Fallout 3, journal Discovered while searching the wastes [Nov. 13th, 2008|11:22 pm]

Hello and welcome to my wonderful journal!

My name is Hatch and I'm currently writing this from my house in Megaton. You may know where Megaton is, depending on where you're reading this. When I suppose too. But yeah, my name is Hatch, I'm 19 (Almost 20) years old and I'm looking for my dad in the Captial Wasteland. That is the wastes of D.C.

So, I found this empty journal and a few pens and pencils in Grayditch when it wasn't being burnt to the ground by fucking fire ants. Fire ants that breathe fire. I hate ants so damned much in case it wasn't clear. ANYWAYS, I'm the one that saved Grayditch from being totally ruined. I'm not a great writer, but I hope you'll be entertained and this may fill in a few gaps in history.

I... left my vault, 101, not on the best terms. In my defense the vault guards were shooting first and not asking questions. So I had to beat them with my lucky bat, they'll feel like crap when they wake up but then again they'll think twice before being a bunch of jackasses. After heading out of the Vault, I wandered the wastes for an hour or two. It was a real hoot.

After getting tired of dealing with the sun and being hot I decided to pop into Springvale Elementary. Now that was the best day ever. By which I mean Raiders are jerks with guns. Who gave them guns?! Nobody told me they had guns! I was so sad. And by sad I mean I had bullets lodged in my flesh. To be fair I paid them back twofold with Ol' Lucky. They weren't going to get up from that, so I took what they had and realized I had too much! So I dumped what I didn't need and went outside to search for a town. Or people who wouldn't shoot at me on sight. Or my dad. I'm not really picky at the moment!

Wow, this writing stuff takes it out of you. I'll pick back up from where I save Megaton from exploding violently. Later future readers!

HEY LOOKEE HERE.

Since we never finished Final Fantasy 5, I'm just going to go ahead and open this to any games you want to play and write about. If you want to organize a game just make a post.

Pretty basic stuff, comment if you have a question.

It is an unwritten law of the universe, that, no matter how many times you have played a Final Fantasy game, you will always end up making the same mistakes each time you play.

FFV: X_x [Mar. 1st, 2008|03:20 pm]

I shoulda written this sooner, cause now I don't even remember a lot of this.

First of all, during my wandering to level up and explore before, I realized I never went to Castle Tycoon Stefani. I apparently should have visited here after leaving the very first meteor site. Upon doing so, everyone started squealing about the princess returning, and how they were glad to have her back. But then she laid the smackdown on them and said she aint coming back. She's got a pappy to find and adventures to seek. They switch their ass-kissery to support her decision wholeheartedly, and we move along before we make them look even more uncomfortable.

Here in the castle we learn that Gwen had a sister. And this sister was lost at sea. I mean, considering Gwen has a pendant, of which Captain Trap has an identical one.. and that she was raised by pirates.. na, there can't be any possible connection here.

Now to where we left off. )

Butz gets his dreams crushed [Feb. 27th, 2008|12:09 pm]

He's tried all the Job Classes, but all he really wants to be is a shopkeeper. The owner, however, thinks Butz would be better off as a Bard.

Here's a tip, don't play the entire game to the end and then go back expecting you can write funny commentary for the whole game.

Now that everything's exploded, Cid is down on himself, and it's up to the High School Musical gang to cheer him up. But we can't sing, so we head West past the Great Wall of China, that is now rubble, and into the desert.

FFV part deux [Feb. 25th, 2008|08:54 pm]

buzdar
When last we met, Faris' buddy died after I beat the water temple I mean tower. We walk back from the nearby town to look at the significantly smaller peninsula now, and check out the meteor that landed. For some reason, it's open, so we walk inside to see a weird tile in the center. Well, you're compelled to step on it like all things in video games, and suddenly wake up in a similar looking meteor on another side of the world! We walk from this meteor to the nearby town, with lots of fire everywhere. Turns out this is the home of our next crystal, and this is where I'll start writing and stop doing a backstory of sorts.

