Vanadiel Collection 2008 [Apr. 13th, 2009|07:51 am]

Quick question about Vandadiel Collection 2008: Does it come with the Vista version of POL, or do I still need to download that separately? Thanks.

I'm having trouble putting in my new credit card number. It keeps telling me that my address info is wrong. When I got through to support, he told me something new.

He said that I can only enter in new credit card info once every half hour. And not just one card #, any card #. Only once every 30 minutes, the rest of the time it won't let you.

O.o ?

FFXI 64-bit? [Mar. 28th, 2009|12:12 am]

silvermask
I'm shopping for a laptop, and I am really thinking that I'd like to go 64-bit. Does anyone have any experiences with FFXI on Vista 64-bit? I've seen some comments around the web that people have no trouble, and then I've heard from a couple people that FFXI runs terribly on their 64-bit and they wish they had 32.

If it helps, I'm planning on going for an Nvidia GPU (most likely 512mb ddr3 9600M GT), 4gb ram, Core2 Duo P8600 (~2.4 Ghz).

Thanks, all!

Warmed back in and... an overall goal! [Jan. 14th, 2009|05:18 am]

divinesoldier
Yesterday, I basically went from 0 to halfway to 66. I plan to get 66 un-aided in any way.

As of writing this, I'm logged onto XI (laptop FTW!) and am still actively seeking out a party. Yesterday I've had some fabulous luck in finding a party I've stuck with for around 4 hours, and I intend to find another party that can do that for me.

The members were rather kind when I explained to them that I might be a bit rusty. After about 25 minutes of partying, I got the hang of it again! Makes me feel great. That, and playing a healer in almost any MMO is like a very nerve-racking round of whack-a-mole. XI is no different.

Now I really remember why I liked XI: Because a lot of the people are so nice! Like, I forgot my macros, and someone from an old LS of mine just gave me some of the commands. Made everything much easier! If I was playing. say WoW, some punk 12-year old kid would have said something like, 'lolumad' or some BS like 'LTP n00b'. Everyone on XI shows far more maturity and respect and high-level/elite player status isn't just handed to you. Rather, it's earned as opposed to WoW which basically hands you the levels and all of the ego that goes with it. It's kinda babying those guys up. That's why in that game, there's such thing as crappy high level players. In XI, I have yet to see any bad High-level/Elite players.

ANYWAY. Enough of my rant! I'm annoying more than a few people.

My goal for Febuary is to gain 75 White Mage. I have slightly under 10 levels to do. My goal is half a level to one level a day! When I log on, I'll keep this in mind! I'll only work on White Mage from now 'til Febuary. I notice in this game that people get sidetracked in working on other jobs, but I'll do my best to exclusively focus on White Mage. After that, I'll be all tanking... Paladin-style!

So, ah, if there's anyone on Gilgamesh who feels like partying, or forming a static group (I've never done one T_T) I'd be more than willing! All for the sake of the goal!

Warming back in [Jan. 12th, 2009|05:06 am]

divinesoldier
Uh, hey! This is my very first community that I've joined.

I'm getting back into XI after about a 2 month hiatus due to real life. There are a couple of new (okay, a LOT) things added since I've taken the hiatus and it's going to take a little bit of effort to warm back in.

If anyone's willing to level up or anything, I'm on the Gilgamesh Server as Velandio. All that you need to know is that I have a few jobs leveled. Though, White Mage is my main class, at the moment. It's at level 65 with a Black Mage level 38.

Like I said, I'd love to play with whoever would like to level up. I'm willing to help people out if they need it.

Uh, laters!

FFXI: Tidal Talisman [Jan. 1st, 2009|06:43 pm]

Tidal Talisman

At the end of November my Tidal Talisman arrived.
It looks quite nice and I like it. The only downside is that the
"chain" has actually no closing piece like a hook or a grabber.
The in-game item looks damn cool and has a flashing shiny point
that will flash every two seconds.

FFXI: Level Sync is the devil [Jan. 1st, 2009|06:30 pm]

Level Sync is the devil

The Level Sync feature is without a doubt one of the best features in FFXI.
It eases the creation and search for parties a lot and is often also
killing the purpose for muling lower level gear because you can just stick to
some sets you got at the Armor Storage NPC.

If I might ask a question of the community.... [Dec. 1st, 2008|12:38 am]

creepyfnord
I played 11 for a very long time, but I dropped out during an overdose of hardcore overgaming. I've been out of it since just after PUP/COR/BST came out. I know about the new jobs and such, but what I was wondering is...

If I came back to the game today would the community aspects be much different? Are Gil Sellers a bigger problem, is there and overcrowding or undercrowding issue, those sorts of things, do you think the game has gotten better or worse in that time. I'm thinking of returning, btu would have to start over, i deleted my old character so would return as a noob, would it suck?

