One of my favourite movies. Breathtaking. Almost a terror movie. It blowed my mind for an entire week. Full of atemporal images. And atemporal words.

i'm just about to watch through the glass darkly!

i see a leica! i really wanna get into more bergman so if you tell me this is a good one, i'll be sure to check it out. you can check out my journal to see which movies i've been watching if you wanna recommend more.

also, to capture scenes of the film, are you just doing screenshots on your computer or are you finding these online? thanks!

Through a Glass Darkly is amazing, one of my favorites from Bergman.
Persona is definitely one of the best works from him, so it's worth seeing in. I would recommend watching every Bergman film one can get their hands on, it's very interesting to see his approach to stories. Wild Strawberies (1957), Fanny och Alexander(1982), Ansiktet (1958), Det sjunde inseglet (1957), Viskningar och rop (1972). It's very dangerous to ask me to recommend film, or I will turn up with a list to keep you occupied for a century.

I capture them myself.

awesome--i know i should see wild strawberries. so far, i've been going by the criterion collection cuz it's just an easy way to see a lot of great films, but of course i can look outside of it ;)

how are you capturing them? i'm on an apple powerbook and i tried doing screenshots while the movie was running in idvd and it wouldn't let me. are you on a mac or pc? thanks! :)

Criterion is a great source to start with but they're so new and have not yet captured all of the greats.

I use PowerDVD, which is, in my opinion, the greatest program for running DVDs and capturing them.

yeah i love criterion. it may be new, but it still has a lot of beautiful dvd transfers. check out l'avventura if you haven't--the quality is absolutely STUNNING.

thanks :)

Yes, I remember your lovely post.
I've been meaning to cap this film for some time, since it's too beautiful and too late stills of it are available online, I'm just glad I got around doing it.