I immediately walk into the nearby stoor to buy some new weapons, ignoring the obvious pillars of fire everywhere, only to be arrested on charges of being furries. Once we're in jail, some old fart blows a hole in the wall attempting to break out in a fashion that reminded me of the Count of Monte Cristo, where the protagonist meets some old fart in the cell next to him in an attempt to escape. Well, in our case, the old fart is named CID. That leaves the generic moogle to be found on my checklist of FF signature characters. Well, Cid claims that he was arrested for trying to turn off the machine that augments the power of the Fire Crystal, because someone recognized that the machiens are BREAKING them. We are retrieved by one of the Fire Queen's attendants, who tells us the crystal is beginning to crack and is overloading, with lots more fire pillars blocking stuff off. We run out of the castle, and run all the way to the Fire Nation's steamship, which is apparently still overloading the crystal despite the fact that the machine was turned off. We work our way down through yet another dungeon, and see a possessed queen, who sics a gigantic fire monster on us. I went ahead and took the liberty of grabbing Shiva at this point, as I've been told the fight is 10 times easier when you can summon an ice goddess. Which it was. A few tries later, after much cursing and anger, I finally got the gigantic monster, and blew up the engine. I watched the fire crystal shatter, cried angry tears as I realized I wouldn't be getting any new classes yet, and hauled ass out of the castle grabbing loot along the way. The castle went boom, blowing up the wall that was sealing off the next part of the game, and the day was saved. Sort of. Either way, the crystal shards flew out of the castle to land conveniently near us, where we collect a few new Jorbs.

NEXT TIME ON FINAL FANTASY Z:
I fight way too many Unknown_Chimeras, and meet Cid's grandson in a library while also gathering a new Summon!

Final Fantasy V - JESU FINALLY [Feb. 25th, 2008|05:30 pm]

I haven't posted lately because I haven't actually played the last couple days. When I did play last, I leveled up some and bought some spells. Then last night went back to try besting Azula's fire beast again.

Final Fantasy 5 - On the Road Again [Feb. 24th, 2008|04:28 am]

dlhx
Having finished up my errands, and gotten all the random monsters I could into my hot little bestiary (Including a monster called Black Flame, with the magic Dark Shock. That blue Magic reduces a foes level by half, weakening them quite a bit and, more importantly, setting them up for Level X Magic spells). We were pretty chillaxed when we went towards the town, stopping by only for plot advancement purposes. What was the plot again? Shit...I forgot. We needed to find the Earth Crystal or something? I guess?

Well, whatever it was, GOOD LUCK. )

Final Fantasy 5 - Side Quest Edition (Now with 50% Less Plot!) [Feb. 24th, 2008|03:26 am]

dlhx
I took a small break once I got a hold of the Fire Ship, and used the break to power myself up. Incidentally, it's kind of pointless at this stage, since I rarely use Time Magic, already had Steal, and won't be going berserk or equipping axes, but hey! Not gonna let logic get in the way of my fun. Anyway, I've had these pictures for two days and they've been resting with instructions in a text file which I decided not to save and has been open on my front desk the whole time. If only I had some kind of "notes.txt", that came with an IRC program or something.

But enough talk! Have at you! )

BONUS ENTRY - Final Fantasy 5 - The Class System [Feb. 21st, 2008|07:11 am]

dlhx
Well, I said a while ago that I would explain the Job system, and now that I've mastered a few classes and done some stuff, this seems like as good a time as any to do so. It's a bit hard to get at first, so I'm going to try to explain it simply and with pictures. The first part is mainly text and likely shit you already know if you've been playing the game. I just put it there just in case, so scroll down to the dotted line for the other information.

WALL OF FUCKING TEXT INSIDE, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN )

Final Fantasy 5 - i think cid is a pretty cool guy. eh builds ship and doesn't afraid of anything [Feb. 21st, 2008|03:31 am]

dlhx
When we last left our heroes, we had gotten three good classes, and I was busy leveling up with them, as well as gathering the rather elusive Blue Magic spells. First things first, we had to worry about Level 5 Death, a good blue magic skill that kills everyone that is a multiple of five, cast by Page 64 in the Ancient Library. Since my team is more or less the same level, I had to do some trickery to get the spell, switch all my characters to adventurer to prevent extra AP gain, and then kill them off one by one so they could get back to the same XP range after learning the spell. Excessive? Maybe.

