| Crit Rate: Cracked? |
[Oct. 8th, 2009|01:03 am] |
There's some new research on crit rate. The idea below, after some time, seems unlikely to be the case. But there's a lot of information going on in this thread for anyone interested. Not going to claim it's necessarily so yet. However, as the result of pondering a necro-bumped thread on BG, I stumbled across some very aesthetically pleasing numbers that appear to match the best crit testing data we have available. It was only after I'd started to play with some ideas that I realized how well it fit.
Crit Rate = 5% / (2 - dex/agi) The appeal of this is how simple it is, and how well it actually fits our data. Not only does it account with the crit cap from Searain's data, but it also reflects the non-linear ponderings (2) that many others had. Here's how it looks from paper to formula to spreadsheet to graph:

| Lu Shang Progress |
[Sep. 3rd, 2009|04:28 am] |
Leveled 2 of my mules up to 20, so that I could fish more than the cap of 200 on my main. Up to around 6600 carp now for the Lu Shang Rod.
BTW anyone notice what it is they did to the Ebisu rod in the last update? |

| RP Linkshells |
[Jul. 20th, 2009|09:34 am] |
Crossposted to
Keir here, from Leviathan, Lost Boys leader.
Just a quick question. I'm currently gathering up a list of RP linkshells across servers. Two reasons really. One, for my own linkshell to be able to read others' stories and enjoy them. Two, to possibly see what kind of community we have out there and who might be interested in a move (or addition) to FFXIV.
If you know of any, please drop me a line and, if possible, a link. That would be awesome. Thanks! |

Quick question about Vandadiel Collection 2008: Does it come with the Vista version of POL, or do I still need to download that separately? Thanks. |

| | happy | ] | I'm having trouble putting in my new credit card number. It keeps telling me that my address info is wrong. When I got through to support, he told me something new.
He said that I can only enter in new credit card info once every half hour. And not just one card #, any card #. Only once every 30 minutes, the rest of the time it won't let you.
O.o ? |

| FFXI 64-bit? |
[Mar. 28th, 2009|12:12 am] |
I'm shopping for a laptop, and I am really thinking that I'd like to go 64-bit. Does anyone have any experiences with FFXI on Vista 64-bit? I've seen some comments around the web that people have no trouble, and then I've heard from a couple people that FFXI runs terribly on their 64-bit and they wish they had 32.
If it helps, I'm planning on going for an Nvidia GPU (most likely 512mb ddr3 9600M GT), 4gb ram, Core2 Duo P8600 (~2.4 Ghz).
Thanks, all! |

| Warmed back in and... an overall goal! |
[Jan. 14th, 2009|05:18 am] |
Yesterday, I basically went from 0 to halfway to 66. I plan to get 66 un-aided in any way.
As of writing this, I'm logged onto XI (laptop FTW!) and am still actively seeking out a party. Yesterday I've had some fabulous luck in finding a party I've stuck with for around 4 hours, and I intend to find another party that can do that for me.
The members were rather kind when I explained to them that I might be a bit rusty. After about 25 minutes of partying, I got the hang of it again! Makes me feel great. That, and playing a healer in almost any MMO is like a very nerve-racking round of whack-a-mole. XI is no different.
Now I really remember why I liked XI: Because a lot of the people are so nice! Like, I forgot my macros, and someone from an old LS of mine just gave me some of the commands. Made everything much easier! If I was playing. say WoW, some punk 12-year old kid would have said something like, 'lolumad' or some BS like 'LTP n00b'. Everyone on XI shows far more maturity and respect and high-level/elite player status isn't just handed to you. Rather, it's earned as opposed to WoW which basically hands you the levels and all of the ego that goes with it. It's kinda babying those guys up. That's why in that game, there's such thing as crappy high level players. In XI, I have yet to see any bad High-level/Elite players.
ANYWAY. Enough of my rant! I'm annoying more than a few people.
My goal for Febuary is to gain 75 White Mage. I have slightly under 10 levels to do. My goal is half a level to one level a day! When I log on, I'll keep this in mind! I'll only work on White Mage from now 'til Febuary. I notice in this game that people get sidetracked in working on other jobs, but I'll do my best to exclusively focus on White Mage. After that, I'll be all tanking... Paladin-style!
So, ah, if there's anyone on Gilgamesh who feels like partying, or forming a static group (I've never done one T_T) I'd be more than willing! All for the sake of the goal!

| Warming back in |
[Jan. 12th, 2009|05:06 am] |
Uh, hey! This is my very first community that I've joined.
I'm getting back into XI after about a 2 month hiatus due to real life. There are a couple of new (okay, a LOT) things added since I've taken the hiatus and it's going to take a little bit of effort to warm back in.
If anyone's willing to level up or anything, I'm on the Gilgamesh Server as Velandio. All that you need to know is that I have a few jobs leveled. Though, White Mage is my main class, at the moment. It's at level 65 with a Black Mage level 38.
Like I said, I'd love to play with whoever would like to level up. I'm willing to help people out if they need it.
Uh, laters!

| FFXI: Tidal Talisman |
[Jan. 1st, 2009|06:43 pm] |
Tidal Talisman
At the end of November my Tidal Talisman arrived. It looks quite nice and I like it. The only downside is that the "chain" has actually no closing piece like a hook or a grabber. The in-game item looks damn cool and has a flashing shiny point that will flash every two seconds.

| FFXI: Level Sync is the devil |
[Jan. 1st, 2009|06:30 pm] |
Level Sync is the devil
The Level Sync feature is without a doubt one of the best features in FFXI. It eases the creation and search for parties a lot and is often also killing the purpose for muling lower level gear because you can just stick to some sets you got at the Armor Storage NPC.
