The reality is, this is my reality.
I feel like there is an absence of honor in me. I feel as if something is hounding me from above. I feel like I am running away from something of which I have no idea what it is. Perhaps I am running in pursue of something. But the nature of my problems lies in the lack of purpose. I suppose if I found purpose then I would stop questioning my life, its direction, its focus, its everything.
But ultimately, life is meant to fail. Having seen that, I exercise my right to futility.

I don't know why I thought I would be able to go to sleep last night sans sleeping pill, but I did and had a terrible time of this whole sleeping thing. I regret it! Tonight I won't be making that mistake again. At some point in the morning I dreamed that I was awfully sick, and couldn't make it to my wedding because I couldn't breathe.
*sigh* So much to do today. I am not sure there are enough hours in the day between now and tomorrow afternoon, but we'll see.

Whhhhhhhy??? Yesterday it was totally fine! ~___~

I feel like it's been a while since I last made a real update. I have been updating my lj but the posts have been locked to private. I dunno, I just want to record what's going on my life but don't want to bore people. Lately though I've had no less then 5 million things on my mind so it feels more difficult to make posts that will either make sense, or be interesting.
Dragon*con was nice, I had fun. Didn't get into enough debauchery though! The tea party was great, it's always fun to meet and talk to all the other lolitas and catch up on stuff. And act silly and immature *lol* I did finish my outfit for that event but I didn't take a picture of it!! =(
I didn't get much stuff, I usually don't buy stuff at cons, though I did get a pair of earrings to go with my wedding ensemble~ And naiteiru made me the cutest giraffe ever! I love Gary! Thank you thank you thank you!
I didn't do any costumes this year, just went as myself (in lolita). I've already got ideas for next year though so maybe I'll start early XD I have to wait for Halloween to pass so I can get a particular wig on clearance... Hehe.
I got to see a lot of friends but didn't do enough hanging out with many of them. and_be_blue and triplephoenix!!! OMG I'm so so so sorry I didn't call =( I did get your number but didn't know who it belonged to (I only got the name 'blue' with it, and well, I know quite a few people named blue!). Let us hang out for sure next year, ok? Same goes for everyone else!
We had a great hotel room at the Marriott, A+++!!! We took over a reservation nekodan's group had gotten, and ended up with a corner room king .___. Sweet!
It was a nice weekend, a good break from worrying over wedding stuff.
Ahhh, wedding stuff. I think we're pretty much done, just a few things left to finalize and work out... mwah, I don't want to think about it! I think I'll go to sleep instead <3

| Google Chrome. |
[03 Sep 2008|11:27pm] |
So I just downloaded Google's new webrowser, Google Chrome, and have been using it for a little bit.
It's fast. Really fast. Don't know how they do it, but it's nice.
I'm ready to switch in a heart beat. Except, I miss my flash and ad-blocking plug-ins that Firefox had. It's weird to go to all of these places and see these ads that I'm not used to.
But it's fast.
I have faith in you google. Give me a way to block these crazy ads and I'm yours forever. Oh, and g-mail integration would be nice too. Since, you know, it is your product.
I'll be waiting.
Love, love, love, - Rachel

So, I did something I haven't done for a few months - I watched TV! Specifically, I caught the premiere episode of the new 90210 on CW.
I wanted to like the show. I really did. I loved the original 90210. It was so cheesy, yet so addicting.
But this new 90210 was just so... cliche. The acting, story and dialogue were just bad. This reminded me of the scripts I wrote in 2nd grade (inspired by 90210, of course). The only redeeming thing about it was that there were some clever (albeit brief) original 90210 references.
There were supposed to be two episodes, but I could only watch one. It was just that bad. I don't care about any of these characters at all.
Maybe I'm just too cool for TV. As I've been spending time with older folks, I've felt more out of touch with my generation. I still subscribe to the original theory that I was supposed to have been born in 1975. I would have loved the 80's. That would have been so sweet.