With that out of the way, my team went back to the Fire Ship to use the Beastmaster skill Control on a foe called Motor Trap, to get him to cast the Blue Magic Missile. This spell reduces a foe's health by 3/4ths, making it a very nice Gravity spell. Afterwards, I went out in the desert to fight a rather tough foe called the Dhroma Chimera. This baby is much stronger than your current party, but it knows the essential Blue Magic spell Aqua Breath, so we got that. After that, we had leveled up enough to be safe, so we went back to the library to fight the monster Page 256, using Control to learn the spell Guardoff.

Whew, that was a lot. Now that I just explained all the Blue Magic I got, let's head into the actual dungeon. )

Final Fantasy 5 - 7200 Damage in a Single Blow (Achivement Unlocked) [Feb. 21st, 2008|01:24 am]

dlhx
Now that I'm a bit more refreshed, I think I'll carry out the next entry. We were last told by that strange old man Cid that we needed to get our asses to the Fire Ship. Since there wasn't much else to do around the world (I went back to the Ship Graveyard and learned Transfusion by confusing a slug-like creature, but that's a pointless side-track), and I realized I need to stay under level 20 (You'll see) until the next dungeon, I figured I should stop screwing around and just do it.

With that said, let's head onto the Fire Ship )

Let's get Started! [Feb. 20th, 2008|06:48 pm]

buzdar
Well, I probably spent WAAAAY too much time playing FF5 and not enough time reviewing it. As a matter of fact, I'm already almost level 20, and through quite a few boss fights already. I told myself I'd regret doing that, but I'll try writing up something anyways.

Our story begins with an introduction to a young boy, who is for some reason named BUTZ. I snickered for hours and hours on end at this. Pretty soon afterwords, we get to watch a meteor crash into the earth, waking up our young hero and leaving him curious. He goes to check it out, and finds the young LENNA and some old fart named GALUF who can't remember anything beyond his name. They soon band together like some buddy roadtrip movie, and go off on their adventures. Soon after, we find a cave that was opened up by the meteor impact, with a healing spring and some more tunnels in it. Following them, we encounter pirates. That's right, pirates. The pirates apparently have some way of sailing without the wind, which recently stopped. We'll cover that later though.
You sneak onto the ship, only to be captured by the captain of the ship, who locks you up with the intention of sending a ransom note to the local kingdom, since it turns out Lenna's a princess. Well, the captain sees Lenna's necklace, which for some reason is identical to his, and lets you go, even offering to sail you wherever you need to go. From here, we sail to the Wind Shrine, where Lenna's father apparently went. You fight some baddies, see the Wind Crystal break, and earn your first Jobs. It's all very fun.

Soon after, we leave our pirate crew behind in a nearby town, venturing through a canal to fight a gigantic kraken. Our ship's sea-monster is dragged down by the kraken, and we lose all hope of moving the ship. Our heroes drift off into the sunset, only to wake up in the Ship Graveyard. Here we learn that the captain, FARIS, is actually a girl! Who would have guessed! I certainly didn't, because unlike the GBA version, the SNES version has no portraits to give it away. We fight our way out of the graveyard, to find the King's dragon, who gives the gang a lift to the next crystal. Stuff happens, people get angry, and one dungeon later the water crystal explodes, giving us another set of Jobs to play with. We get saved by Faris' buddy the sea monster, who then dies after spitting us up on the beach somewhere.
------

Okay, so at this point, I was having quite a bit of fun. The gameplay has turned out to work quite well, and the music is just as good as I'd expect from a Final Fantasy game. Graphically, it's nothing special, but graphics aren't always everything, are they? The plot was and is still a little thin at this point, and remains so even up to where I am currently. Friends who've beaten the game tell me it gets better as it goes on, and I hope they're right. That's all for today, see you next time!

Final Fantasy 5 - They're On Fire [Feb. 20th, 2008|02:42 am]

dlhx
When I got through with whatever it was I did last, I think breaking another crystal, I was doing pretty well with the Mage classes. White Mage was covered, Black Mage was covered, Blue Mage is always covered, but I haven't gotten into the major asskicking aspects. With that said, I figured my team needed an overhaul. I love Blue Mages, but they'll be plenty of time for Zorro shit. What I need right now is a major does of Vitamin M!

What is Vitamin M, you ask? )
