hello! this is my first time posting here, but i've already gone through five rolls of film, so there're a lot of photos behind the cut. :/ all of them are taken with a vivitar uws, but the film i used ranges from Fujifilm Superia 400 to Kodak Ultramax 400 to DNP Centuria 200.

apologies for the blurry/low-res images because i do my own scanning, heh (i am a poor student/starving artist- ok not really/et cetera). saves money, wastes time, but i'm not complaining. hope you guys don't mind!

comments are very much appreciated.

DNP Centuria 200

redeemable for a limited time only (while stocks last)
endlessly sorry if that offends anyone- i couldn't resist.

I like all of them but do you take every picture at an obligue angle haha?

heh yes indeed it does seem so. the train and other landscape pictures seem to be the ones i take at the straightest angles. i think it's just 'cause i tend to want to capture more inside the frame, and diagonal angles help me do that.

sorry if it gave you a headache or anything >

unfortunately so. ): sad isn't it?

can you see the flower at its mouth? it's almost as if someone was trying to make it especially macabre. especially with the dried blood and all.

i stood there and deliberated whether i should take the picture or not. it seemed almost offensive, to capture life in that sort of portrayal.

bleh.

why thank you. flight is up on my noticeboard, it's one of my favourites. if you look at your screen in a certain angle the aqua blue clouds make a heart shape. :D

roadkill is very macabre. see the above comments. :/

mushrooms! :D one of the lit teachers' favourites when they want classes to handle plath. it's one of her best known poems, and it centres on a theme of feminism. for the full poem, go here: http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/mushrooms/

ooh have never read that poem before - but it's interesting.
i did 'ariel' by sp in jc hahah we all call her psycho D:
but my teacher says that shes not exactly a feminist and doesn't quite talk much about feminism (i reckon he doesn't want us to generalise) but instead it's more of creating an alternate reality where women are the more powerful species :)
just a thought!
psst; oops wrong username haha

And no need to apologize for scanning at home.. I find that home-scanning is the ONLY way to fly :) I find the difference in quality is so huge I no longer trust any lab to do my scanning even though I don't have enough time to do it.. so I just let the backlog pile up :/

i like that shot too!

it was very coincidental, i dragged my friend up to take photos of the railway and it just happened that a train passed by a few minutes after we reached the tracks.

then we kinda got chased out of there, it's the railway next to king albert park. apparently it's government land. malaysia government land, seeing as it's the Malayan Railway. we got chased off like, thrice. heh. the third time the guy seemed really mad so we left for real. he claimed there was a sign, but we honestly didn't see it.

oh and i thought that home scanning would be lower quality than lab scanning? i don't know, my HP scanner tells me to correct the resolution every time i set it higher than the default and it makes me feel very guilty.

Ha ha :) I get like that too! I keep using my films so fast as if they dont need money to buy or money to develop. I like the first, third, mushroom and barren :) :)

I see the heart! And your sister is cute hehe

i suddenly became $20 poorer one day after going to the lab to develop cause i collected a roll of film, bought centuria 200, and sent another for developing.

money eating thing.

my sister is quite annoying sometimes. i'm not sure if she's cute enough to make up for the annoyance. heh.

The Roadkill and the Redeemable For A Limited Time Only really appeals to me.I love pictures that combine really normal things and a slice of hunour together.Well i suppose the only humour you can use for most photo shots is sarcasm.I love doing that.I think you need to do a couple of close-up shots.Like focus on something.I used to do that on MWOS.I took a picture of a Macdonald's ice cream cone like really up close till the point where the picture showed a portion of the cone.Don't worry if you can't understand what the hell i am talking about.ARGGH!!I suggest just experimenting with camera esp digital ones when you have the chance. You can go to like sony galleries and try them out.I think Paragon had like a booth where you could take picture of a flower vase using a Nikon??Not sure if its still there.Gosh i sooo want a Nikon D60!!

haha hi dhinesh. and uh i didn't know i did that! but lj is rather useful.

and anyway, you're talking about the dof is it? and uhh bokeh? i think. but yeah la, i'm not very familiar with slrs.. not enough cash to get one hence the noob vivitar.

and @ roadkill, uh, how is it humourous, exactly? it's really a dead cat.

Err.i am not really good with photography lingo.I actually suck at it.I kept failing like Theory Classes last year.I actually had to study for photography. The teacher was like "focus Dhinesh!! FOCUS!!" Gosh and he had like those glasses which might have been like those 50-300mm lenses.I can never forget his face.Errm i will take a look in my mac and see if i still have the picture.I don't think i do.Its like sec 2 when i took it.I checked Paragon for you today while window shopping. The camera booth is still there.Go check it out.get exposed to DSLRs!! But its kinda unique that you are using a normal camera and somehow getting effects that usually i have to photoshop to get it.

I was like telling about the Reedeemable.Only a sadist can say Roadkill is funny.I took a picture of a dead hummingbird in a bus like a couple of weeks ago.I don't really like creating random accounts just to have a platform to expose your photography skills.I think facebook is fine enough.Though only 3 friends, including you, appreciate my stupid photographs. If you are interested in a photography job,let me know.My aunt's advertising company is always on the lookout for Amateur Photographers. They provide a DSLR(a decent one like mine.Maybe a D300 if you are like uber lucky) and the rate is like 90 bucks a photoshoot.Lessons provided.Lemme know if you are.
