This is a community for all things Marc Blucas and Riley Finn, including fanfiction, photos, discussion about Riley and his interpersonal relationships, updates on Marc's career or life, etc. NOTE: This is a group for people who like Riley Finn. If you don't like him, please, don't join. If you do like him, please, join the group!

DA RULES:

Please note: If you have an empty journal--especially if your profile is empty--your membership request will be rejected!

1. Adults only. This means several things: Membership is by approval only, members must have their birth years in their profiles to be approved, and posts to the community will be friends only automatically. It does not mean that all posts must be adult. It merely means that I am taking precautions so that organizations like Net Nanny don't complain and shut me down.

2. Under no circumstances is there to be any fanfiction or discussion posted here where Riley is made out to be the bad guy (i.e., the entire fic has other characters bashing him, has him doing exaggerated whining or being an abusive jerk toward Buffy, etc.; a little bit of Riley acting bad for character development purposes and/or angst is fine--when in doubt, send an e-mail to dfasgiles @ gmail.com for approval). Basically, use your common sense based on the principle that this is a community for people who like Riley Finn. If any negative posts are made, members will be given one warning only, at which point they will be put on moderation. If they post another such negative remark/fic about Riley, they will be removed.

3. Discussion about Riley and his interpersonal relationships on the show is very welcome here. The more we explore this guy's psyche, the more we'll be inspired to write! WOO-HOO!

4. All fanfiction authors are required to put rating, pairing, title, and part/parts (if applicable) in the subject line of each fic posting. NO EXCEPTIONS. The headers of each fic post (including the beginning of each chapter, if the fic is posted in parts) are to contain any warnings pertaining to squick or pscychological triggers such as BDSM, sadomasochism, bloodplay, noncon sex, violent sex, character death, etc. NO EXCEPTIONS.

5. "Flaming" is sending angry or inflammatory messages to a specific person, generally in response to something the person has done or said. "Trolling" is the practice of sending or posting obviously offensive comments, brutally untruthful statements or words and phrases that we all know to be those that would instigate a fight if stated in the local tavern. If anyone does either of these things, that person will be banned immediately without going through the warning system. The same is true for harassment, which will be determined at the sole discretion of the owner and not at another member's word.

6. Other than the initial INTRO post (please use that in the subject line), all members should mark any posts to the group not dealing directly with discussion of Riley or Riley fanfiction with OT at the beginning of the subject line. NO EXCEPTIONS.

7. No destructive criticism of actors, characters, or authors will be permitted more than once in this group (e.g., "That was crap"). Constructive criticism, is encouraged and appreciated (e.g., "I think you might want to consider having someone beta your work before posting it to the group next time, as there were quite a few spelling and grammar errors in it, which distracted me enough that I had trouble enjoying your story, which really was quite good")! First offense will get you a warning and get you put on moderation. Second offense will get you removed. EXCEPTION: If profanity is used in destructive criticism, this will get you banned immediately, without going through the warning system.

MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE for avoiding all fics with subject lines and/or headers that either squick them or cause psychological triggers for them. If an author has used the appropriate warnings and still gets destructive negative feedback regarding the things about which they have warned, the member causing this problem will receive one warning only. Should the behavior happen again, that member will be removed.

8. Members are more than welcome to advertise their Marc- or Riley-related communities and sites here (they're so hard to find!), as long as the subject line clearly states MY COMMUNITY(IES)/MY SITE(S). NO EXCEPTIONS.

9. When posting, please make your subject line a brief summary of your post. If your post is longer than one paragraph or 100 words, please use an LJ CUT. If you don't know how to do this, please e-mail dfasgiles @ gmail.com for assistance.

10. This community is for recreation in celebration of two great shows (my stories will include Angel the Series in them) that gave us several great characters and situations to explore. In other words, it's for fun. Fun cannot be had when members attack other people. Because of this, no member bashing is permitted. No actor bashing is permitted. No relationship bashing is permitted. No character bashing is permitted. NO BASHING, PERIOD.

Due to recent events in other groups/communities/forums of this fandom that have happened to various people, I want to make something abundantly clear. My fan communities are for fun. This means several things:

A. Do what makes you happy. As long as it doesn't harm or defame other people or other members, that's fine.
B. You can't please everybody. Don't try to. You'll fail every time, and it's not worth getting yourself upset about it.
C. Be nice to each other. Don't pick each other apart for every little thing. We aren't a bunch of 2-year-olds who need our hands slapped away from sharp objects. We're all mature enough to know our own minds and opinions.
D. Don't tell someone else how to think or feel. That's their business, not yours.
E. Try to avoid sarcasm because of the tendency for misinterpretation when you can't see the other person's body language. This can avoid a major blow up in the community.
F. No like/dislike is wrong when it comes to characters, character relationships, shows, etc, even if it's different from yours. Please keep this in mind when posting responses.
G. Off-topic posts by the same person should be kept to a maximum of two per week unless it is an emergency, such as the announcement of an icon stealing site or a personal tragedy.
H. A good rule of thumb: Pretend you're hanging out with a group of friends. How would you act, then? Act that way here.
I. Posting personal stuff to the community is okay in two instances: a) if it is marked as an off-topic post, or b) if it is related in your post to the community theme.
J. People make mistakes, whether they're the result of pushing the wrong button, having a brain fart because of lack of sleep or illness, or being distracted by something. Give them a chance to redeem themselves.
K. Most importantly: It is the job of the maintainers to deal with problem posts. If you do not hold one of these positions, leave the offender alone. You'll only make things worse. Be assured that things are being handled behind the scenes.

RULE BREAKING: You get one chance per rule. You will receive one warning, at which point you will be put on moderation, per rule that you break. If you repeat an infraction for the same rule you broke previously, you will be removed. Decisions may be disputed POLITELY with the maintainers.

The owner has a real life that involves employment and other responsibilities that come before recreational activities such as Internet groups. Please understand this and take it into consideration when there are occasional delays in approval of membership or messages, replies to queries, posting of important news, etc. Thank you.
