the wonderful
bowiemullet as my background. Two months and counting. So, yes. Y'all could do artwork if you're an artist (which I'm decidedly not).
Okay, so I'm really late getting this one out this month. Er, right. Well, see I kinda sorta forgot about adding it. *ducks flying objects* Hey! Be nice, at least I remembered mid-month instead of not at all. Or something.
So, the new challenge is Valentine related but not necessarily the actual day. And that makes no sense, does it? What I mean, is that it's about showing love, but it doesn't have to be on the 14th of February. It could be on say the 8th or the 28th, catch my drift?
February 2005
- Set in February of 7th Year
- The phrase "I love you" must be said in another language. Valentines has a list.
- A badly written love letter must be left on someone's desk.
- At one point, Seamus must blush deeply.
Pretty simple, right? Also, the pieces don't have to be 1000 words. They can be drabbles, slightly longer than drabbles, long pieces. There isn't a limit. I'm better at short pieces than long, so I can understand that. Now, go forth and write.
skoosiepants has dubbed January Ron month in her Month of Recs. So, if you have please, go have fun any and participate. All information can be found here. Go on, now.
Also,
gdye_trauda has opened
weasley100, a 100 for all nine Weasleys. Everyone should go join and have fun. Manda is adorable, and everyone in the community is really nice.
That's all. *grins* Just a pimping post. If anyone wants to pimp anything else, let me know and I'll add it.
I am none to subtle and the point of this challenge to get
skoosiepants to finish a lovely Seamus/Theo she has going. I tried and make it a bit more...vague for everyone else. So everyone knows, if someone wants something pushed along by another author, I'll do my best to help. I like well written fic, and am all for helping. What? I'm pushy. Really. I should have been a Weasley, I think. Percy and Ginny combined. Oops. Off-topic. Babbling. Also, any challenge can be written and posted at anytime, just say it's from "blahblahblah month challenge."
Onto the new challenge...
January 2005
- Has a child.
- Lives in the Muggle world.
- Founds out that someone from Hogwarts days has a connection to his child.
- They date.
- Eventually fall in love, happily ever after (well, as much as Seamus can be happil yever afer, cracked out character he is.)
The Challenge. Dur. I said by 9 and it's nearly 11. Sorry about that. I thought I was going to bed and didn't...got caught up in Marlowe the vampire. Shush, I like my cheap romance novels. Be nice.
So I've been thinking about the latest challenge and it's bad, but be nice. I came up with it just now. Next month will be much better. Promise. So on with the show, right? I babble too much, don't I? Oops. Okay. Really, issuing it now.
December's Challenge:
Drunk Seamus
It must have the following items in it:
- Just before Christmas break.
- First time ever
- Sixth Year
- In the dorms
- Prefect Hermione reprimands him at some point.
Just follow the rules in the user info if answering the challenge. Now, enjoy!
As it says in the user info, there wasn't a Seamus community, so I thought I would make one. I personally love Seamus and thought it a tragic mistake, so I fixed it. I know a couple of people who also love the character, so tada. Anything can be posted as long as it follows the guidelines in the rules. If you think the community needs something, please let me know here. There will be a link in the info page as well for later.
So..begin posting. Ah, the challenge. It will be up later today, sometime around nine. I might think of one first. Heh. They're a month long, since real life can get in the way quite well of life.
"This isn't about my shipping tastes, or yours - this is about the fandom as a whole. How do fics get around? Word of mouth. Good reviews. General friend-to-friend poking in a basic direction. I want to organize that process to make all of the fics we know and love easy to find."
-Each fic has to have at least 5 recommendations to get on the list.
-ONE [1] fic per comment.
-See a fic you like on the list? Reply to that comment with "seconded", or "I agree"

This list should be a great place to find really good stories. Go share!
