Step One Is Far Enough

So you write fanfic. And you think you've got a voice that's distinctly your own--a style that sets you apart from all the other fic writers out there.

This is a multi-fandom challenge, open to any and all writers. Het, gen, girlslash, and boyslash are all welcome. Bring your friends! Tell your comms!

We're not asking you to try and disguise your writing voice (although you can) or to attempt to fool everybody by writing a genre/pairing/fandom that you ordinarily never would (although you can). This is about finding out if your style is recognizable. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, and maybe everyone believes that you're someone else entirely.

The Rules Of Modliness

01. This challenge is for fun. It is not omgsiriusbizness.
02. Signups run from the first to the tenth of September.
03. Write a short piece - around 500 words - and post it to the community using your randomly assigned sock account. Posting will be open from as soon as the socks are assigned to the twentieth of September. Please don't abuse the sockpuppet accounts.
04. Submissions will be locked to comments until after voting. Discussion post is here.
05. Voting for who you think is the author of the piece will commence the twenty-first of September. Submissions will be sorted for voting by sock.

There are no stern prompts, no firm commitments. Write if you want to. Write what you want to. If you can't make the deadline, that's not a problem: just tell us you're dropping out.