The final weekend of summer was fucking bizarre and also pretty spectacular. We do make for some entertaining messes. Collective epic fails.
So now that we've been forcibly ejected from the summer, what next? Me: hours of public policy analysis, first year science, and teaching homeless people how to use internets. Plus some pretty great plans for pretty great hangs with pretty great people. ...& "up-words"?? apparently the most amazing scrabble offshoot of all time. And god damn it, finally some U-Brew wine and/or beer. Good times ahead. Lots of good shows ahead including victoria and the fringe festival. And more time spent with amazing people.
I'm pretty happy but also pretty positive that some inevitable bad news is in the mail. womp womp.
Also: Fuck Man, where are you, upass & student loan?!
Off to school!
Oh and also: i just finally checked my grades from last semester, something I was totally dreading and managed to forget to do until right now. Not so great in that history class, which i was expecting. But a fucking score on the other two classes. How the hell did that happen? Stoked!

For Halloween this year (and last year and the year before), I
wanted to be Nurse Ratchet and have whoever I am dating at the time
dress as McMurphy and then we'd make out in public. I've never done
it, because I don't think anyone would even know who I was trying
to be, even if I did my hair to Louise Fletcher's perfection, I
think I'd get more "are you like, a nurse, from the 50's?" than
anything. Shucks.

I've been promising to take Ethan to a Boise Hawks baseball game all summer. Unfortunately, time really got away from us, what with Corinne and the changes we're making with Gretchen not working. By the time I got around to checking, they only had one homestand left, and it was this weekend. Great, we're going! As an added bonus, Friday is fireworks night. It's kind of a nice bookend to our summer, actually. Ethan and I went to the Hawks pre-season fan fest (complete with fireworks) the day before Corinne was born.
The game itself was good. Boise lost 4-1, and the Spokane team clinched the playoffs with the win. That was kind of neat-- I don't think I've ever seen a clinching celebration before. Ethan was a little bored at first, and he only wanted to go to the kids area and find something to eat. I made him watch a few innings before we went to the inflatable jump things they had out by right field. While we were there he missed all the scoring (including a three-run homer by Spokane) but he didn't seem to mind. We got back to our seats around the sixth inning, and he surprised me by paying attention to the game the rest of the way. I really didn't think he would enjoy it, but he got pretty into it. At one point he told me that he really enjoyed doing things like that with me, and that moment totally made my night.
As a side note, I've heard from quite a few people recently that Ethan and Corinne look quite a bit alike. Let's see what you think: ( I don't see it myself. )

TV Meme stolen from watercircle |
[29 Aug 2008|10:55am] |
Here's a TV show meme I couldn't resist filling out. As if you needed any more proof, Rachel is pretty lame. She barely watches any TV, and there's a lot of shows she hasn't even seen ONE episode of.
Empire Magazine has revealed its list of the "50 Greatest TV Shows" ever. Below is the list and here be the rules.
1. Bold the shows you've watched every episode of (if I think I've seen more than 75% of the episodes, I'm bolding it) 2. Italicize the shows you've seen at least one episode of 3. Post your answers Rachel is Lame Bonus: Underline the shows that you HAVE access to, but have never seen an episode of
( Total lameness behind the cut... )
The top 10 isn't bad, but I seriously do not agree with #10, 8, and 2.

Ohio: Statewide Pit Bull Ban Introduced in House pit bull
OH HB 568—Statewide Pit Bull Ban Sponsor: Rep. Tyrone Yates ASPCA Position: Oppose Action Needed: Please call your representative in Ohio’s House to voice your opposition to this bill. Please also call House leadership.
Ohio State Representative Tyrone Yates (D-Cincinnati) has introduced HB 568, legislation to ban pit bulls throughout the state. HB 568 would require pit bull owners to forfeit their dogs to the dog warden for destruction. The bill would also authorize law enforcement to confiscate and kill any dog whom they suspect is a pit bull.
While HB 568 has not yet been referred to a committee, we anticipate referral to the House State Government and Elections Committee.
Dangerous dogs are the product of reckless ownership practices (e.g., chaining, isolation, cruelty, failure to spay/neuter), not breed. Further, there is substantial evidence that well-enforced, breed-neutral laws keep communities safe, and no evidence that breed-specific laws are effective. If enacted, HB 568 would succeed only in removing beloved pets—members of families—from their homes.
