i always like that the parents are supposed to be a pretty obscure archetype of wealthy, 80s art snobs and they have such a weird house full neo-primitive-neo-expressionist whatever art

also baldwin is a beauty in this

I agree. I love how burton usually portrays the kids as the honest ones, and the adults are all full of ess and are to be laughed at. I also love how Burton loves the "different" kids.

Yeah.... I hadn't watched the film in a long time.... the colors just pop out. He really played the dark/light contrast quite well. It's actually funnier than I remembered, too!

Well, thank you for the kind words.

Yeah, the only recent film I've seen of his is Sweeney Todd. It was okay (which is far worse than the other ones I've seen of his). I've been avoiding the others because they look kinda not good (like the chocolate factory remake). I do still wonder if Corpse Bride is worth watching, though.

Yeah, me too. I was glad to see him get it, though. Heh heh.

Overall, yeah. It's my clear favorite of his. I really like Mars Attacks! and Edward Scissorhands (and TNBC) too, though. I'm still pissed over Winona's blonde hair!!!!! Alllmost completely ruins it for me every time I watch it.

I just found out recently that the actor who played the father in this movie (and the principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off) is a registered sex offender because he paid a 14 year old boy to pose nude for him.

ohshitohshit i watched this last night. :)

this is one of my favorite movies of all time, no joke. i loove the scene where they possess the dinner party. so classic.

despite all of the other ridiculously cool parts about this movie, the one thing i have always loved most about it is how sickeningly in love those two are, especially in the first ten minutes. i would always think, and still do, every time i see it, "i want that some day."
