just saw this movie, couldn't even finish watching it because i felt so queasy. i wonder what inspired this film to exist...anything to do with japanese history/film movements?

hmm..good question...not sure. some say it's about guilt[him and his gf hitting the guy[metal fetish] with thier car then not doing anything about it exept have sex right in front of him-lol]..but with a surrealist film it's had to say what inspired it..i'd be curious tho to know.

i think it may have a statement about technology in the film. of course it is up to the viewer how to interpret the movie, but i really feel like "man becoming technology" or "man losing his sense of nature" is the underlying theme, which makes sense considering japan's rapid growth and development after the war.