Back on the game [Nov. 26th, 2008|09:03 am]

silverearthwind
I started playing again last weekend and I realized almost everyone I knew really isn't playing anymore. I thought about a server switch, but I share an account with my roomate so that isn't really possible. so......anyone on the Alexander server bored and looking for someone to hang out with? I don't do any end game stuff, dynamis or anything like that. I really only play on the weekends and just am not high enough level (and really don't have a whole lot of interest) for that stuff. I'm just really looking for people to bs with or do campaign and besiged or random quests with. I just like having fun on the game and don't take anything to seriously. I get tired of people who treet this game like a job, and/or lecture me cause I don't have the perfect gear and tons of money, lol. Anyway, anybody feel like chatting or just hanging out in the game look me up =) I'm Shaiya, hume female lvl 65 war/sam.

Hello [Nov. 24th, 2008|12:19 am]

son_of_dougal
Hello everyone, I just joined this community. I used to play FFXI about 5 years ago prior to joining the military, due to that I had given up all gaming to further my career. I played (sadly) World of Warcraft for awhile, and relizing that it was not something for me I came back to my old friend. Currently a 18mnk/9war on the fairy server. Another of my buddies here plays on that server, so he convinced me to join there.
Enjoying my time playing immensely. Also wondering if there is anyone else on this server?

Thank you for having me here and keep on having fun guys!

Greetings! [Nov. 20th, 2008|11:09 am]

silverearthwind
Hi there, I just joined the community. Just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself.

I play on the Alexander server and have been playing for about 4 yrs now. I don't get to play as often as I'd like since I work a full-time graveyard job so I'm still only lvl 65. =(  I'm a hume/female and my main job is war/sam.

I recently took a break for about a month because I've been working crazy overtime, but I should be back on the game within the week.

Anyhow, I look forward to chatting with you all and swaping info and such.

A little trivia [Nov. 8th, 2008|07:35 pm]

xvolph
Those of you who finished the last batch of San d'Orian Wings missions - I'm curious about something. How many of you understood the Marshmallow reference in Garlaige?

I know a few people who did these missions and were like "Huh? What do fluffy white confections have to do with an important mission in the middle of a war?"

Well, in truth, they weren't at all referring to the confection, but the plant and some of its medicinal properties!

Y'ello [Oct. 28th, 2008|09:28 am]

myranda_ffxi
I'm posting here to see if anybody is interested in some level synch statics I am currently trying to run. There are two parties I currently need filled, and they run on the Carbuncle Server.

Anyway. Before I say anymore, I'll discuss our rules. Best to get those out in the open first.

1. Xp/hr is not our main goal. We will strive to get the most XP out of our sessions, of course, but we're not going to whine and moan if we can't get that Chain+20. We'd expect the same from the new members, as well. The idea for the statics is to get on, get going, and not have to worry about the typical pick-up party stresses.

2. We're fine with most job combinations, but be reasonable. >.> Don't show up as a WHM/DRG with the goal to jump things while curing others.

3. We'll synch pretty much to whatever level; which means you'll need to do the same if you're higher than us. You're free to bring whatever job you want, too, of course. So if you want to level your MNK while the rest catch up to your SAM, that's fine, too.

4. Open minds, prz. Check your 'end-game mentality' at the door, do not talk another person down because they don't have ubar gear, 'the right sub', didn't macro swap gear to get that extra 5hp damage, forgot to bring their cookies or whatever, etc.

5. We're fine with swearing. Most of us are pretty dirty at times, anyway. But we will not tolerate racial slurs, sexuality-bashing (this includes using 'gay' in place of 'stupid'.), sexist attitudes of any type.

6. You don't have to become a member of our LS if you don't want to. You're welcome to join, of course, but it's not mandatory.

That's pretty much it. We're easy-going.

Tuesdays:
Starting time is after 6:30pm CST. Currently, this is still in the planning process so just about any job is welcomed. We're probably ok in terms of a main healer.. but we'd probably need a tank. We'd also would be starting down in the Dunes. There are three open spots in this static that need filling. I'll be using my alt, Hodgepodge, in this static. Just FYI.

Thursdays:
Two spots open on this team. This one meets up at 5PM CST and has the chance to run up to five hours long, depending on how everyone feels. Usually, though, we just sorta stop when someone gets tired/bored/hungry/whatever. We run, at the very least, for two hours. We have two very awesome SCHs who, as far as I can tell, are experts at MP Conservation, and we rock pretty much whatever camp we get to. Excellent XP is all but guaranteed. Our problem? We're slowly running out of a tank. I've been the main meat shield as my WAR/MNK, and now that we're inching closer and closer to 40, I'm becoming more and more of a MP-sponge. That, and I really want to just be a WAR/THF or WAR/SAM and just hurt things. >.> ANYWAY. Tank is needed, prz. Another DD or a support would be useful, too. We're currently somewhere in the 30's.. I forget. Maybe 32ish? We're at the first Citadel range, but we usually head to Altepa instead because that place sucks. I'm Myranda, in that static.

So if you're interested, contact me somehow and we'll discuss it further. You can leave a message in this post, yell at me on my eljay, or shoot me a /tell in-game. Again, my characters are Hodgepodge and Myranda.

cross posted.
